Question Aout U.s. Marines Dq

Potential DQ for Marine OCS?

From a personal opinion - No this info does not have to be voluntarily divulged since it did not involve an infraction of the law. If you are asked about situations such as this by the Officer Selection Officer or his/her staff, you should mention it (not likely to ever be asked). The event you described is not unusual for a college campus. There is no criminal intent that would result in a felony conviction plus the police were not involved.

Even if you voluntarily divulge the info, it should not hinder your attending OCS. Truthfulness when asked verbably or in writing is a key factor for being a leader of Marines. If I were the OSO, your college rules infraction would not be an issue unless I explicitly asked you about it and you lied to me. Since there is no way I would know unless you told me, I would likely never ask the question.

DQ'd from Marines..... HELP?

in October I decided to join the Marines. I knew that this was what I wanted to do with my life, 100%. I was very dedicated and committed, I exercised every day and studied my general knowledge until I knew it like the back of my hand. the only thing that worried me was my past marijuana usage. When I decided to join I quit smoking for good, I sold my bowl and I was even around it for a good time and didn't even think about doing it. at first I thought everything was cool because I didn't go up to Meps until December 14th... I was given a piss test at the recruiters office twice before I went up. the first time I failed. it wasn't impossible since I smoked a lot of weed this summer, maybe like 50 or 60 times. the second time there was a very faint line so they sent me up to meps. everything went very well, I got a great score on my asvab, and I even swore in. then on December 30th my recruiter notifies me that I was permanently dq'd... that I couldn't join any military branch, because I failed the drug test at meps. I was freaking shattered I cried like a little b. I had put so much work into this! just for it to be taken away from me. all I want is to be a marine I don't care what I have to do. then a couple days later I get a letter from meps saying I was dq'd for 45 days and I might be given the chance to resume prcessing... so??? what does this mean??

US Marine question...what medical problems does the MEPS office say that you can't join the Marine Corps? help

I have dislocated knee caps on both of my knee's they lock and give away alot. I have a few other medical problems such as acid refulx disease, hypoglycemia (a form a diabetes), i had both my ankle's break last year so they are a little iffy at times, my hip pops in and out, bad eye sight (i'm piont 1.5 away from being legally night blind, and i have a slight heart murmur. That is it. Would these keep me out of the marine corps?

Oh I live in Ohio does anyone know where the closest MEPS office is in the Akron/Canton area?

USMC MEPS Surgical/DQ question?

Hello all,

I will begin my asking that unless you have personal experience or certain information that you know is legitimate please DO NOT respond to this posting.

My question is this: I have currently began the process to join the U.S. Marine Corps. I have completed a majority of the paper work and am scheduled to go through MEPS this week. '

So far I have no snags in the process, I am healthy, drug free, in good shape, and am excited and determined to be a Marine. The one obstacle that stands in my way is: A splenectomy due to Hereditary Spherocytosis. Now to those that know you cannot be DQ for this. According to the DQ list a splenectomy as a result of "HS" is passable.

The issue at hand is this; with advice from my Uncle who was a former Marine during Vietnam I should not tell my recruiter, or MEPS, anything about my surgery or my "HS". However, now right before I enter MEPS I'm beginning to have cold feet about not mentioning it. I do not want to be DQ and have my enlistment postponed.

So I am starting to think I should tell my recruiter first thing tomorrow morning. The problem is that I have never mentioned this to him throughout the entire process. I basically need advice:

Should I tell my recruiter? Will MEPS do a medical background examination and find that I have had surgery? If I do tell my recruiter how should I go about it? I do not want him to flip **** because he doesn't understand the condition and DQ me himself. If I tell him, and enter MEPS with acknowledgment that I have had a splenectomy, what sort of paperwork do I need to bring? I've heard I have to bring medical information covering the surgery etc etc.

Thanks for the help!

Marines Vs. Army: Which is Better?

I want to join the military. I always have, and I feel like now is the time. I am currently a sophomore in college, and find myself lacking any sense of purpose or direction in my studies. Provided that past medical issues (shoulder surgery, flat feet, separated shoulder) don't DQ me, I will go. My issue now is deciding which branch. I have figured out that I either want to be Marine or Army infantry, but am not sure which way to go yet. I figured I would throw this out and see what people think is better. I'm not looking for the easiest way or for the safe route here. . .I just want to serve the country that has given me so much. So, what are the key differences in Army and Marine infantry and which is a better route, in your opinion?

Heart murmur And the marines?

If it is an innocent murmur, then you qualify in the absence of any valve damage or abnormal reading on an EKG. Waivers for conditions considered disqualifying for initial enlistment are only granted if the condition is one which would make you unfit for retention after you begin your service.
The citation below is the standard for those cases where the murmur is secondary to valve damage or narrowing of the valves.

Can i join marines with prior knee surgery?

i had surgery on my knee 3 years ago and want to join marines, i have 2 screws and its 100% healed and it doesnt bother me at all..i think its stronger than before

Got dq from lapd hiring process will it affect me if i try joining marines?

I need to let some time pass in order to improve on maturity and what better way than by serving our country and joining the marines will the Lapd dq affect me they said it will appear as a withdrawal and I'm assuming it could only be viewed by other law enforcement agencies if I applied to them. My record is clean I'm 22 and have an associates degree. I don't think my recruiter will ask but just better safe than sorry am I being too paranoid? I always wanted to join the marines but my long term goal is to become a police officer PS I have no tattoos or drug addiction
