Punctuating 2 dependent clauses?
What is the correct way to punctuate a sentence with 2 or more dependent clauses? Especially, when they follow each other. I've noticed that sometimes it is correct to punctuate between two dependent clauses and other times it is okay to leave it out. Is this true? Any good websites about punctuating complex sentences?
Commas and Dependent Clauses?
I'm working on a scholarship essay, and my parents have been proofreading. They keep taking out a lot of commas that I think are necessary. Example 1: Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in a lot of community service. Should I use a comma after career. They keep saying to nix it. Theses next two are pretty much the same question. Example 2: As a freshman, I joined the Key Club (a student service organization). Example 3: With the Key Club, I have participated in a variety of events. Example 4: I really enjoyed it, and ended up walking 17 miles over a seven hour period before storms prematurely ended the event. Just need to know about the commas. It's driving me crazy!
