Question About Driving Help

Question about driving?please help?

Usually, you do shift down to first gear. Really, though, it's possible to start in second gear or even third. Unless, of course, you have a particularly weak engine, in which case you would always shift down to first.

One time, I was at a stoplight, and I thought I shifted down to first, but I was really still in third gear. I was still able to get the car moving, it was just really slow. Even though it's possible to start in high gears, I wouldn't recommend doing it too often. You have to let the clutch slip a lot more to start moving, and that kind of wears it out. Then you get stuck with the bill for a new one.

Questions about my driving test tomorrow? PLEASE HELP!?

So tomorrow I am taking my test to get my license. I feel I am prepared and I will do fine, I just have some general questions. My parents are telling me that I should not wear flip-flops for the test.. Is this a big deal or not? Should I wear my converse or flip-flops? Also, I have sensitive eyes so I always wear sunglasses. The instructor I am with shouldn't care about me wearing my glasses, right? Sorry, I know those seem like strange questions, but I just want to be sure. Also, should I greet my instructor when he sits in the car? Introduce myself? I don't want to give off a bad first impression and it all goes down hill from there. Can I ask him questions after my test, after he tells me I passed or failed? Any last general tips you think I should know about before tomorrow would be VERY helpful. Thank you so much, and sorry about all the questions (: I appreciate it!!!!!

Texting while driving ? HELP?

You do not mention your age. The moving violation and the marijuana possession are relatively minor things if handled promptly and correctly. If you cannot afford an attorney, the best person to help you is your Dad. If you are so young that you are living at home under dads insurance, tell him. If you are old enough to be out on your own and can afford an attorney, tell him anyway. You will be in a court room where other cops are going to hear your name and see your face - not to mention all the court people who will know. This is all public information. If it hasn't gotten back to him it will. Imagine if he hears it from someone other then you. It's not the end of the world. You are already in trouble so fess up and and start with a fresh slate. It will be worse when this trouble passes and then this comes up as a while new problem. It's tough being LEOS kid. Just bear in mind that a lot of the (my) anger comes from fear. We have had to knock on peoples doors to give them news that you can't give over the phone. We KNOW what could happen worse case scenario and never want to be the person answering the door to find a sad looking cop standing there. Knowing that the time of the accident was determined by the time stamps on your IM's... Its a really stupid way to get hurt or die or, hurt someone else. This is not a lecture pointed at you, just pointing out why dad may feel the way he does.

Work and driving permit help?

I live in California as well,

First let me address the work permit.
Keep the application you already picked up. During your job interview, you have the employer fill out a section on the work permit once you are hired, and simply take it back to your career center.

Driving permit:
You are *under 17 1/2* and that means, EVERY teenager under 17 1/2 in the state of California MUST take a minimum of 6 hours at a driving school AND take a driving instruction class.

I waited till I was 17 1/2 so I wouldn't have to take the class but I still took the 6 hours of driving lessons for self-improvement.

Go to your DMV to pick up the driving manual, as you will have to take a written test like I did.

Its really easy (if) you study. Theres about 40 questions and you can't miss more than 7 or 9 I believe.

Once you meet the requirements for minors than you will be able to obtain your driving permit.

Good luck :)

(Not a lot of people are aware of this new rule for people under 17 1/2, from what I know of It was recently enforced)
