Fresh Tongue Piercing Questions?

I got my tongue pierced yesterday night for the second time. First time back in 2004. Its been in for approximately 25 hours now. The first time i got it done the people said it was ok to use mouthwash but these guys said stay away from mouth wash. Why is that? I used it on my first piercings and and i it worked just fine actually made my mouth feel a little better as far as pain. He said the only thing i could use was H2Ocean mouth rinse or sea salt water. Is this a new policy with tongue piercings or something? Does Midol really help with the swelling also? Because i hate ice..haha. Umm...I have never been so desperate to use mouth wash in my life! LOL

Tongue Piercing Questions!?

The biggest issue I've heard about is that some girls' tongues aren't long enough. The majority are fine though. I wouldn't worry too much. You could just stop into a piercing place and have them take a look. I'm about to get mine done in a few days. I don't think many people look bad with them because they aren't extremely noticeable, so I wouldn't worry about that either.

Good luck!

Brand New Tongue Piercing help?

1. Healing piercings usually have ups and downs. So if you're sitting around doing nothing, your tongue will probably feel alright. Once you talk for a long time, eat a tough food, play with your jewelry or otherwise irritate your piercing, then you may be feeling sore or some pain. The solution to this issue is to take it easy on your piercing. Simple foods, no hours long phone calls, and NO playing with or chewing on your barbell.

2. If you were pierced with clean equipment and you take correct care of your piercing, you should be infection-free. Cleaning after you eat or drink and before bed/after you get up should be enough to keep your piercing healthy. If you don't clean properly, it's fairly easy to get an infection which can become VERY serious very quickly. So avoid the risk all together by cleaning correctly.

3. You can eat whatever is comfortable. Just be very sure to rinse your mouth after eating sugary things like ice cream, soda, cheesecake, etc. It's usually suggested to avoid super-spicy foods to prevent irritation. Clean well after eating and take it easy when you're working on chewing.

How do you make a tongue piercing heal faster?

Go to the store and get a box of flavored freezie pops. Walmart has a box of 15 for .83 cents
They really helped my tongue piercing with the swelling and if you can't get to a store then sucking on ice works just as well.
Make sure you use mouthwash after everything u eat and drink that isn't ice or water.
For now I would just stick to soups if it hurts alot, then progressively over the next few days move up to more solid foods. I think on the 3 day of my piercing I got desperate and ate a grilled cheese sandwich. I just took my time eating and kept the food away from the center of my mouth.
After about 5 days mine stopped hurting. Good luck

Tongue Piercing Help?

I got my tongue pierced on a saturday night and now it's the following saturday, so it's been about 8 days. The piercing only felt uncomfortable the day after, but no pain, after that, it felt like nothing.

I started to notice a crater forming on the top part of my tongue and the ball was starting to sink in. I thought that it was just because of the swelling i had on the first day. Well since then, i lost the bottom ball of my tongue ring and i bought and changed the ring with a new one. It was pretty easy. I still have a huge ugly crater, and my ring isn't even tight.

1. Will the crater ever go away? i've had it for 7 days, and i'm scared it's going to stay and look ugly.

2. How do i get rid of it, if i can?

please answer my question, i don't know what to do.
thank you.

Can I smoke after my tongue piercing?

I just cringe at the question. Can you smoke after a tongue piercing? Yes. Should you? Not til it’s healed, give or take about 2 weeks. Google “Dry socket” it’s painful, causes healing to take longer and be more dreadful, and yes- It is a common thing with tongue piercings with any kind of suction. I had a partial dry socket occur because I used a straw for a slushy without thinking about it, NOT fun or worth that slushy at all. I couldn’t imagine smoking, since that also has so many toxins that you’d be exposing to an open wound in your mouth risking infection and further irritation and just general unnecessary risk. If you do decide to smoke, do mouth wash after every cigarette to help clean up toxins, and like another poster suggests, you may need to dilute the mouthwash to avoid even further irritation depending on your sensitivity level. (Everyone is a little bit different)
