Is it accurate to say that Christianity is more peaceful than Islam?
Yes.Both now and historically, and it’s not even close.Propagandists have for thousands of years tried (and often succeeded) on blaming a wide variety of actions on Christians that they weren’t responsible for, and wildly inflating crimes that did occur.For example, do you know how many people died during the spanish inquisition? The great crime of Christianity? About 1,800, over 350 years. That’s a slow week for ISIS. And did you know that the inquisition actually had due process elements? And that the reason it’s the spanish inquisition is because it was a rogue element outside of the control of the Catholic church in Rome? No, you didn’t.And I’m sure you’ve heard about how the Germans killed 80,000 “witches” in the 16th century… Of course, the total records of all executions during this period of time don’t add up to anywhere near that number. Basically, those numbers are made up, taking the worst atrocities and scaling them across all of Germany.Christians were often the first voices to speak up against atrocities of all sorts. Slavery, (which never found much hold in Christian Europe, in no small part because of Christian influence), the plunder and genocide of the age of exploration, the excesses of the French Revolution? All objected too, often quite strongly, by both the Catholic church and later various protestant denominations as well. While horrible things are often done by individuals in the name of any number of religion, the leadership, structure, and body of the people have not been nearly as bloodthirsty as popular history would tell you.Christian martyrs aren’t violent men who kill, but rather those who were killed for their beliefs and the lives others, often standing against far more powerful forces.The Crusades? Sorry, but two sides to that series of wars, a series of wars started by Muslim armies which penetrated well into Europe and left destruction in their wake.Christianity, in and of itself, doesn’t create law, allows and justifies civil authority, doesn’t demand adherence at pain of death, etc. Contrast all of this to Islam.I’m not saying that Christians haven’t (individually and as groups) done horrible things. Are Muslim people ashamed of their teachings?
As I sit here in traffic I ponder why some Muslims including me are ashamed of their own religion.Why?Because after the Islamic state where they used justification from the Koran and the life and Hadiths of the prophet (pbuh) we began to read what our religion teaches and we are disgusted and depressed by what Islam teaches.Until the Islamic State, I, like most other Muslims was happy enough to perform namaz, mouth the words, celebrate Eid etc but didn't really think abou what I believed in.Then the Islamic state came with their verses from the Koran and Hadiths to justify sex slaves, murder, destruction.I initially dismissed these, then I looked up the verses to “prove” that Daesh was distorting Islam.But I found that they weren't distorting Islam, that the Islam practised and preacher by Daesh, the Islamic state, was true Islam as preached by the prophet (pbuh) and as per what he did and said.This hit me hard and I read more, read the Koran over and over again and the Hadiths and the Sirah. And I know now that Islam is not ab admirable philosophy.I am ashamed of it, but I can't leave or tell anyone as leaving Islam is illegal in my country and my family and friends would kill me if they knew.We are ashamed as we are too afraid to leave Islam as we would be killed.
