Should I Allow It To Back Up My Data Before I Restore My Lap Top.p.

Once I've installed Windows 10, if I have to factory reset my laptop, will it revert to Windows 8.1 or stay on Windows 10?

Depends on which method of factory reset you use.If you use the recovery media, it will install the version that came with the laptop and it will behave exactly the same as if you had just bought and unboxed it. In this case, Koundinya Upadhyayula's answer is right. If you use the built-in reset functionality (from the modern Settings app), you will get a clean install of Windows 10. Your laptop will behave as if you had just bought it, too, but this time, it came with Windows 10. In this case, Paul Olaru's answer is right.

How can I fix my laptop, that is showing restoring the previous version of Windows and then shuts down and shows the same message again (I have windows 10)? My mechanic says he can fix it but I will lose all my data. Is it the only way?

I guess you were trying to install windows 10 fall creators update and were given an error code. It happened to me too but my windows recovered to its previous version easily. I guess all you need to do is give it time. You have two options here. Either recover your previous version of windows manually or reinstall previous version of windows. In both ways you won’t lose any data.If you want to recover manually you can do it in three ways.Startup your pc and press f10 or whatever key your pc says to interrupt normal startup or show advanced options or startup menu. Then in the startup menu you’d see a recovery option. Hit whatever button it says to recover your pc and you’d be able to recover your previous version of windows. If you are unable to recover using first option, find the installation setup of windows 10 and run it on startup. There is a repair option when you run any windows installation. You can repair your pc using this but you’d need the same version that you were running/If you can find any pc running same version of windows as yours, you can create a recovery disc which can be used to recover windows on your pc. For this too, you’d need to have the same version of windows running on that pc on which you make the recovery disc.If none of the above steps helps, you can make an installation media of same version of windows and use it to reinstall windows on the same drive. Run installation on startup and do not format the windows installation drive. Just overwrite it. When you are finished with the installation, you would find a new folder in your windows installation drive from where you can find your data if you need. Also if you follow this last step, you can use the fall creator’s update because it’d be better to install it rather than using the previous version.

Why is my Laptop so laggy, slow and unresponsive ?

Okay so I have spent real time trying to sort this issue out, but I'm getting nowhere.

So I have a HP Envy 14" notebook with,

- Intel Core i5 Processor
- CPU @ 2.30 GHz
- 4.00 GB of RAM
- 500GB Hard Drive
- 64 Bit OS
- Windows 7 Home Premium

Though the machine is sometimes okay it just has moments when it won't do anything quickly or even at all which just ruins whatever I am trying to do at the worst possible times.

"Irritatingly Inconsistent" is an accurate description of the machine

The Laptop worked fine until it was about a year old when it started struggling with even the most basic tasks, I can be just Word Processing for example and the screen will just freeze up for 5 - 10 seconds, I continue typing and the words all appear at once. Using chrome to surf the web is a nightmare as well it often decide's to become unresponsive for a half a minute or so until it re-stabilizes. In-fact almost all programs I use become unresponsive now and again but usually respond again after half a minute or so.

Most programs that I run on it usually have some sort of difficulty opening up to the extent where I can be waiting nearly a minute just to open a browser or my documents. If I have several different tabs open the problem worsens which doesn't help anything. I used to edit videos on Sony Vegas 11.0 but that became almost impossible as the laptop just couldn't seem to handle it at all. Video streaming and playback isn't great but I can put that down to slow internet connection.

When I bought this Laptop I didn't expect to be have such problems with it so soon, as far as I'm am concerned it's still quite a good laptop but it always seems to slip up at the most basic times.

I have tried,

- Scanning for Viruses
- Defragmentation of Hard Drive
- Removing any Programs that I don't need.
- Disk Cleanup
- Freeing up Disk Space
- Changing start-up settings
- Uninstalling and RE-installing various programs.

I could go on. But now i'm rambling.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks.
