She stares at me but looks away when I see her. What should I do? (See description)
Go up to her one day and say this - "Hey, I needed an advice from you. Can you please help?" Obviously everybody would say yes. Then ask her - "There's a girl who looks at me sometimes. I find her very beautiful but I don't know what is the first line I should say to her to start talking to her." Obviously she would know that you mean her but she will behave as if she doesn't, though she'll find you smart and witty.Dude, whatever first line she tells you to say, use that line on her then and there and then blush and smile! The ice will break and then just talk about other stuff. I'll change my name from Ashish Lal to Ashish Peela if this witty method doesn't work. Wear Nike shoes and just do it. Cheers!
How much time do you spend with your dog daily?
I spend and hour before work, and an hour or two after work. thats playing, and walking, and cuddling. on the weekend it depends on what i have going on. definitely more than on the weekdays. i like to go for long walks along the lake, and i take them to my in-laws farm every weekend. i have 5 dogs so i spend lots of time with them : )
Are Shelties supposed to be easy to train?
I got my first Sheltie in 1967, and lost my last 2 1/2 years ago. My first was my obedience dog (a 199 1/2 HIT dog), I bred and showed in conformation for about 20 years, and my last Sheltie earned his Agility Championship in 3 agility organizations as well as getting a Junior Herding Dog title. Shelties are a 9.9 score for intelligence and trainability. They are active, athletic and "want to" understand you and work for you. They do need training as all dogs, are happiest feeling they are a "productive" part of the family with jobs to do, and need exercise. Shedding? As a double coated breed, they shed quite a bit, but not as much as a German Shepherd or Lab!!! A good weekly brushing, taking care to do the fine hair behind their ears. And if you want, a quick brush thru every couple of days. When they start their summer shed, a good warm bath to hasten the shed, then daily brushing to get it over with quick. Shelties are barkers...so nip this tendency in the bud! Shelties are supposed to be "reserved towards strangers", but this does not condone a true "shy" dog. Do take care when looking for a pup to look for good, solid temperament. You generally do not want to choose the shy, quiet one that sits in the corner. Nor do you want to pick the "heathen" that runs up to you jumping up and down and barking at you. You will need to take care to socialize young. I would not say Shelties are stubborn, nor do they chase everything. The first is not a trait to the "standard" for the breed, and a well bred one should not be stubborn. In the 37 years of owning lots of Shelties, I have never had a stubborn, bossy one. Of course, training has heaps to do with whether your dog complies to your wishes. Chasing is somewhat normal for all dogs, and is a training issue also. Shelties are a marvelous breed!
