Rock And Pop How Relaxed Are You On A Scale Of 1 To 10

What are the similarities between rock and pop music?

There are far more similarities between these two genres than you think. They are actually born of the same people. Rock has a very relaxed meaning, and so does pop, so the two can merge. There is a genre called Pop Rock which is a genre of rock which is softer than normal rock and heavier than normal pop. Confusing!
I'm going to take the meaning of normal pop and normal rock. Pop and rock music are similar in many of the instruments they use. Pop music uses almost exactly the same instruments as rock, but they are used in many different ways.
Similarities are also in singing styles. In some rock, the singing style is exactly the same as a pop counterpart of the song, just the instruments are used in a more heavy, probably more up-tempo way.
There are many more similarities, but I need to be somewhere so must go! Hope this helps. x

Why aren't there anymore woodstock festivals?

Woodstock '94, is often called "commercial Woodstock" or "Mudstock" it had nothing to do with peace love or understanding and Woodstock '99 is remembered for media reports of violence, rape, fires and an abrupt ending of the show. It is doubtful any location would be willing to host another one although the organizers seemed hopeful for another chance.

""I'm bummed big time," promoter John Scher said this morning. "I don't know if we'll ever know why these kids did this. I really don't think there was a kid out there that wanted there to be mass destruction."

The three-day festival, which drew more than 200,000 at Griffiss Park, a former air base, veered out of control Sunday night as it drew to a close.

By this afternoon, the site reeked of smoke, garbage and human waste. The remains of 12 burned-out refrigeration trailers were lined up a quarter mile from the East Stage. Several of them still smoldered. A line of more than a hundred state trooper cruisers formed a barrier between the concert area and the adjacent campgrounds. No one was allowed to return to the concert site after leaving.

A number of ATMs were battered during the fracas, and as of this afternoon, one bank machine was still missing.

The trouble started before midnight Sunday with several impromptu bonfires lit during the Red Hot Chili Peppers' set. At first, it seemed to be another spontaneous celebration. But soon the fires raged out of control as people removed sections of the "Peace Fence" – erected to keep gate crashers out – and threw them into the flames. "

Woodstock '99. The sun was hot, the beer was cold and the music loud. The kids had been partying night and day, not sleeping. Camping conditions had degenerated into filth.

You know - like Woodstock '69.

But where the crowd at the original festival incurred only a few bad LSD trips and injuries mostly sustained from excessive love-making, Woodstock '99 was one of the biggest debacles in concert history, with 60 concertgoers hospitalized due to violence within their ranks, widespread fires, vandalism and looting costing millions of dollars. MTV News' headline for the story - on air and online - uses the '60s dove-of-peace logo, but reads: "Apocalypse Woodstock."

Why do people think reggae is pothead music?

Reggae is essentially the music of the Rastafarians, who widely accept that ganja is a holy sacrament. Yes, Bob Marley probably did do it (which probably contributed in no small way to the massive amount of cancer that killed him), but the only reference to drugs that I can think of off the top of my head in any song of his is in Get Up Stand Up.

Potheads probably associate him with weed mostly because of the association with the Rastas and weed, and that he was a Rasta. Also, they could probably interpret any given lyric in his music with a drug meaning if you were actively looking for it.

On the other hand, because Reggae can be pretty harmonic for easy listening and relaxing, they could probably enjoy just listening to it. It would be a lot easier to put it on some Marley and the Wailers and chill out as opposed to listening to most of our rock and rap.

Just started playin guitar. i suck?

By experience I can tell you that it is completely normal DON'T WORRY, relax, just play when you feel like it. You'll get better eventually, no one became a pro in 2 days. Practice songs you like, practice scales (these are great for finger dexterity) or whatever you want. I guarantee you that if you practice at least 15-30 minutes a day, you'll get back on track in no time.

What's the difference between singing pop music vs opera music?

The main difference between a pop singer and a classical singer is that a classical singer has had years of training, whereas a pop singer has had little if any.

Some differences between the demands on a classical singer, and a pop singer:

-Complexity of the music: pop music is invariably simpler (for example - two chords!) than classical music, which is based on hundreds of years of musical tradition.

-Need for amplification: a pop singer uses a microphone, without exception. An "opera" singer has to sing over at least a 60 piece orchestra, in a large theatre, WITHOUT amplification.

-Range: Most pop songs ranges do not exceed more than one to one and a half octaves. Most classical songs have a range of two octaves, if not more. All classical singers are expected to have a workable range of at least three octaves.

-Tessitura: In pop and theatre a soprano or tenor may have a few high notes here and there but the bulk of the music will lie in the middle range. Opera has a higher tessitura - to show off the "peak" of the singers voice, where it has a natural ring.

-Vocal registers: Classical singers must sing equally well across all registers, and also have a seamless transition between them. They do not generally sing in the chest register for very long. Pop singers sing almost exclusively in the chest register, and will belt higher notes rather than go into "mixed" voice.

There are so many more differences between the two, but I cant be bothered listing them.

Less vibrato is a characteristic of a voice that does not use good breath control. Vibrato should come naturally as a result of proper technique, and breath support. Some singers have more, and some have less. While it is true that some opera singers (particularly those of the verissimo style of singing) do work to increase their vibrato, most do not do this. Some even work to sing with very little vibrato, in keeping with early music practice.

Keep up with the classical training, it will give you a solid base in healthy vocal technique. You can always "swap" later on.
