Poll Is This Plagiarism

Plagiarism on record???High school.?

Im a sophomore(10th grade) in high school. I go to a pretty competitive magnet high school which is supposedly rated as one of the best. I recently plagiarized on an English paper and my teacher found out. After I was told that this would be on my permanent record, I realized what I had actually done. The reason I plagiarized was because im a procrastinator and i was lazy. I understand the consequences and this is really changing me as a person. I have decent grades, mostly Bs. I aim from know on to try to be the best as I can. I honestly can't believe that it took me this long to realize that High school is actually VERY important for my future. I am so mad at myself right now. But, i feel like i have ruined my chances of getting into a college. I mean will any colleges accept me anymore? Do i have to go to a crappy community college because I won't be able to get into any other ones? Also i have to go to a Honor Committee very soon about this, and idk whats going to happen. So far all i got was a 0 on the paper and my teacher said thats all that is going to happen. So then why do I have to go to a Honor Committee? So basically what im asking is Will I still be accepted to colleges or will this plagiarism on my record make it so they deny me? Also what is going to happen when I go to the Honor Committee? Is their any way that i can clean this off my record? I have told my teacher that I was very disappointed of myself and I also apologized to her and told her I would never do it again. Im really worried that I won't be able to get into a college anymore.

Rap: sampling or plagiarism?

It can be a fine line at times. Sampling is considered stealing, or plagiarism, when no consent is given to sample.
If you hear a song on the radio that samples another song, chances are they got permission and possibly paid for it.
However, some people do illegal sampling and/or mash-ups and post them on the internet. It may actually be legal (or people won't care much) if it isn't for commercial purposes (they're not going to make money off of it), but I'm not 100% sure.
I think it should be allowed for non-commercial purposes if the sources are given.

How to get away with plagiarizing?

Don't insult her intelligence. She knows the subject and the sources FAR better than you do so if you plagiarise it's at your own risk.

Even rewording and rephrasing doesn't get around it: if you repeat ideas or concepts without attributing references then you're committing plagiarism. Even if you get away with it this time it's a bad habit to get into as sooner or later it will come back and bite you on the bum.

BTW: Someone with "amazing English skills" really wouldn't have asked the question you posted two hours ago (see below).

Have you ever done plagiarism and got away with it?

hi, i think of that plagiarism isn't reliable. I even have used costs and reported that they do no longer look to be mine and given the credit to the persons whom have arise with it. the line is crossed once you utilize each singe little component, despite in case you alter some words right here and there to make it seem distinctive it remains no longer reliable. at college we ought to sign an settlement sheet for all assignments, that asserts that we've arise with this ourselves and if we are caught copying different peoples works (playgiarism) the we get no marks in basic terms a huge fat 0. i think of that's honest because of the fact then it is your fault for no longer having your paintings. Having a orignal which you have arise mutually with your self is an stunning concept. Dont circulate taking some1 elses paintings and allways attempt to make each thing your very own! wish that helped Love Tania (;

Have you ever plagiarized a college paper?

I love when people ask questions like this one. Here are a few of the things that can happen to you when your professor uses one of the many available programs that detect this kind of cheating:

(1) You'll fail the paper
(2) You'll fail the course
(3) You'll face academic discipline and a formal reprimand
(4) You'll be put on academic probation
(5) You'll be suspended
(6) You'll be expelled
(7) You'll have to report the academic discipline to future schools and employers
(8) You'll have limited credibility and job opportunities for years due to your history of professional dishonesty

I don't know why students think they can't get caught or delude themselves into believing that plagiarism is a minor offense. It's a serious thing that is surprisingly easy to detect and seriously deleterious to your professional well-being.
