It depends on your interests—and also depend to your needs.Mentioned that you spend almost your half time there, you have to make it very comfortable and the furniture and stuffs inside should support your needs. And picking the style and theme that’s best for your room, I suggest you to apply minimalist style. For the theme, it depends on you! But for a small room, my tip is use bright theme, monochrome colors, geometric shape, and less patterns. These would improve your room to make it looks larger and spacious!The loft above is an example of a small space that designed to fit everything inside!Or try this Scandinavian theme, this theme is one of my favorite! It’s bright, cool, and minimalist. The best to be applied for a small space. Use a small divider between the bed area and your seating area to make it more private.Or try the Contemporary apartment hacks above, and this one if you want some girly touch.My tip is to make your room more efficient, and you want everything fits inside without making it messy, trick it to use a divider. Need Remodeling / Renovation Opinion: Convert 3-season room into extra room or into outdoor patio (pics incl.)?
I have a 14' x 14' 3-season room on a concrete slab. My original plan was to have electrical put in, blow in some foam insulation, install a slightly raised sub-flooring, tongue-and-grove ceiling and dry wall the rest. Now I'm having second thoughts. I'm thinking of taking out the windows and walls and replacing the with columns and railings, creating an outdoor covered patio. Here are the pros and cons I see in each: 4-Season Room: Pros - Increased square footage increases the value of the home. Room can be used all season long. Expense of walls and 11 crank type windows already paid for (by previous owner) Cons - We already have a living room, dining room and family room. Not sure if we need another. 3-Season Room: Pros - We like to eat outside during the summer. Creates shaded area for sitting outside. Cons - Decreasing the square footage may decrease the value of the house. Living in New York, it can only be used maybe 5 months out of the year. Any advice on renovating a house?
Unless your husband is a contractor and can get materials very cheap i would not get a fixer upper on a tight budget. I do not know what your budget is but an extra 50k on a 30 year mortage is only 250 month extra. If you are on a tight budget where will you get the extra 20k-40k for a new kitchen and roof. any loan you get will be alot higher than your mortage rate. If you can arrange your closing so you get a bunch of money cash back then it might be worth while

The good thing about themes is they don't always have to be permanent! Get you some nice shaggy carpets.. you can try yahoo groups to help you redecorate your home. There is one in particular site that allows people to give away freebies to people. They are trying to keep things out of the trash.So if you have something you no longer want give it away or if someone has something they don't want and it looks good to you, grab it up.. One man's junk is another's treasure. freecycle.com look for the one closest to your home. Accessories are good, now if you really want to make your room "Hippified" then take a bucket outside and get to dying some white shirts with your friends and do tie dies, you can do this with shirts pants anything old solid coloured bikinis come up like new if you tie dye them. Even if you don't wear them you could string them up on a line to get the vibe going in your room. Lava lamps are great fun but you must remember to turn them off when you are finished, Maybe get a blacklight instead, and when you are wearing your tie dyed white shirts, the white will glow like crazy.
