How much do lingual braces cost?

TREATMENT IS USUALLY DOUBLE THE PRICE OR 1.5 TIMES THE RATE OF NORMAL BRACES

What questions should I ask when getting braces?

Ask to see some before and after pictures of the orthodontists work. Ask if your case will require surgery to your jaw. Ask if you will require any teeth to be extracted. Also ask what type of braces they offer and the cost for each. Facial or lingual brackets? Clear brackets or metal brackets? Then ask if they offer Invisalign. Ask how many months you will be in treatment for each scenario. Good luck!

What are lingual braces and what are they used for?

Lingual braces are the kind of braces are are glued at the back side of the teeth (Conventional braces are glued at the front). Its benefit lies in the fact that they are totally invisible. People as air hostesses, actors and actresses are the usual people choosing the lingual braces. They may cost 3–4 times more costly compared to the traditional braces.

Lingual braces effectiveness?

this is an excerpt from a column. dont know if it helps much but it does highlight a few things on lingual braces.

Lingual braces
Question

Being in my mid-20s, I think I'd be too self-conscious to wear normal braces, even the ceramics ones. I was told my teeth are not suitable for those retainers. I have heard of lingual braces, however, have had mixed opinions about its effectiveness. What do you think? Otherwise, what other alternatives do I have to straighten my teeth without breaking the bank?

Answer

Lingual braces have the advantage of being less visible, but conversely are also more uncomfortable than conventional braces, often causing speech impediments, such as lisping, and even cutting soft tissues. They also have more difficult mechanics than conventional braces, so may take longer to achieve similar results. In the right hands they can be effective, but you really need to be aware of the downsides of any treatment before embarking on it.

Invisible aligners such as Invisalign, are great alternatives for people who are conscious of wearing conventional braces, however, are not suitable for all cases. If you have been told these aren't suitable, then if you are prepared to have a less than perfect result, this may still be an option for you, if all you are looking for is an improvement and not perfection. Everything comes with its own compromise, and it is an individual matter; along with some advice from your dentist/orthodontist to determine the compromise you are most willing to make.

What are lingual braces? What do they look like?

Lingual braces are the least visible of any form of orthodontic treatment. The braces are placed on the back of the teeth on the tongue side, or the lingual side in doctor-speak, so when you smile, they’re completely hidden from view.Lingual braces, are fixed orthodontic appliances that consist of brackets and wires just like traditional braces. However, they’re small and completely customized to you. We bond them behind the teeth on the tongue side. The hidden braces work in the same way as other types of braces and rely on the interaction between the brackets and wires to apply gentle, continuous pressure to shift the teeth into their ideal positions. If you would like to learn more about the Lingual Braces procedure, you might find this blog post helpful.Hope this answers your question!

Anyone have lingual braces?... how about the white ones?

Ive never had lingual braces but i have had clear braces.I'm also the one that puts the braces on when you get them from the orthodontists office so i know a little about both.I guess you can say. I don't recommend the lingual braces its known to really cut up your mouth especially your tongue. The process takes a lot longer also.So plan on having braces for an extra year or so.Not worth it.

Clear braces r great the only downer is when you eat any red sauce meals, mustard, coffee, etc. Your elastics will change color. you can always change the donuts(that's what there called, because they look like a small donut) yourself if your orthodontist shows you how.Other than that and you've got to be careful not to eat hard candy and or taffy like foods . the clear braces are easily broken and need to be replaced so as long as your careful you have no worries. Have you looked into invisaligns retainers? There clear retainers that you cant see and they are also remove able your responsible for your progress's. If you ha vent checked them out you might want too.I think its just the thing your looking for!!!!!Good luck.

Do Lingual Braces work if you have an overbite?

This would definitely be a question for an orthodontist. You would have to find a orthodontist that is qualified in placing lingual braces on your teeth. Attached is a link that shows the pros and cons of lingual braces.
