Red/pink Vacant Slip Inside Mail Box Where Did My Mail Go

Red/pink vacant slip inside mail box where did my mail go?

Moved inside my first apartment in august I had pink/red slip inside the mail but I didn't read it for a whole month, I just noticed I don't get any mail but i've been using my new address the mail man wasn't delivering any mail because of the slip. My question is where is all the mail I've received is it at the post office or did they return it to sender I'm asking because I'm waiting on my new credit card and I just got an email saying I should of recieved it

I had my mailman list my apartment as vacant, as I was told that was the only way to avoid marketing mail sent to me indirectly, such as mail addressed to "resident at apartment X," that was not addressed to specifically my name.  Are there additional consequences I should have considered?

There are a number of consequences for both you and the mailman. First and foremost, all of your mail should be returned to sender if you do not have a forwarding address and the apartment is listed as vacant. The exception would be the mail where no postage is paid to return it to sender. Even then, some mailers will pay additional fees to learn of your new address. They will update their listing for you showing that you moved and left no forwarding address. So even if the regular carrier does not do this, other carriers will. The carrier is at fault because as an employee of the Postal Service, he is required to deliver the mail to the addressee. He is required to be honest and trustworthy. Failing to uphold that responsibility could cost him his job. The Postal Service enters into a contract with every mailer that says that the Postal Service will make every effort to ensure proper handling including delivery of mail addressed to resident. Mailers expect and usually know the response rate for their mailers. Carriers that fail to deliver those pieces can cause stores to lose business. Failure by the employee to ensure proper handling breaches that implied contract and can cause the good faith that the Postal Service has built up with mailers all over the world to be broken. The Postal Service has an obligation to correct employees who give customers that kind of wrong information. Sometimes that can lead to a discussion with their supervisor or it could even lead to them losing their job. If you don’t want to receive certain mail, it is your responsibility to work it out with the mailer. Contact them to see if you can get them to take you off their mailing list. You can also contact the Direct Mail Marketing Association to put you on their listing of those that do not want Direct Mail like mail addressed to resident. Feedback that I received on the effectiveness of that listing was usually that it took a while for it to take effect and by the time they noticed an improvement, the listing, good for 12 months, expired. The best results usually came from those that were very persistent in talking to the mailers. One last item. Most people say they don’t want direct mail (like resident mail). When it is cut off, most of those same people miss something that they wanted and will complain that they didn’t get it. Be selective in removing yourself from mailing lists. You may miss that sale that told you about an item you wanted at a great price.

Receiving Blank, Lined Paper in the Mail?

It is worth noting that these are coming to my full name, which I haven't used in years.

I just went out to buy a blacklight, because curiosity is getting the better of me. There is nothing written on these sheets.

I highly doubt the paper formulations are the same for every manufacturer, but I compared the sheets I received with a yellow paper pad I have from OfficeMax. When the received sheets hit the blacklight, the yellow becomes brighter. When the blacklight hits the OfficeMax sheet, it turns to a deep blue-green color. Perhaps there is something contained within the paper, or perhaps I'm just paranoid.

To answer a few of the questions:
-I don't know of anyone currently on honeymoon or vacation in these regions
-The funeral comment got a chuckle from me
-I hardly live a high-profile life and my social circle is small, ergo I find the stalker scenario unlikely at best
-I don't know of any practical jokers
-I think chemicals the paper contained likely would have harmed me by now

Why would the post office leave a pink slip in my mailbox for a letter they did not deliver because they "missed me"? I'm puzzled.

Well, if it’s for a letter or other item that would fit in your mailbox, it must be that a signature is required for delivery. Examine all the boxes on the notice—one of the mail categories (certified, registered, etc.) that requires a signature should be checked. The other item that might be waiting for you could be a parcel that the carrier didn’t want to leave in an insecure place. In all instances the carrier should have knocked /rung, although there are unusual circumstances where that might not have been possible. For example, the carrier could safely reach your mailbox on your fence, but coming to your door would have meant going through a gate with a dog behind it. There should be a phone number where you can inquire as to the options for delivery, as well as options printed on the form, and in many cases you can have the item redelivered and not have to go to the post office. As far as the “missed you” language, don’t read too much into that.

What does the mail carrier do with junk mail returned due to wrong address?

By junk mail, I assume we’re referring to mailpieces with a “Presorted Standard” or Non-Profit Org indicia, or the same wording with a meter imprint or precanceled stamp.Unless the mailpiece has an endorsement, such as Return Service Requested, Change Service Requested…and there are several others endorsements, the mailpiece is discarded. When I worked at the post office, each carrier had a mail tub under his/her case, where he/she would throw unendorsed BBM (bulk business mail). Postal clerks would then double-check the mailpieces in these tubs, making sure a mailpiece wasn’t thrown in there that was First Class, or a BBM with an endorsement (yes..we would find mailpieces in there that shouldn’t be in there). So we would double check to make sure ONLY unendorsed BBM was in those tubs.First Class Mail or Priority Mail or Express Mail is NEVER discarded in local offices. With a bad address, it is returned to sender.

What should you do when someone else's mail is delivered in your mailbox?

Best way to resolve this is to pop the letter back in your mailbox with the flag up. Most regular carriers will know they made a mistake and will deliver it properly next business day.If you feel they won’t know why it’s back in the mailbox (right address, wrong name, for instance), put the reason why on a sticky note and attach it to the letter, or paperclip a note to it.Coming from a rural carrier, the worst thing you can do in this situation is write “Wrong Address” or “Wrong Person” on the mail. You’re basically ruining someone else’s mail by doing that. Please check to make sure it doesn’t say “Or Current Resident”, if it’s simply an issue with the name. I get people mailing back “or current resident” letters all the time with notes saying, “No longer here!” You’re basically telling us that your house is vacant. Also, it is not ‘illegal’ to place mail in someone else’s mailbox for the reason of forwarding mail properly, or if you have their permission to check it (say…if they’re away on vacation.) It is, however, a felony if you’re using the box to deliver personal mail, remove contents, etc.

How long does it take for the California DMV to replace a lost pink slip?

Why do you want one? You can transfer the vehicle without waiting for a replacement title.Use Reg 227 and check the box that says “Transfer of title with duplicate or paperless title.” When you complete section 3, the document immediately acts as a new title instrument. You can then use section 4 to release interest. Give the buyer the 227 as well as a bill of sale and odometer statement. Some complications:The buyer will be stuck paying the lost title fee (about $20). You should advise the buyer in advance and probably compensate for this expense. If the original title instrument listed a lienholder (legal owner), you’ll need a release of interest from that entity (section 5).If your address on record for the vehicle was not current (ugh, you shouldn’t let that happen), see the instructions in section 3.

How do you track down a mailman?

Since every answer I have read has been useless, and instead of answering a question, they ask one.. also since I had to click answer, I am gonna give my answer to the question, “Why would anyone need to track down a mail carrier?” That way there will be at least one answer in this thread. I searched mailman locator. I have to be at my daughter's school at 2p.m, it is 12:41p.m, we just had Easter weekend and I have mail that needs to go out asap! I am able to look online and watch my Pizza Hut delivery driver come to my door, so I figured the postal service must have this technology also! I would be able to find out about how far away he/she is from me and estimate if he/she will make it in time to mail my items off today. I need to contact the recipient of my packages asap, to let them know when I will be able to get them out.. but if the mailman doesn't make it to my house before I have to leave, their packages won't go out until the next day or later depending on the arrival time each day. Go ahead and assume before asking, I cannot take them directly to the post office today, and the delivery is already behind. The fact that it is behind is not the mailmans fault, or problem. This is the reason a person might want to know where the mailman is, on his/her route. I understand there are freaks out there who wouldn't think twice to kill or rape a person, but that's an issue for everyone walking around everywhere. I don't see why people are all up in arms over this. Mailcarrier is a dangerous job because of the world we live in, and they get paid well to do it. Not everyone has bad intentions and we ALL have to be able to discern what the intentions are of the people we meet and come in contact with on a daily basis. They are dealing with the public, just like a lot of other jobs. It's their job…

In the movie Cast Away starring Tom Hanks, what was in the box with the angel wings, and why didn’t he open it?

Two answers I found when combined provide pretty great insight:(1) Answer: It's a little complicated. The angel wings show that the parcel Tom Hanks just delivered to the ranch belongs to the woman (who is an artist) in the truck. As Hanks stands in the crossroads deciding which way he will go, his looking back in the direction that she just drove off implies he will go back to her house, probably to let her know what she did for him while he was on the island (giving him hope that he could someday deliver that package) and possibly to restart his life with her (she is pretty, after all). She was married to the guy who she sent the package to in Russia, but he was cheating on her. If you notice the gateway over the entrance to her property where another package was picked up at the beginning of the movie, both her name and her partner's was on the overhead ironwork. His name has since been removed, indicating that she is now single.(2) The angel's wings (or eagle's wings) are a symbol that the person who sent the package put on the box. The sender was an artist, and the wings were HER symbol. Chuck (Hanks) never knew what they meant, either, he just knew that they made this one box special, so he never opened it to see what it contained. At the end of the movie, Chuck returns to the box to its original sender, an artist who did a lot of work with that symbol. The artist is not home, but as Chuck is leaving, a good-looking woman stops to give him directions, and as she is leaving, Chuck notices the same symbol on the back of her truck.Throughout the movie, Chuck kept a picture of Helen Hunt's character with him, in his watch and painted on the wall of the cave. That was his symbol of hope. When he returned and discovered that his hope had left him, the wings became the symbol of his FUTURE hope. We are left at the end of the movie with the belief (or hope) that Chuck follows the artist-woman back to her home and something happens there for him. You never know what the tide will bring in.(1) Cast Away questions and answers(2) On the movie Castaway, what does the angel wings on the Fed Ex Box mean?
