Red Light Ticket Question

My Dad got a ticket because I ran a red light??

There are no points on the ticket. It is issued to the registered owner of the vehicle. Just pay it, it doesn't go on the driving record unless you get it from one of the few places that takes a picture from the front showing the driver's face.

Questions about Red-Light Camera traffic ticket?

Andy,

Generally tickets will come within 60 days so that the process is complete by 90 days (think "speedy trial"). They may come faster than that though. It just depends on the backlog at the time.

These tickets are not "moving violations". These are essentially the equivalent of a parking ticket since the citation is issued to the registered owner of the vehicle, not the driver. (For a moving violation, we execute a traffic stop and issue the citation personally.) Since the citation does not declare the driver, your insurance rates will not go up over this.

As for whether she got the ticket or not...

The flash will happen from behind the vehicle if she was cited, not the front. There's a good chance she didn't see the flash. As you pull up to a light, the camera will be about 50 feet prior to the intersection on the right hand side of the street, usually on top of a pole and pointed towards the intersection. That is the camera that is watching you as you approach the intersection, not the others across the way or on the intersecting street.

Red light cameras can be used to watch left turn lanes, right turn lanes and lanes going straight. Some jurisdictions don't monitor one or more of those lanes so she might get lucky if the cameras are not monitoring the lanes where she might have run the red light.

As for what the cameras monitor (for you future knowledge):

1. If you come to a stop after the stop line (or after the crosswalk in the absence of a stop line), you can be ticketed.

2. If you stop at the stop line, then start to make a right turn, but come to a stop again because of cross traffic, you can be ticketed. (You're blocking the pedestrian walkway at that time)

3. If you enter the intersection even 1/100th of a second after the light turns red, you can be ticketed.

4. If you move from a left-turn lane (that has a red light) and decide to go straight by turning into the straight lanes, you can be ticketed.

I wouldn't worry about it. If she got a ticket, it will arrive in the mail eventually. If not, there was nothing to worry about. You won't gain anything by calling because they will not have processed the pictures of your event yet. When they do and if they decide to issue the ticket, it will be in the mail promptly after that. Until they process it though, they won't even know what you're talking about.

Red Light Camera Question: Am I going to get a ticket for this?

I live in Des Plaines, IL.

Earlier today, I was driving down Golf Rd (heading in the direction of Oakton Community College). The speed limit on that part of the road was 35 mph, and that's about the speed I was going. When I came to the intersection at Golf and Rand, the traffic light changed to yellow but I was only about 5 feet from the white line at that point. Not wanting to risk running the red light, I slammed on my brakes and did everything in my power to stop before the white line and avoid blocking the intersection. But going 35 mph and trying to stop your car within 5 feet is completely and utterly impossible. I ended up blocking the intersection slightly by the time the light turned red, but luckily I had enough room behind me so that I could back up a little and not block the intersection (but still way over the white line). I then remained where I was until the light turned green again. (I didn't run the red light, but I got caught in the intersection when the light turned red). I didn't see a flash or anything from the camera, but I heard that some of them don't flash. I know a lot of people that have gotten tickets at this intersection. It's supposedly a very sensitive camera.

So my question is: Am I going to get a ticket for this even though, technically speaking, I didn't run the red light?

Traffic light/red light camera question?

yesterday, it was "storming" (rain, thunder, lightning), and the traffic lights at the intersection turned off.

SO, cars would stop, yield, & go. When it was my turn, I:

stopped, yielded, & right when I was almost half way into the intersection, the lights went back on. and the light was red.

Because i was in the middle of the intersection, I passed the light. I couldnt back up. The car next to me did the same.

There are red light cameras all over the place.

Will I get a ticket for this? Or are the cops smart enough to realize the circumstances surrounding my actions?

How much is a ticket for running a red light in ga?

I am not sure about the exact cost, but it will range anywhere from $100 to $200. In addition, I do know that you will have three points added to your driving license. If I were you, I would go ahead and pay this ticket unless you have significant proof that you did not run the light. If you go to court and lose, you have the citation to pay plus additional court costs.

Good luck!

Do you have to pay a red light running ticket?

Me? If I were to get traffic cam ticket, I would pay it. I know the rules. I choose to play the game. You? Consult an attorney for your local laws. But, first consult your common sense about the costs of contesting the ticket. Here’s a story from Adam MacLeod, an associate professor at Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law: How I turned a traffic ticket into the constitutional trial of the century

Why should cities be allowed to issue tickets from a red light or speed camera?

Really, why shouldn’t they? After all, no one says you are allowed to question the charging witness. No one says you are allowed to interview anyone who says you broke a law. No one says that, but the constitution does. Now, how do you question a camera or a speed gun/camera combination? It is impossible to question those devices, and many times the only evidence against you is a photo that MIGHT show your car going across an intersection after the light has turned red, or speeding down a stretch of highway. What none of them show so far is who is driving that vehicle, meaning they have no proof that YOU were actually there, whether your car was or not. That being said, many times those redlight cameras have been proven to be set to start clicking as soon as the light goes yellow, NOT after it goes red, which means many people who would legally pass through that intersection would receive a ticket in the mail for running a red light. The speed gun/camera combination is no better at showing who is operating a vehicle, just what the license number is, and, supposedly, how fast it passed the set up. Those cameras have been fought in court, and in the state of Missouri, at least, they are now illegal to operate. Most cities had already started taking them out after the citizenry had protested loud and long about MOST of the fines going to the camera owner/operators, NOT the jurisdiction the cameras were set up in.

Red light camera ticket fine?

There is often noticed an amount difference between the listing for the 'basic fine' for a violation and the amount you end up paying, is because there can be other 'assessments' and fees added on. Penalty assessments, court fees, etc, depending on what stage you take care of it.

If you simply pay the fine and be done with it, it's a guilty plea and it goes on your driving record and your insurance could be adversely affected.

If you pay the larger amount and go to traffic school, the fee goes towards operation costs of the school. You don't get it back and nothing is deducted. It's the price you pay for the opportunity of attending the school in exchange for.....if you successfully attend and complete it.....the charge being dismissed and your record unaffected by that particular violation event.

I personally would choose traffic school as the best bargain for the money spent.

Fighting a camera red light ticket?

I got a ticket turning right on a red light from a traffic camera. I was in a hurry and probably did not stop, just slowed down before making a right.I think its totally unfair that I have to pay $350 when there was no sign which says that right turn on red is not allowed. I really want to fight this. I have these options
1.I say the person in the pic isnt me, It is me but its not very clear.
2. Fight saying that there was no sign or red arrow which makes it illegal to turn right on red.
3.Fight it though mail which is possible according to ticketassasin.com (did anyone fight the court this way?)
Which is the best option? I really dont want to pay this fine, I have had 2 speeding tickets and I paid right away since I knew I was wrong, and I have been driving very carefully since.
