A question about marriage?
I think your view of marriage MAY change. I wouldn't be so arrogant as to assume, but it's possible. It's also possible, although rare, that you will find a girl who is happy not to get married - there are some :) but they are few and far between. For me, marriage is not just a certificate - it is a public declaration, infront of all the people most important to us, that we plan to commit and love one another 'for better or worse' 'till death us do part'... etc. For me, men as such private undemonstrative creatures, for one to go through the 'ordeal' ;) or a wedding day, meant he REALLY wanted to be with me. Also, if you live with someone, it's far easier to walk away - relationships are more transient, and although some people (esp. men) like that freedom, marriage takes hard work and dedication, and I can't help but respect people for sticking at it. You don't need a massively expensive day with all the trimmings - a small civil ceremony can do - but the key bit for me is the promises you make infront of everyone. Statistically, at least in the UK, girls who live with their boyfriends (not fiances) before marriage, do not get married - their boyfriends split up with them and marry the NEXT girl they go out with. At heart, we all want love and commitment, and for me, I could only get the level of honesty, commitment and trust within a marriage.
Navy Marriage question?
Me and my fiance are both in the Navy and she is stationed in Japan while i am stationed in Hawaii. We are going to get married in March of 2019 and i was wondering if they would move us closer together or leave us seperated and how long it would take to move us together if thats an option?
A question for gay marriage opponents.?
I have heard many opponents of gay marriage claim that if we allow gays to marry, then American society will be destroyed. How is that? I won't accept "because God says it's wrong" as a legitimate answer; I'm looking for a logical explanation. If you think it's because traditional marriage and families are threatened, shouldn't you be trying to outlaw divorce, which is without a doubt the bigger threat to families? How exactly does gay marriage have any effect on straight marriage? Remember, I said logical. Don't throw around any outdated ideas like "gay people raise gay kids" or "homosexuality is a mental disorder". These views have already been examined and discarded by the scientific community.

You're referring to the effects of the Hays Code. Back then, being in the same bed couldn't be depicted on the screen; it was considered bad taste--just like showing a pregnant woman or even saying "pregnant" would have been censored. Lucille Ball in the series "I Love Lucy" was the first time a pregnant woman was shown on TV, and they used the phrases "expecting" and "having a baby." Mary Tyler Moore on the Dick Van Dyke show was pushing the boundaries with her figure-revealing capri pants and her tight-fitting pencil skirts that had "undercupping" (The skirts hugged her rear end, outlining the curve of her buttocks). Once censors began allowing couples to have one bed in their bedroom, the rule was that both spouses couldn't be fully in the bed at the same time. Serious question, is marriage worth it?
11 years ago, I married the love of my life and happy to start my new chapter of marriage. 9 years ago, we both had raised 2 beautiful children. 8 years ago, my wife and I drifted apart. Me with my job, her with, whatever. 6 years ago, my wife had an emotional affair with another man and was about to make it physical. 4 years ago, I fought hard for my marriage but she gave up and filed for divorce. Now, she's gone with most of the money that I (as a breadwinner) earned for our family, the children are with her and she hardly lets me see them. I heard she married another man who earns more than me. She left me because I didn't earn as much as he did. I can't even I still don't know what I did wrong. All I was doing was working to secure my business so we can retire early. I told her all this, but she was drifting away too early. None of this was good enough for her! The mistake I made was her history, her mother was a serial cheater and I did not caught this early on. If you're thinking about marriage, pay close attention to family history because it will shape the future somehow. And get a prenup even though I hear about how they get voided. The painful financial devestation that I went through was hard to recover from. As for my ex-wife, she's much better off because she married a man who outearns me. Can't blame her for the decision and she made a good move, but it was hard to accept.
