Should I Be Nervous About Having My Doctors Appointment With A Male Doctor

Can I go to a doctor's appointment when I'm on my period?

In the absence of either symptoms or signs of concern or previous abnormal findings that need a follow up there is no point in having annual checks of any sort.Genital/pelvic examination of a 13yo would be highly unusual as a routine measure - to the extent that I would be worried that it had even been offered/suggested - unless you are sexually active already.Having said which:The youngest case of chlamydia I ever detected was 13yo. The youngest sexually active girl I ever encountered was 10yo.All (male and female) those who are or have been sexually active with new partners should have regular STD checks. At any age!Pelvic examination whilst on a period is only messy and not in the least bit worrying or disconcerting for the doctor - but it is an unusual thing to do.

Nervous Male Getting a Physical Exam by a Female Doctor?

I have an annual physical scheduled with my female doctor. Up to now I've only seen her for colds and simple things; never had to undress. I'm sure she will do a testicular exam and a prostate test. Does anyone know if it is normal for me to have a gown? In the past, my male doc had me strip to my shorts then drop them for these. Also, is it required for a nurse to be present like it is when a male doc examines a female patient? Switching doctors really isn't an option. Please, only serious answers - I've read all the Penthouse Forum stories too. I'm just afraid I might get aroused (and embarrassed), especially if there will be two women in the room.

MEPS: Requesting a female doctor for the "personal" part of the physical?

I'm going to do MEPS in two weeks and while I have no problem being nude or in my underwear in front of others, I am soooo nervous about the personal part of the physical. I'm 24 years old and I really feel uncomfortable about having a male look at my private parts. What should I expect from the personal exam? Do they do a pap or just look? I understand that they are professionals and everything but I didn't even have a male doctor when I was pregnant with my daughter. I had a friend that was raped while I was at her house and I'm sure that is where I get my nervousness with male doctors...anyone have any tips?? Can I request a female doctor? Please no inappropriate remarks.

Stripping down in front of doctors?

Depends on what your appointments are for, and some doctors will ask that the patient change into a gown. Unlikely you'll be fully nude at any time. If the doctor is examining your genitals, usually will just pull up the gown, or if not in a gown, you'll drop your pants and underwear briefly. All really depends on what you are being seen for.

Can a male doctor examine a female patient without a nurse in the room?

Honestly, don't worry...just think about your health, thats all that matters at this point.
I think that legally, there has to be a female in the room..a nurse. If I am wrong, you can ask for a nurse to be present, but my mom was a MA and they made her stay in the room every time someone had a pap-smear and/or a breast exam. Then when I got a breast exam, a nurse was present.

You will be fine..you need to focus on your health right now..thats all that matters x)

Avoiding my Physical Exam @ Doctors . Ladies Help ?

Well, my GP asks me to take my jeans off and leaves the room while I do so. I climb on the couch, lie down and cover my hips with a towel. She returns and gloves up and then take the speculum and usually holds in her hands a minute to warm it up (cos it is stainless steel and can be cold!) before inserting it. Now here's a trick. When you think of your vagina, you think of it as a vertical slit || up and down. But it's actually the other way = So she will hold your lips apart and insert the speculum what you might consider to be 'the wrong way' or 'sideways'. Keep that little bit of anatomy in mind and it might help you relax. And trust me, there's nothing sexually exciting about a cold stainless steel speculum being inserted in you! She will then use a little brush, like a toothbrush (but shaped like a bottle-brush) to take a little srcaping from inside you. You might feel the pressure, but you shouldn't feel anything else, like wearing a tampon. Then she pops it in a little container to send off for processing and removes the speculum. My GP also gives me a manual internal examination - which means she just has a feel around my vagina and cervix to make sure there's no funny lumps or bumps, and then gives me a breast exam. It's very thorough and only every 2 years, and gives me a sense of "relief" when she finds nothing wrong.

I hope this helps you understand the proceedure better and that you go and look after yourself girlfriend!

Teenage full physical!!! First Time!!! I"m a girl with a male doctor!!!! HELP!!!?

Well first off its seems a little creepy but its really not Even with a male doctor!! in Most places you will go into the exam room with a lady nurse this is the perfect time to ask any ?'s you may have and if you are nervous let her know she will help with whatever you need!! She will give you a hospital gown these are left open at the back and yes you have to be nude under them. they do not undress you!! the doctor will come in and check you they check your spine, lungs and around your neck then they check your boobs and then your stomach and yes they check your vagina this is called a pap they use a small metal device that they insert into your vagina its a little uncomfortable but its bearable they use a long q-tip looking thing and swab the inside of the vagina this helps them to make sure everything downtown is normal and then they use there fingers to check you uterus to make sure that it is where it should be. and then your done its really not as creepy as it seems and in most places the lady nurse never leaves you alone with a male doctor!! and if it would help you can even have your mom go in with you. Good Luck with your apt just breath you will do fine :D
