Question Regarding My Dog

Question about my dog?

I have a dog, she was a rescue and we think she's a terrier/chihuahua. She has very long fur especially around her face and she gets food and stuff stuck in her whiskers and I was wondering if and how to trim them and if I even need to, (not her actually whiskers but the fur around her face).

Question regarding Dermotic Ear and Skin suspension for dogs.?

The label on all vaccines says that vaccinations should only be given to healthy animals.
If your dog had an ear infection, then he was not healthy. He could also be having an allergic reaction to the vaccines. Do some research on vaccines.
If the ears are getting worse, then another medication should be tried. The problem could be the ear med you are using. I, personally, have changed over to more natural methods of treating my dogs and they are better for it.
The last ear infection around here was in a cat. I treated it with Colloidal Silver. Infection gone in a couple of days!

Question regarding impregnation of a dog?

As you say, "three different dogs impregnate different eggs." Puppies can have the same mother, but different dads.

PLEASE get your dogs fixed. We have enough Back Yard Breeders in the world producing unhealthy, and unwanted dogs. DO the right thing. Spay your dog now.

Question about drug dogs?

no they wouldn't signal a "hit" off of some other dogs smell of off of some food. they might sniff for a bit but they would keep searching for illegal stuff. those dogs are there to work and do a job. they know they get positive re-enforcement when they do a good job and that's what they live for. So the dogs won't give a false "hit" and disappoint their handler. months and months of training go into it and they wouldn't put the dog to work if it couldn't control its self.

Question about dog elbow hygroma?

A hygroma is a false bursa, which is a nonpainful, fluid-filled swelling surrounded by a thick, fibrous capsule that develops under the skin. Hygromas most commonly develop on the outside of the elbow. They can also occur on the hip and hock. Hygromas are initially small, soft, and fluctuant and do not pose a problem for the dog. They may be present for the dog's life time. In some instances, they may become quite large, up to 2 inches in diameter, or very hard. Hygromas can become infected in which case they are painful, sometimes warm to the touch, and may develop draining tracts.
I also have a St. Bernard that has one.

Here are some pics of them

Question about first time my dog's in heat?

21-23 days tops...mostly 21 but have seen some hit 23 with light colored discharge.
you can get doggie diapers so she wont bleed on your carpets

and yes, some females have loose stools during heat, but not all do...she should not have constant loose stools, is she does, call your vet.

she will be fine...just keep her in away from other dogs, and when you let her out to potty in the yard, please be sure your with her to watch her so no dog can jump the fence and get to her.

Question about my dog! (20 characters)?

I have a 6 month old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, who apparently cannot stand getting burrs in his fur. Today he got into a bunch, getting them all over his face and paws. I think he started to panic because he couldn't get them off. So he started eating random things (the obvious solution to dogs). He ate a ton of clover and some flowers (which I called the vet about). He started to panic even more when I brought him in to cut the burrs out. And he ate about 8. He also ate part of a wool scarf (which came back up), and chewed his leash in half. I gave him a sedative, and he's finally settled.

My question is: He still has yet to vomit up the burrs. I know his gut is hurting him. Every so often, he gets agitated and goes into the yard to graze on grass like a cow. But he still can't throw them up. Is there anything I can do for him?? Someone told me to give him a glop of vaseline, but we only have the powdered scented for our son. Is there anything else I can do for him??

Why did a stranger approach me asking questions about my dog, smiling, making eye contact and waiting for more?

Sounds like they were just making conversation. Maybe they like dogs. Maybe they have a dog of their own.Smiling and making eye contact is normal when conversing with someone. What else would they do? Frown at you and look somewhere else? You say they were “waiting for more”. Perhaps they were hoping for more of a conversation rather than someone just answering their questions.Or maybe it’s you they liked rather than the dog - and this was an innocent, friendly way to get to talk to you : )

Question about tapeworms in dogs. Found rice like moving particles on my dogs tail last night.?

Make sure she has no fleas. Fleas are the vector for tapeworm. Those moving segments dry up and "pop" leaving eggs all over that area of the dog. Fleas and flea larva ingest the tapeworm eggs where the eggs hatch into larva. The dog then scratches at the fleas and ingests them where the larva enter the digestive tract of the dog and become the adult tapeworm. Without the fleas, the tapeworm can not reinfest your dog.

I know it's pretty gross huh? I have an adult dog I had gotten from someone else. She actually had fleas when we got her but it was several months later we saw the tapeworms for the first time. I gave her an OTC drug that made her really sick (vomitting) and didn't kill the whole tapeworm because many months later we saw it again. Finally she got the "good" stuff from the vet, droncit (which is what your puppy will get).

More than likely your puppy or her mom had fleas at one point at the breeders. And that's how she ended up with them now. The droncit is good stuff, kills the tapeworm without making the dog sick. Other than what you have already done, there is nothing more to do than treat her for the worms and fleas (if she has any) and maybe a bath for her.

There are a few other vector possiblities for tapeworms like rabbits, but I doubt that's where your puppy got them. Remember tapeworms need a vector (an intermediate host) before they can infect anything else. BTW only that one dog ever had tapeworms because I keep my guys from getting fleas.
