I always feel comfortable with a short story - for me, I would look up the history of the school/student newsletters/local newspapers/etc and find a paragraph (funny, interesting, startling) that relates to your audience - we all love to hear about ourselves or things that we are involved in! 5th Grader wants to wear heels to her graduation into 6th grade?
Yes. Let her. I just graduated 5th grade and almost every girl in the whole 5th grade was wearing heels, including me. She will feel like she accomplished a lot, and you have to let her grow up sometime. Pretty soon she will be getting her period. This is a big event! Graduating Elementary and moving onto bigger and better things. If she shows signs of responsibility such as picking up her mess after she makes it and washing her hands very frequently and helping you with cooking or the dishes, then that is a total yes. Trust me! If you are still nervous about it, consider letting her wear low heels or wedges. Maybe even those high flip flop kind of things. What's one day? She can take them off as soon as she gets home. Please? I know how much this means to a kid like her since I just graduated elementary school a week ago and I wore heels. At least think about it.

okay so my nephew is graduating from elementary school and his parents (my brother & his wife) are having him a graduation party. call me crazy but isn't this a bit too much? i mean the kid is graduating from elementary school for gods sake! what accomplishment is that? you are EXPECTED to finish elementary school! now i can see how people have parties for high school and college graduates, now THAT'S an accomplishment! and i heard something about them asking for people to give money instead of gifts! are you kidding? to me this just seems like an excuse to squeeze money & gifts out of guests. i can see maybe taking him to an amusement park, or bowling w/ friends, or buying him something he wants, but a party where you ask people for money i think is a little over-board. what do you guys think? be honest... no hard feelings! thanks!
