Secuirty Light Is On In My 99 Chevy Tahoe What Is It

I have a 99 silverado with a security light when driving/no start sometimes problem, calling all GM Pros!!!!?

My truck is a LS 5.3 it has a 160000.I got it two weeks ago and it ran fine,no problems. It started the other day when i tried to start it,it wouldnt.Waited the ten minutes and it started right up?The security light will come on when driving only sometimes? It seems like its doing it more and more frequently. If it does happen to start i will drive off and it will run fine. Now i wait to see if the security light is gonna come on.....yep there it goes,it might go off or stay on who knows.I just hope that the next time it will start and not make me wait.......Ive read stuff on a couple of forums that this is common with these trucks, but i havent found an answer but maybe the ign switch resistor bad,or going out?I dont want to get stranded...is it true that if i wait to long to fix this it will not start again until new ign switch? If theres any Pro out there that knows what im talking about your advice is Invaluable....Thank you ahead of time!

Is it normal for dashboard lights to be on when ignition is off?

On some cars the lights stay on for like 30 seconds after the ignition is off. But if they are on all the time even when the light switch is fully off, something is wrong, that is NOT normal. That happens sometimes due to somebody wiring some accessory to the nearest hot wire, which might be the dash lights wire. That’s fine unless there is another source of power to the device, and that feeds back up the dash lights wire. The old Audi’s had this bug— if you held the high-beams flash switch, that would feed power back into the accessory circuit, even when the key was out. They considered that a “feature” not a “bug”, as it let you close the sunroof without the key.Anyway, if someone has done some wiring lately, that’s probably the problem. Has someone added a security system, a radio, an amplifier, or something else electrical? That’s probably it.If nothing has been messed with lately, then it’s likely that there is a short in the module that controls the lights. In the olden days the lights had a regular plain old switch, those very rarely failed. Today they use transistors to do the switching and they do sometimes fail, usually shorting out. They can be helped along toward shorting out if someone accidentally shorts out the cigar-lighter power outlet, with like a bad charger cord.

Buying chevy tahoe or chevy suburban, bad idea?

Well they are pretty much the same thing as the silverado which the only compaint ive had about a silverado is u joints but that was an 02 lol the engines are fairly cheap to rebuild. I would buy anythin else but a chevy because jeeps will kill you in an accadents and ford you cant keep out of the shop they dont have the nick name found on road dead for no reason. So i think chevys are good choices. If you buy a tahoe make sure it doesnt have the mexico tahoe plant sticker in the door those are the bad ones just calafornia ones last a long time

Why do my hazard lights work, but not my turn signals?

Hazard lights and turn signals use the same bulb, so it is not the bulb, the lamp, or the cables to them. Turn signals only work when the ignition is on; hazard lights work whether the ignition is on or not. The two systems have separate power supplies, so they have separate fuses. You may have a blown fuse.Different vehicles use different circuits, and it is not possible to accurately diagnose the fault with the small amount of information provided. You need a circuit diagram and a voltmeter, and a continuity tester. First locate and test the turn signal fuse. Do you have voltage to and from the turn signal switch? The hazard light switch is not a simple on/off switch. In the “on” position, a fused battery feed connects to left and right turn signal. In the “off” position, the left turn switch wire is connected to the left turn lamp and the right turn switch wire is connected to the right turn lamp, so there are 3 inputs and 2 outputs. The fault could be a fuse, turn signal switch, hazard switch, flasher unit, or a broken wire or connection.

Why is my car flashing security and dinging?

Put your key in turn it on, don't start, wait 10 mins remove key, wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. If that don't work try a different key and do the same thing. This procedure relearns your key to the security system (VATS) it started with Gm cars and trucks from 1999 to to 2006. It is a big problem but there is no recall that I know of.

If that don't work a dealer or a locksmith is your only option. The VATS need to be diagnose or reprogramming so all keys can be recognized by the VATS. HTH

2009 Chevrolet Malibu Radio Unlock Code?

The audio unit must be programmed to the vehicle, as the VIN is stored in all modules on the LAN and all the modules must have a matching VIN in order to operate.
The only places that can do this are GM dealers or an AC Delco service center which has access to GM SI and TIS2WEB programming.

Why does my car alarm trigger when I am opening it using the key not the remote key fob?

some alarm systems are designed that way. Most alarms OEM and aftermarket have voltage sensing and will trigger the alarm when the dome light goes on. This is to combat possible breaks ins using a slim Jim. If you turn off the dome light(s) or remove the bulb, the alarm will not trigger unless it has a shock sensor. This includes “door ajar” sensors btw. This feature can be programmed out on most alarms but defeats the purpose of having an alarm.
