Question For Someone Who Knows A Bit About Computers

Can someone help me with these questions? I don't know where to start. I have read the text book and still don't get it.?

4. Explain how multiplication was implemented in binary format in computers. Use an example such as 156*25 to explain the multiplication step by step. (Here you need to show the detailed steps of binary multiplication)

5. Represent 127.625 in a 32-bit IEEE 754 format.

Can someone who knows about computers please help?

Your graphics/video card is what's causing the slowness, my friend.

Unfortunately, all you can do to rectify matters is to buy a new graphics card.

How do people know SO MUCH about computers?

I've played with my computer for a bit over 5 years now, but whenever others talk about the internal mechanics of a computer (using computer jargons such as RAM, ROM, CPU), I really don't know what they're talking about. And they know so much more.

For the computer geeks answering this question,

How did YOU get to know so much about computers?

Honestly, all I ever do on my computer is just pure entertainment. And even if I do encounter a problem and manage to fix it (with the help of online forums), I forget how to do so the next time I see it again.

My friend said that he knew so much about computers after he got the Blue Screen of Death. After trying for over a year to fix it (I wasn't sure if he was successful or not, but I think he was), he was basically a young, professional computer engineer.

My other friend is a gamer. He learned everything about computers through trying to make his computer adjust to how the game is played. I tried doing this, but unfortunately, my PC isn't a gaming PC; my graphics chip sucks, and is integrated into the motherboard. I mean games such as Crysis and Dead Space, not Maplestory and Runescape.

How do people know so much about computers?

I know a bunch about the second-generation games systems, when internet was first being put into gaming. And I know enough about computers to fix internet problems, just little bits of information I've learned from experience.

But I know people who can freakin' fix a computer without even turning it on.(Not literally, but you get it).
I doubt its ALL from experience, seeing how most of them work off of family PC's and stuff, plus they're only 17-25 anyway.

Where does this stuff come from?
I want to go to college for Programming and Administration, but it feels like I don't know the first thing about it all.

Thanks~
