Yes, you actually have an acoustic-electric and that will work with Rocksmith. The only weird thing will be when you are playing a song with lots of distortion and you hear the acoustic tone from your guitar. Crank up the volume on your TV or surround sound so you hear it more than the acoustic tone.

do i really need it? im considering purchasing the game as its on sale right now but doesnt come with the cable. the cable is 30 bucks and has terrible reviews, its complete garbage. a normal amp cord wouldnt even cost that much, its ridiculous. but i have a guitar effects box called a zoom g3 which lets me play and record guitar on the computer. could i get it to work with rocksmith?

So, I like to move around when I play guitar, not just stand still. With the cable that rocksmith 2014 provides, it's just to short to really move around without yanking it out of my xbox. No, the note tracking systems in RockBand and RockSmith are totally different. It won't work at all. BTW: the Squier pro guitar controller has been discontinued. It's pretty hard to find now. You can't just use any regular old guitar. While the Squier controller was technically a "real" guitar, it was far from being a normal guitar. It was a highly specialized MIDI controller. There is nothing else like it on the market. The end.

Real tone cable for "Rocksmith 2014" not working? Help?
For some reason, I can't do anything when I plug in the USB cable to my PS3. I own a Gibson electric guitar. (Year, etc I am unsure of, still new to guitars) Anyway, I plug it into the guitar, and into my PS3 and nothing. Tried resetting the PS3, and still won't work. I bought the game with the cable off of Amazon new. Not used. And as far as the guitar goes, bought it used from a pawn shop. Can someone tell me how to fix this? It worked fine earlier today as well as yesterday.

Any guitar to USB chord will work.It probably would've been easier if you spent the extra 10$ on the version that comes with the cord.....
