What do you make of Philip Seymour Hoffman overdosing on heroin?

It's not quite true that he overdosed on heroin. The New York City medical examiner's office released autopsy results indicating that he died from "acute mixed drug intoxication" involving cocaine, amphetamine, and benzodiazepines, as well as heroin. The combination of heroin and benzodiazepines, a class of drugs that includes Valium and Xanax, presumably was what killed him, since both depress respiration and potentiate each other. The stimulants may have masked the effects of the depressants, leading Hoffman to consume more than he otherwise would have. Being strung out on heroin, an overdose of heroin alone would've been very unlikely. Tolerance develops fairly quickly. So, what to make of it? I assume you're thinking something along the lines of, "This dude had it made. Why was he doing a bunch of dope?" The truth is, no one really knows why a minority of substance users get into trouble with drugs and/or alcohol. I'm not sure how much it pays to wonder about the particulars here. The sad thing is that, due to drug prohibition and social stigmas around both mental illness and drug use, people end up doing this stuff in secret, and so, they don't get the help they need when they need it. But, that's unlikely to be the message people take from this incident.••• Thanks goes to Jacob Sullum, from whom I plagiarized part of the first paragraph:https://reason.com/blog/2014/03/...

Why do most Indians dislike Sonakshi Sinha?

First of all she hasn't done any movie as such to prove her acting skills.Secondly, everyone wants the heroes to be handsome, hunks, have six-pack abs, great hairdo, persona and what not.Beat the shit out of 100 goons and not even break a sweat. Superb actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui have to toil in poverty for a long time and everyone is fine with it. But if men start to criticize a female actor for her weight, then everyone loses their mind.Feminists act like we have committed a crime while it's perfectly normal for women to croon over abs of male actors. And frankly, Bollywood is for entertainment. We go to watch movies to just have few hours of freshness, change from daily life. That is why we call them 'Heroes' as such in India. They are larger than life. We see to them and dream what we want to be like physically, have that kind of life we are not living; just looking and imagining the life they must be living (although it is seldom what we think) and wondering how awesome it would be to live in their shoes for a day. We go to movies to see the happy endings which generally most of us don't get in life.So women can want the male actors to be just perfect and its' okay. And God forbid if men complained that some XYZ actress is fat, then it's a crime. We are paying them to entertain us through movies, and it is not only their job as well as obligation to look rather good, act well because hell we want that. We pay for their extravagant, unnecessary lifestyle. Vidya Balan is fat. Pareeniti is getting fatter day by day. But no one is complaining because at least they are giving us pieces of brilliant acting in different kind of roles. What has Sonakshi done to receive adulation from people??Everyone knows Katrina can't act. Even she knows it, so she signs such movies in which her presence is just negligible and she gets money. Everyone is fine with it. Atleast she is a looker. And when an actress can act and is absolutely gorgeous we get Deepika/Alia/Priyanka, etc.PS- The last point was for people, like Sonam Kapoor, who say those actress who are not lookers are termed as good actresses by the people.

You Think You Are Having A Bad Day?

I would take Celtic getting pumped any day before I took the Scuba divers trip.

Do you think rich people have less of a need for religion?

I think rich people THINK they have less need for religion, and there is plenty of evidence for that. But I also don’t think religion is really the main part people really need, but rather the spiritual connection which brings peace, love, truth and all the things which betters the world if shared, and which was actually what Jesus taught and lived.Being rich does not make you happy, just look at Hollywood today and the many who has died there before their time: Marilyn Monroe, Robin Williams, Heath Ledger, River Phoenix, James Dean, John Denver, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Brittany Murphy, Chris Cornell and many more.10 Millionaire Businessmen Who Committed SuicideSo for rich people to think they don’t need anything is nonsense, for one thing why do they seek riches which is outside of themselves if they have no need?Fact is also that atheist has a far higher suicide rate than religious people, so people can say what they want, but all evidence does point to that religion does give human beings something. So to answer your question. I don’t think rich people need religion, spirituality or God less, they are just more distracted and detached from themselves because of their riches to be aware of what they really need. So I think most rich people tend to think they need religion or spirituality less.

Opposites attract.....really?

There is a popular notion amongst people that "opposites attract" in terms of relationships and love. I happen to completely disagree with this notion and I'll explain why. Do you think I'm taking this too literally?

The less two people have in common, the less they will be able to relate to one another. That's not to say they have to be exact copies of each other since its important to teach one another things and bring new things into the other persons life. But for example, I'm a loner and always have been, so my opposite would be an ultra social party girl, right? so she would have lived a life that I am unable to relate to and also completely disagree with. Is that supposed to be attractive? that sounds like a sad situation to me.
How can you be close with someone who has led a life you can't relate to? Is it because theoretically even though you are opposites, you share the same belief systems and morals? because by the sound of it, you would be opposites in that criteria as well, which would ultimately make me hate this girl because she would be everything that pisses me off and everything I disagree with. Am I taking this too literally?

Lets say we lived opposite lives, but shared the same beliefs and morals. First of all I find it hard to believe that someone could live an opposite life style as me and still have the same beliefs and morals as I do, know what I mean? Since our beliefs and morals are largely based on our lifestyle and experience of the world, which in this case would have been completely opposite.

What do you think?
