Service cost from Authorised Honda service center is pretty costly. They give you free 4 services for a year but yet you have to pay 400-/ Rupees. when your services are done, they will ask you to buy their one year service plan in which they give you new book and the same so called free 4 services start. But if you don’t purchase new book which costs 1000/- rupees then you will have to pay around 700–750-/ for each service (in Delhi).My advice would be, If your Activa is new or you haven’t crossed 20k kms then get your all services done from Honda service center. You need to ask them to clean your both Air-filter’s dirt, spark plug, break shoes, engine oil filter etc. You should get 1 year plan. But If you have crossed 20k kms then find a good and honest mechanic, He won’t charge you much (200 rupees for labor and wash) and it would be better if you buy Engine oil on your own, whatever brand you like, it won’t cost you more than 260-/ (use only Scooter oil).Now lets talk about their parts, The parts they sell are not cheap you can buy the same parts from outside market but still their would be some doubts in your head. This happened with me when I bought an Air-filter from a local shop for only 150-/ but after few months I changed it to genuine Honda air filter just to relax my mind. You can do one thing if you need to change some costly parts in your activa then buy from Honda service center and simply ask your local mechanic to fix it. it will save the labor charges (400) and you only have to pay less than 150 or 200 whatever he will ask for.I usually take my Activa to a local mechanic for service and it costs me 450–500-/ rupees only.

I can simply say what Activa is to iPhone, Jupiter is to a flagship Phone of Android. I have ridden both the Scooters & Own a Jupiter for 3 years now that has crossed 17000+ Kms.. I can proudly say, its the best Scooter in the Market at the moment & a real threat to Activa in terms of everything.. It beats Activa hands down in all departments.. Even at 17000+ Kms, the engine is as smooth as the new one..The Suspension set up of Jupiter is on par with Bikes & the best among the Scooters.. I have ridden on terrible roads on both these vehicles.. Activa sends jitters on to your shoulder blades & Spines.. Even a shorter distance is a pain.. Jupiter’s sheer comfort will make you fall in love.. The rest of the features are already listed & answered.. Just to add that Jupiter too now gets Combi Brakes (they call it Sync Brakes).. Activa can only win back, if Honda changes their stone aged suspension system in their Scooters & provide at least some handful of features by not being stingy..The only plus on Activa is Resale value & reliability.. While the Mileage, Top Speed, Engine smoothness are all same between Activa & Jupiter.. Where Jupiter scores is Features & Comfort.. With some periodic updates to Jupiter, even TVS can post some good resale value to this Gem in coming years.. The Jupiter’s reliability is already proven with 4 years of its presence on the roads, so, that negates with Activa on reliability front..While there are options like Maestro, Maestro Edge.. Please note that the Hero’s own engine comes into play on both these Maestros after the split with Honda.. Earlier they had used Activa’s engine, but not now.. So reliability is a question.. I would suggest not to use a bike in India. Especially in Mumbai as the traffic is crazy. Having said that and being a bike enthusiast myself following are some of the options:Honda Unicorn is hands down the best 150cc bike in the segment. Couple of my friends have unicorn and the engine still sounds as though it came out of the assembly line yesterday even after years of usage.Avenger 150 is good bike also. The posture and the ride comfort is very good when compared to the other bikes. Again looks are perceptive, I like how the bike looks but not sure about your views on it.Suzuki Access - if you want a gear less vehicle, this vehicle has the looks and the power to deliver the goods. I had this and sold it to buy an Enfield. How I regret my decision.After nearly a decade on 2 wheels, I have owned Kinetic Honda, Bajaj Discover, RX 135, Suzuki Access, Royal Enfield and an Avenger. Out of all these I prefer the Access just because of the ease of riding and maintaining the bike. Adding to the chaotic Bangalore traffic, I just wish I had my Access.
What is the battery lifespan for a Honda Activa?
Nicely maintained battery can give service up to +3 years. By nicely maintained l mean…. always get battery checkup also done when getting vehicle serviced and when starting scooter after a gap of several hours use kick to start instead of self especially in the morning when we start vehicle after a gap of 10/12 hrs.Regards.
Why does the Honda service center charge INR 400 for the first free service of Activa? Is it fair?
Comes to me as a surprise.As per the HMSI service circular, the work to be carried out in the first free service is mentioned behind the service coupon of your service book.There is supposed to be no charge for all this plus the washing and cleaning of your vehicle.So if you deny installation of any part and engine oil, you should end up with a zero bill amount.However, I would recommend a change of engine oil which costs Rs 260 (800 ml) as per HMSI norms.This is all that needs to be done in the first free service , except if you need some part replacements like electric bulbs which are not covered under warranty!As mentioned in other answers, the engine oil flush, oil additive, petrol additive are all non company complaint services where dealer earns a huge margin. Any dealer cannot force you for any part replacement. Engine oil additive and petrol additive also void the engine warranty of your vehicle.If any authorised dealer forces you for the same you can take up the issue with HMSI customer care team.
How long can we ride an Activa in a single go?
Since it is a well known fact that the Honda Activa is a 100/125cc scooter which is the largest selling scooter in its segment and is used for daily city commuting. However there are people who would like to set the bar higher than usual everytime they grab that accelerator. Since the Activa is a normal air cooled engine, the engine would get hotter if its made to run any longer than what its been made to. Also the engine is covered by body from all the sides, this also prevents the air to cool the engine more efficiently which in turn reduces the cooling and hence may lead to the blocking of the engine. Also the bike carries a smaller displacement engine which would further prevent it from staying more at the average running temperature which can suddenly result in faults and may leave you stranded somewhere on the trip. The quality and the grade of the oil used in the Activa is also not that rich so as to make your long ride comfortable. I suggest you to carry some engine oil with you so that you wont be left stranded somewhere on the highways. Activa can easily do a one way continuous trip of 70–80 kilometers after which the engine tends to struggle and maintain its pace. I hope you got your answer, so plan your trip accordingly. Is it worth repairing a seized Bike engine?
My friend's passion pro seized because he ran without changing engine oil for more than eight months or so. It was kind of jammed and he wasn't able to move it. The authorized service center for Hero charged him 8-9K, while he did the same job in a local workshop for 3.4-4K. In case of 150cc bike, you might have to spend 6K at least. Post that, his bike (about 2 years from then) is doing good still.
