Question Bout Ssd In Ps3

How do I change an HDD to an SSD and make it boot in a PS3?

You can’t change a HDD (multiple spinning platters with read/write heads that seek over the surfaces) to a SSD (no moving parts; all soldered to circuitboards). You can replace a HDD with an SSD in the PS3 - iFixIt has a nice step-by-step here: PlayStation 3 Hard Drive ReplacementAs to booting the drive, it looks like there’s a guide to get that working here: If I stick a blank hard drive into my PS3 will it work?Hopefully, those two guides together will get you up and running. :-)

SSD in a PlayStation 3?

I am looking to upgrade my 20GB PS3's hard drive to an SSD. I was thinking the Intel SSDSA2M160G2GC X25-M 160GB 3Gbps 2.5" Solid State Drive from Amazon would be just fine. If anyone has suggestions or has used this drive any input is greatly appreciated!

LONG Mass Effect 2 loading times on a SSD?

Mass Effect 2 has two major issues with load times, one being a design flaw, the other being a bug. Both can be fixed.

The one minute load times are caused by an incompatibility issue with some multicore processors. Originally, you had to go to your PC's processes and set your processor affinity to one core and then back to all cores. This is tedious, but fortunately someone made a program that does this automatically everytime you launch the game. The program is called MassAffinity and can be downloaded here: http://www.theplaywrite.com/tools-and-ut...

The design flaw in the game is that most loading screens have to finish their loading animation before the game progresses. This can be fixed by replacing the loading screens in the game by a new short video. You can read instructions and download the short loading screens here: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/...

Will an SSD drive make my PS3 quieter?

no the fans are what make it loud

What are the best hard drives for PS3 and PS4?

Everyone swears by different brands. I personally haven't found any difference between the brands, they all work the same. As for the details, here's what you need to know:

PS4 -- 2.5" SATA II (aka SATA 2 or SATA 3.0Gb/s) 5400 RPM no thicker than 9.5mm.

PS3 -- 2.5" SATA (aka SATA 1 or SATA 1.5Gb/s) 5400 RPM no thicker than 9.5mm.

External can be anything you want. The PS3 uses USB 2.0 (note: USB 3.0 drives don't play well with PS3). PS4 uses USB 3.0. The external MUST be formatted as FAT32 (or exFAT for the PS4). Just know if you want to backup data, you have to get a hard drive the same size or larger as the data you want to backup. Also, the external can ONLY be used for backup and media purposes, nothing else.

NOTE: Even though the PS3 uses SATA and the PS4 uses SATA II, you can actually move the PS4 hard drive to the PS3 and will run at the SATA performance. So you can just get a 2TB for the PS4 and move the original PS4 to the PS3 and it'll work fine.

Install SSD on PS3 will resolve The Last of Us crash issue?

I browse some of the advantages and disadvantages of installing an SSD on the PS3 such as the improvement of the loading times on sprites and such. As games evolved and cannot be rendered enough especially with 'the last of us' experience crash on this game. I have an 80GB 3rd gen phat PS3 and I always encounter this crash issues. My question is, if I install an SSD to my PS3 will it resolve this crash issues to the unit? Or is it the PS3's RAM is too small that cannot generate and ended up crashes.

Will putting an SSD in my ps3 help to prevent hard freezes/ freeze up glitches during games like Fallout?

I am replaying Fallout 3 and haven't been playing for more than a few hours and my ps3 has froze up a few times. First I deleted some game memory and save data on games I don't have or most likely won't be playing for a while and that helped a bit, but still getting freeze ups every now and again especially during intense fights. I recently read about people replacing the HDD with an SSD and apparently an SSD improves load times and slightly improves frame rate and was wondering if I got an SSD, would it possibly reduce the hard freeze ups? My system is an old Fat 80gb, and it runs games just fine accept big games like Fallout, Skyrim, RdR, etc. I'm aware Fallout 3 is pretty notorious for glitches and stuff but I don't recall experiencing hard freezes like this as often.

How do the OS boot in a laptop with SSD and HDD storage?

Well, when you turn on your laptop, your BIOS fires the loading of OS onto RAM from your default boot drive, SSD.Since, SSDs store data in flash format, unlike HDDs which physically stores data, loading OS from SSD is very, very fast compared to HDD.HDD is not involved in this process as your only default boot drive is used. Now, OS reads SSD as C drive or System Drive and consider HDD as general storage volume.HDDs are used as they're much, much cheaper than SSDs and have higher storage capacity.***Thanks @Deepak Mali (ದೀಪಕ) for the Edits. I have my one of my semester end exam tomorrow so answered in a hurry. ***

Has anybody tried putting an SSHD in a ps3, etc to increase boot times?

The system boots up faster and games on the drive itself will load faster, but for games that read mainly off the disc (most of them if they're physical), you won't get much of a benefit over having a standard hard drive. It's more economical to just get a larger capacity hard disk drive.

Why does PS3 game keep freezing with SSD?

Might be its the age of ur ps3. Could also be that GTA 5 makes the game freeze as well. My ps3 freezes once in a while when I'm playing GTA 5 and i think that it makes the game do more than it normally can. I have only experienced my console freezing whenever i play GTA. It hasn't really froze for any other game or if im doing something else with the console. If ur console freezes when ur playing another game or maybe ur doing something else other than playing any game on it, i would say its the age. But then again, i could be totally wrong.
