Pulled Hamstring That Hasn

Sports Injuries: How do you know when a pulled hamstring has fully recovered?

I'm wondering if "rested it until today" means you stopped all sports activity for a month, at which point you went back to full-on running on it.If so, the hamstring hasn't really been rehabilitated. There may be scar tissue shortening the muscle. If you've been favoring the injured leg, it's also possible that you have some muscle imbalances or that supporting muscles are a little strained from the additional use.If you have been actively recovering and easing your way back into activity, you should have built up a fitness progression to the point where you should be 100% again by the time you do your first "full-on sprint." Hamstrings are tricky but if you have pain-free spurts of easy running, you should be able to figure it out. One assessment workout you can do is basically strides: easy jog to warm up, accelerate a bit and hold the pace about 15 seconds, back to easy jog, accelerate to a higher speed and hold, etc until you start to feel a little discomfort. Stop immediately when you feel discomfort. Once you get to full sprint, you're basically recovered and you should just be careful with the length and intensity of your workouts going forwards.EDIT: Andrew Bonventre is totally correct in that your rehab process should have a strengthening component. A (micro)torn muscle is a weakened muscle.(I'm not a doctor, nurse, or physical therapist! My comments are derived from my experiences with sports and very possibly only apply to my own injuries. If you're in serious pain, please go see a sports doctor and don't take the advice of a random person on the internet.)

Dog has "pulled a hammy"?

I see that most of you have put "see a vet" I would on a normal situation (not that this is not normal) but I cannot avoid a vet bill at this time (visit fee + X-rays + meds). I am in the medical profession and have examed the dog like I would a patient. There is no broken bones (as far as I can tell, nothing that would be suggestive), he doesn't cry with any palpation but does pull back when pressure is applied to the hamstring. The hamstring is still intact. I have tried an ace wrap and a stick split. I am think about a metal finger split and keeping the leg bent (like a person) for a couple of weeks. Just needed some other ideas. Thanks.

Can you pull your hamstring if you apply too much pressure when massaging it?

Therapists can certainly do damage if they are not mindful of what they are doing. Training is essential but so is common sense. In anything. And with massage, listening and feeling the persons body you are working on. I have known people who have gone to street masseurs because they are cheap. However, they have often left them with joint or tendon issues because the massage was too harsh. Especially around the connective tissue behind the knees, etc.

I pulled my hamstring 5 weeks ago and it had no bruising so it was classified as a mild strain, but it is still bothering me, what should I do?

How to Treat a Pulled Hamstring Muscle

I pulled my hamstring almost two months ago doing the splits and I still hasn’t healed, what should I do?

Do you really have any doubt you need to see a doctor? If you haven’t yet, how do you know for sure the injury is a pulled hamstring?I had a serious pulled hamstring years ago. My entire leg was one big bruise, and I could only walk with crutches. I was confined to sitting or lying down with that leg elevated as much as possible, and it took more than two months to heal. To this day, that muscle isn’t quite right.Go to a doctor and follow his instructions, before you make the injury worse.

I pulled my hamstring, will exercising help me recover?

I had a minor pull on my hamstring about 2 months ago and it hasn't fully recovered. I don't feel it during the day just after a play a game (soccer), it hurts somewhat after. I was wondering if I exercise it like doing wall sits, and other thigh exercises if it will help it recover or could that worsen it. Nothing intense by the way just some exercise.

I pulled my hamstring mustle like 3 months ago while skateboarding. It won t fully heal.?

a few years ago i had my ACL replaced with a hamstring graft. what they do is take cut out 3 pieces of my hamstring and then shove it in where my ACL would be. anyway, about 3 weeks to month after the surgery i slipped out of the shower and pulled my damn hamstring! HOLY CRAP!!! i was black and blue almost immediately. From the back of my calf all the way up the back of my thigh.took about another month for it to heal but i was in school at the time and was able to rest it a lot. Anyway, back to you. You are busy on your feet walking and bending all the time, especially if you are still skateboarding lol So here it is, KNOCK IT OFF! you leg needs a chance to recover. take it easy at work, and stop skateboarding for a while. i know that is fricking hard especially if you love it but you will just keep injuring it. also ICE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND!! keep icing it and icing it every chance you get. if you take a hot shower before bed put ice on it before you fall asleep. the heat will feel good but it will also feel like crap in the morning so ice it. good luck!!

I pulled my left hamstring going into a split without warming up enough about a month and a half ago. It's not healed yet. What am I doing wrong?

I am not a doctor, I am not giving medical advice. There are many factors that affect healing, including the type of tissue injured.Bones, tendons, and ligaments can take months before healing, as well as severe injuries to large muscle groups.Insufficient sleep, or poor quality sleep, such as substances like alcohol or caffeine, or nagging pain from the injury.Insufficient protein, fats, vitamins or minerals such zinc, copper, electrolytes. Not taking it easy, “testing” the injured area too soon.On the opposite end, overly immobilizing the area in the case of minor soft tissue injuries. Most injuries to muscle will need some range of motion/mild stretching/general light use to properly continue healing. Not having a persisting injury properly diagnosed by a medical doctor or other qualified professional, therefore not properly caring for the injury.

Hamstrings sore. Feels like it might be ruptured.?

I don't know if it's ruptured or not, but I feel a very sharp pain when I stretch my right hamstring. I played some football at the beach last Thursday and I woke up on Friday to sore legs. I stretched them and it felt wonderful. I woke up on Independence Day and my legs seemed fine. I still felt the soreness so I stretched my legs a bit more. I woke up Sunday and my right hamstring feels a lot of pain. When I walk, occasionally I feel pain. If I stretch it, it feels like it wants to rip off. I don't want to do anything with my leg because it feels painful. Any tips or anything? Does anyone know what it is?
