Many things we “measure” could be thought to have no material origin. hypothetically speaking, yeah, there are plenty of scientists who have been trying to figure this one out,... though i personally don't think it would be another universe... all together. probably more like an alternate reality. if you know what i mean. imagine our world exactly like it is, except for example, the holocaust never happened, it would be completely different, and have a totally different history. Science tells us that the same particle can exist in two places at one time, to me this is a fascinating discovery. the idea of Parallel realities is the same thing; If a particle can exist in two places at the same time which allows us to imagine that almost any particle can exist in two places at the same time meaning almost ANYTHING can exist in two places at the same time. if you have two time lines, each one from a different reality, it would theoretically overlap in certain places, since nothing is completely straight and regular. with that theory in mind it's hypothetically possible that you could jump from one reality to another, but we are VERY far away from going anywhere near that kind of science, it's way beyond our reach. Despite the fact that many renowned scientists spent a great deal of their lives investigating these theories, we're still not much closer to even proving there's such a thing as Parallel universes/realities.

Then you need to make the portal 4 blocks long and 5 blocks high and use a flint and steel to start it. I don't see why another world couldn't be accessed by any point on this one. Using extant technology we've already managed to set up plasma based force fields. Using something analogous to that why would it be so difficult to set up a point to point connection between two worlds using either a multi dimensional gate or an anchored worm hole? In fact a wardrobe sized appliance might be perfect for housing the needed devices and to act as an anchor between the two points. I'd try the physics web pages at the major universities and go from there. (Unless you've got a relative working for a major government secret agency.) ...Have you been to any renaissance fairs?
