Should I Get A Bra For My New Prius

Why are my new brake pads and rotors getting super hot?

Odds are someone added brake fluid to the master cylinder at some point before the brake work was done. Here is what can happen. When brake pads wear down the Piston of the calipers move farther out of the caliper cylinder to take up the space created by the missing brake pad material. When this happens the fluid level in the master cylinder drops. Somebody may have checked the fluid level at that time and added more fluid. When you had new pads put on the fluid in the caliper was forced back into the master cylinder. Now the master is overfilled. When you drive heat is generated in the caliper which causes the brake fluid to expand. Normally this expansion is accepted into the master, but if it is over filled there is nowhere for it to go so it pushes the calipers piston out which creates excessive friction between the brake pads and rotors. This of course creates more fluid expansion and the cycles continues and worsens. Anytime new pads are put on the fluid should always be checked so this does not happen. In reality there should never be a need to add brake fluid. If the fluid is low it either means that the brakes are worn or you have a leak in the system. Either way the car should immediately be checked by a qualified brake tech. This problem is often caused by taking your car to one of those quick oil change establishments where they check and fill all the cars fluids. You think they are doing you a favor, but in reality they are potentially causing a problem down the road. Again if the car is low on brake fluid there is a problem somewhere in the system and by simply adding brake fluid the other problem is being ignored.

Metal shavings in my brake fluid?

Very. The only metal-to-metal contact inside the fluid boundary occurs in the apply pistons in the calipers, and in the servo motor in the ABS control unit. In both of those components, rubber o-rings separate the opposed metal surfaces, preventing direct metal-on-metal friction.

If you are sure you have metal shavings, then you have a brake caliper that is going fail due to "galling" of the piston in the bore, which will freeze the piston and seize the caliper in a "locked-up" condition.

Do a correct (vacuum) flush of the brake calipers to remove any remaining fragments. If there are any fragments that appear "fresh" (shiny, not rusted) and they are localized to one caliper, the caliper should be removed, opened and inspected to see what is happening in the cylinder bore. If the piston and o-rings can be replaced, that will cost less than a new caliper.

If the metal fragments are found in more than one caliper, the ABS control unit should be removed and its servo should be pulled and inspected.

The most likely cause of GOOD components shedding metal fragments is massive fluid contamination - use of the wrong fluid, or a badly contaminated bottle.

The most common cause of metal fragments inside brake systems is BAD COMPONENTS - cheap aftermarket calipers.

Only you know enough of the history to know which it is in this case.

Will a 2008 Pontiac G5 front end bra(LeBra) fit a 2008 Chevy Cobalt?

I recently traded in my 2008 Pontiac G5 for a bigger vehicle. When I still had the G5 I ordered a front end bra by LeBra but never got around to putting it on the car because I was pregnant and didn't have the energy, in fact I never even took it out of the box. It's too late to return the bra so I'm going to sell it but wanted to know if it would fit the G5 and a 2008 Chevy Cobalt, since both vehicles look almost the same. Other accessories I have purchased in the past would fit either car but I'm just not positive about the bra. Thanks!

What does the letter B on the Highlander Hybrid gear shift stand for.?

On all Toyota hybrids the B stands for engine braking and should be used when you are riding the brakes descending a long steep slope such as a mountain pass and the vehicle switches from regenerative to friction braking because the HV battery is as fully charged as the computer will allow it to be.

It functions similarly to downshifting a conventional automatic or manual transmission vehicle when you don't want to overheat the friction brakes and cause them to fade.

Is it gay to own a V6 Mustang?

no not gay lol, the gts do cost alot more but there are mods for the v6 that can give you up to 390 hp. i have seen some v6 mustangs smoke gts. the only downside is that when the time comes to trade it in or sell it, its going to be a little harder to sell because everyone seems to think there not cool. honestly screw what everyone elts thinks and buy what you want. the funny thing is that most of these people that are calling you gay on here probably don't even have a car, or they driving a hunk of crap. dont listen to other people because at the end of the day you are driving a new mustang, better off with something you can afford
