Pustules Near Public Area Cause By Shaving

Red bumps after shaving pubic area?

I recently shaved my pubic area for the first time and I developed red pimples in two days. They're really painful and sort of embarrassing. Is there any way I can get rid of these bumps quick and effective? Please note I'm a teen AND a virgin, so I know it's not an STD and what are some ways I can prevent these bumps in the future?

Are the pimples caused by shaving my pubic area dangerous?

Your skin there is really sensitive and shaving there can irritate the skin when it grows back. It's not dangerous, they jut obviously don't look too nice. Don't use acne pads, it's not acne and that may cause more harm than good. Pimples are just where white blood cells form to treat any infection, when you shave down there the skin becomes more sensitive and when the hair grows back it breaks the skin, the pimples are just your body stopping any bacteria from getting in. There's not a lot you can do to stop this other than stop shaving. You could try using a hair removal cream or waxing which would be better for you, but other than that don't worry about them, you just have to decide what's you'd prefer.

What would be the cause of boils in your groin area?

Boils are the result of an infection, usually of a hair follicle.  However, they can be the result of injury, bite, or other wound.  Whatever the cause, they are usually painful and can continue to spread if the infection is not controlled. The best remedy is good hygiene and proper cleanliness.  Boils are more prone to areas such as the groin and pits because these areas are naturally more prone to heat and moisture, both conditions that accelerate bacteria growth.  Additionally, pubic hair is designed to hold moisture and body oils, which can contribute to the problem.  Good cleaning, or removal is the best route to stop infection.  In some cases, an antibiotic may be needed.Bottom line: better hygienic practices will alleviate the problem.  Your body is a delicate balance of good and bad bacteria.  Keep it clean and healthy and only the good will have the opportunity to survive.

Red bumps and acne after shaving pubic area.( man )?

Ah, now you know what so many chicks go through all the time! I'm all for manscaping though, and I feel for you dude.

You have what's known as razor burn, they are ingrown hairs. There are ways to prevent it which I will list below, but know that if these don't work you'd probably be better off waxing or getting laser removal. Some people are just horribly sensitive and prone to it.

If you're feeling daring you should get a Brazilian wax. Hear me out. Your gf will love it because you'll be wonderfully smooth, and you'll get boasting rights and a crazy adrenaline rush. I usually take a shot of vodka before my appointment because it's bit daunting, but afterward I'm flying on the endorphins. It's a crazy experience, and actually pretty fun (and terrifying, but worth it).

Anyways, here are some steps to minimize razor burn:
-exfoliate first to get rid of dead skin and soften the hair
-make sure your razor is really sharp
-shave only in the direction the hair grows, so you don't push it back into the follicle
-use a quality shaving cream, there are really good women's moisturizing ones out there. Think Skintimate with aloe. If you dislike that because of the foam or if it doesn't work for you try shaving with a good quality conditioner. Something thick and not really scented like Pantene. It softens the hair and lets the razor glide smoothly. There is a product called Coochy by Pure Romance that you can get at some adult shops that is also really awesome. This is usually what I use if I shave, or else just conditioner. I have horrible sensitive skin.
-pat dry, never scrub the area with a towel
-moisturize the area afterward with a mild lotion to prevent irritation. In this step I actually like to use moisturizing women's deodorant. Get a brand like Dove or Secret. The solid stick, in a mild fragrance like green tea. Just smooth it over the area. It's really good at preventing irritation.

So, you exfoliate gently first. Then you shave in the direction of the hair. Try not to go over the same area too many times. Use lots of shaving cream/conditioner. When you are done gently pat the area dry. Apply moisturizing deodorant or unscented lotion. Also, never itch! It just makes it worse. Slap, but don't itch.

Good luck, man.

Pimple/sore in pubic area?

kind of a gross question i know but on monday i started off with a small pimple in my pubic area, like where my pubic bone is (not near my vagina at all). then the following days it grew much bigger into a large red pimple that was a bit painful (which i believed to be because ive been working out alot and sweating lately and wearing tight underwear) i put acne treatment on it, washed the area with gentle soap, etc.
however the condition hasnt really improved except today the pus inside has risen to the top and i accidentally popped it and the pus came out.
however now im worried because it looks like a sore...the edges are raised and the hole where the pus came out of is very deep, like a pit. and it still is reddish and hurts a bit...i know this could just be a pubic pimple but could it also be herpes?? i admit that i dont really know that much about herpes or what the sores look like. & i havent had sex but have had contact in that area with a couple of guys.
also ive gotten small pimples in my pubic area before but they went away without problem.
im just super worried right now, any help is appreciated! thank you, and also thanks for reading that big paragraph. :p

Why did I get pimples in my groin after shaving?

I'm 15 years old male and i noticed that i got pimples in my groin area two days after i had shaved my pubic hair. i didn't have this problem before until after i shaved. i used a regular razor and also a the first day after i shaved i had irritation. i haven't had sex so i know its not an std (not sure if STDs cause pimples) but i would like to know what caused this and how can i remove this problem. Does medicinal alcohol work? thanks.

Acne on penis after shaving?

They are most likely razor bumps or ingrown hairs. The difference is razor bumps are where the hair hasn't come through the follicle yet, and ingrown hairs are where the hair decides it doesn't want to grow up through the follicle the way it's supposed to and tends to become infected (it will resemble an angry pimple with pus inside). Since it's nice and warm down there you get sweat and body oil, perfect place for fungus and bacteria to thrive. If you must shave down there, use an anti-bacterial soap and brand new razor to wash and shave with, make sure the water isn't warmer than body temperature, try not to shave against the grain (skin may not be as smooth after but less irritated), and make sure you wear only cotton boxers or briefs because they breathe better. That should help a little. And if it doesn't, you may want to stop shaving because your skin may be too sensitive.

How come when I shave my pubic hair off I get pimples and it gets really itchy?

It depends...you may be shaving in an awkward direction and it's irritating the skin. Also, it's likely that you are getting ingrown hairs. Those are more likely the causes if you recently started shaving your pubic hair. The newly shaved skin is more sensitive than it usually is, and with all the new exposure and sweat that's causing it.

To help prevent this in the future and to help now, don't apply any kind of lotion, creams, etc. after shaving, put on baby powder. This will keep the area dry and less likely to get rashy.

This is what I do, and it's worked. Hope this helps!
