Should I Change Driving Schools

Best driving school in Abu Dhabi?

You'd probably want to take driving classes (theoretical and Practical) with Emirates Driving Company (EDC) because you need their approval to get a driving license. It's the official driving training program adopted by the Traffic and Licensing Authority, and u cannot take the diving test without taking classes with the EDC
U can book for classes either in Musaffah or in Mushrif (Mushrif only for girls and Musaffah for both). Check their website for more info.

Is switching driving schools a good idea?

Oh, that's too bad that you have a ill-tempered driving instructor. I personally think driving instructor should not yell at students because first, he gives you less confidence, second, he can lower your ability to operate your car/ making decision what to do on the road by your own.

However, I suggest you to think - how well did you progress during these seven days of lessons? If you progress a lot, even if you fail the test Thursday, then I will recommend you to stay with this teacher. Sometimes, the teacher who is strict to you can be good for you. But, if you think you didn't get a lot better or if you get worse, or you feel scarier to drive, then change the teacher immediately!

I am 21 now. I started driving at 19 with a very gentle instructor. I didn't really seem improved during the first five lessons and I failed the road test two times. Then, he introduced me another instructor because he would be out of town in Christmas break, so I switched. The new instructor was scarier, but he made me motivated to improve and learn from mistakes. I passed at the third road test.

So think about it. Scary instructor is not always bad.
Also, looks like you spend more time in your Dad's house rather than Mom's. So, if you can tolerate your instructor's temper and improve your driving skill, then it's actually better not to change driving school. Your instructor is NOT going to be with you for the entire life- he is just doing his job to let you pass the test. Once you pass, if you don't like him, then you don't need to meet him again!

How do i change lanes while driving?

First, your side and rear view mirrors must be used to change lanes. Make sure that they are properly aligned to the right field of view. You rear view should show you whats going on behind your car, your side views show your back side corners (lol that sounded funny).
Any way, first you want to check the side view mirror closest to the lane you want to switch to. Make sure no one is there. If there is, you turn on your signal and check their speed to see if they will let you in. If not, then you wait for them too pass you. Then turn on your signal, and gradually change lanes making sure that you are at the same speed as everyone else and straighten out in your desired lane. It better if you practice this, than just reading directions out of a Driver's Ed manual. Practice on a deserted road. Never do this on a highway, until you have mastered changing lanes. good luck.

Should I change my driving instructor or not?

If you have a reason to think you aren't learning what you should be as quick as you should then ask around for recommendations, but before you do take a good look at the reasons for changing over, are you being realistic in your expectations? I had pupils who thought they could have 4 hours of lessons and take a test, the realistic figure is 20–30 hours. Or is it just a personality clash? In which case yes u should change because you will be resistant to cooperating if you don't really like each other. Good luck

How can I overcome my anxiety while driving with my driving school? I've had about 20 driving lessons, but I'm still struggling a lot. I think it's mainly due to my anxiety. I don't feel comfortable with any instructor even though they're nice to me.

As long as the anxiety doesn’t paralyze or hinder you as a driver, I’d say it’s a healthy response to being a new driver. A vehicle is a heavy piece of machinery that can in fact kill someone. It makes sense to read and respect that concept. However, anyone can drive. There are people out there who are straight up dumb who can operate a vehicle. So if they can do it, so can you. A dose of anxiety while behind the wheel will keep you alert and aware. This is a good thing.Just keep on practicing and get better. It’s also a good lesson in facing your fears.I’ve personally had my drivers license since December last year, and I’m still not calm behind the wheel. In fact I’m very anxious. I sometimes have to turn the music up a little loud and sing to myself to calm myself down while driving, or even remain 100% concentrated (if driving a new route), where no one can talk to me. I do what it takes to prevent an accident, because I am paralyzed by the fear of running someone or something over one day. My fear, though uncomfortable, does keep me alert and has saved me from a couple of nasty situations.Just know that even after you get your lisence that anxiety ain’t automatically go away. I don’t know how long it takes to feel comfortable behind the wheel, but I do know that my anxiety has only helped me stay alert, which is a good thing.I’m still off the walls fearful of things like: lane changing, driving on a highway (I avoid it whenever possible), driving in areas with a lot of pedestrians. Those fears still leave me a little paralyzed, and exceed a healthy amount of anxiety needed to stay alert and in control. Thus, I am not tackling them until I feel more comfortable behind the wheel, and try to avoid these things whenever possible. I still try to challenge myself a little every now and then.Being a very cautious and responsible human being means I’m probably at a disadvantage for being a comfortable driver. This doesn’t mean that I give up, and neither should you. Just accept the anxiety as part of the driving experience. One day it’ll all feel better (I hope).

Should I change my driving instructor? So discouraging!?

Hello,

I am taking driving lessons and I can say I am half through to driving in a correct way, but my problem is my driving instructor. He is good generally, and shows attention and shows rules; he also takes me to different roads. The problem is whenever I want to take lessons and after the lessons I feel so anxious and upset because he makes me feel stupid and lowers my self-confidence; he also expects too much for a beginner and focuses on details in an unrealistic way. For instance, he asks me to use the signal lights in every single move, only to say that they are not that necessary in most cases-5 minutes later! He also asks me to pay attention in a crazy way to cars behind and beside me, even on the highway, and even when there is a big distance. Also, he keeps saying things like 'we have discussed this for so and so times, and you can't make this mistake'. I explained to him many times that I did not pretend I am perfect, and that he shouldn't force me to be perfect. I believe he is the source of my low-self- confidence in driving. I feel it's a weight when he is beside me (like I have to be anxious) and he keeps telling me turn right and left -he doesn't let me see my way or choose where to go. I am thinking of changing him. What do you think?

What is the best quality you will look in a driving school instructor if you hire one?

Cost should be way down the list. It amazes me that people pay more, per hour, for a hair stylist or manicurist, than they do for a licensed instructor. But the most important thing you want to see, from a school and its instructor, is a copy of their course, both in-class and in-car. Most states require this to be available, and yet it is one of the most frequently violated regulations. Never trust a school with only an answering machine and/or a PO Box address. You want face time with the owner/operator/instructor, at YOUR convenience, not theirs. You want to ask questions like:1) What assurances do I have for my child's, or my own, safety and comfort?2) Do you have a quid-pro-quo policy on missed appointments and/or cancellations? (By this, I mean that many schools, my own included, will charge you a lesson fee for not notifying the school/instructor of a cancelled appointment withing 1-2 business days of said appointment. And yet, many think nothing of calling you to say their instructor is sick, or the car is in the shop, and must cancel the appointment, even though you stayed home from work, or cancelled plans just to be there for that appointment. They should, at minimum, offer you one free lesson in recompense.)3) Ask to see the actual Instructor License(s) for the person who will be doing the teaching. This is also a requirement, in most states...to have a copy of that license on a wall, in plain sight of the public.4) For the in-car classes, insist on knowing what, generally, routes they will be using on each lesson. I have had several parents actually follow the car their student was in, for the entire lesson, just for their own comfort, and I have no problems with that. After all, your cute little 16 year-old girl is getting into a vehicle with  stranger, usually male, to go driving who knows where.5) Speaking of which...ask for, and insist upon, a female instructor if you are more comfortable with that.If ANY of the above suggestions, and their outcome, is making you nervous about the whole thing, run, run fast, to the next school on your list.
