Is it true that Hollywood is run by Jewish people?
It's not run by them in a conspiratorial sort of way, but it would be ignorant to say that 1. it wasn't founded by Jewish people and predominantly ran by Jewish people for most of the 20th Century; and 2. That Jewish people aren't still the most influential group in Hollywood. Throughout the 2000's it seems most of the studio exec jobs have been held by Jewish people. Start Googling the ethnic heritage of actors, producers and directors to be amazed by how much success Jewish people have had in Hollywood. For instance, check out Nicolas Cage's family. C'monThat being said, it makes sense that the culture of Hollywood has never been very sympathetic to the faith beliefs and moral values shared by a large section of the American population. Even if many of the Jewish people in Hollywood are not religiously observant Jews, you can't expect them to have much sympathy for a faith that is foreign to them and their heritage. Hollywood is certainly pro-America, but it tends to not be keen on the faith beliefs shared by the majority of the American population (Christianity).That shouldn't be shocking. It's sociology 101. I only bring it up because, as the article points out, there is a fear that if you point out that Jewish people have a lot of influence in Hollywood and that Hollywood is out of touch with many families' moral and religious values, that people may become anti-semitic. But I think the solution isn't hiding an obvious truth (that Jewish people happen to have enormous influence in Hollywood). It's being honest and having an open, understanding dialogue. Hiding it only amplifies conspiracy theorists' fears. And, as the article's author points out, it robs Jewish people of a pretty noteworthy accomplishment: the creation and stewarding of one of the most successful industries of our time.
How can you tell by someone's last name if they're Jewish?
If I may start with an anecdote to join the conversation with meyn lansmann.My wife and I went to Buenos Aires and we were amazed at the number of Jewish names we saw: Weiss, Kline, Goldberg. We knew a lot of Jews had come here before and during the war, but this many? We soon learned, however, that these weren't Jews, rather just Germans - these are German names, after all, the equivalent of White, Small and... well... Goldtown. (Indeed, these could very well have been descendants of Nazis fleeing Allied occupation). The reason names like Weiss and Klein are "Jewish" names in the US, while Beyer and Eisenhower are not is a matter of happenstance: The German Jews that came to the US happened to have names like Weiss, while the non-Jewish Weiss's stayed or ended up in Argentina. So, the stereotypical American Jewish names -- Goldberg, Goldstein, Greenberg, Greenstein, etc, are a function of most American Jews (but not all) being Ashkenazi/Eastern European.(Why Eastern European Jews have the names they do is another story for another question.)Still yet, some last names are very much Jewish by design: Cohen, Cohn, Katz (abbreviation of Cohen Tzedek) are derivative of the Kohanim, the high priest tribe; Levi, Levy are from the Levy tribe, the 2nd in command; Kantor is another clergy member.Of course there are exceptions: Names are patrilineal and religion is matrilineal for Jews, and American Jews come from all over, not just Germany.Having said that, though, you can make some generalizations: Names like Cohen are 99% likely to be JewishNames like Weiss are 75% likely to be Jewish in the USNames like Miller are about 50% Jewish.And a whole bunch of others, you can't really tell.Like Ettlinger.
What do u think of people saying hollywood is bias in favor of jews/israel/israelis?
Its not that Im anti semitic( though I have a feeling the attacks will start) its just that so many actors/models/fashion designers that are jews/israeli get a ton of press even though their not all that. People say their is a conspiracy, I dont know about all that, but what is the reason for this? I feel like if Muslims get more into hollywood, they would then be accepted more by people, but their are only a few Muslims, a handful. In the movie business in Hollywood, why are most actors, producers, directors are mainly Jewish?
They aren’t. That’s a holdover from the early days of the business, because most of the big studios were founded by Jewish businessmen and they would give jobs to family members—Carl Laemmle, who started Universal Pictures, was notorious for that—mainly because they were the only people they knew they could trust, but as the industry grew a lot more non-Jews got into it. Darryl F. Zanuck, who ran 20th Century Fox for decades, was a Protestant from Nebraska, Mack Sennett was an Irish Catholic from Canada, Trem Carr and W. Ray johnston from Monogram were Protestants from the Midwest, and so on. The whole “the liberal Jews control Hollywood and are indoctrinating our children!” is a favorite conspiracy theory on the right and was basically the driving force behind the McCarthy era. Many on the right, then as now, were virulently anti-Semitic and if they could get the public to equate “Jewish” with “Communist”, so much the better. It was no coincidence that most of the infamous “Hollywood Ten” were Jews and that most of the “friendly” witnesses who testified against them and other Jews in the industry weren’t.So there are Jews in the entertainment business. There are also Jews in the dry-cleaning business, and the real-estate business, and the restaurant business, and the plumbing-supply business, and the landscaping business, etc., etc. Funny you didn’t mention them.

I think he’s highlighting a truth that some people have a hard time accepting: certain groups of people do better than others in certain industries. It’s not meant to be a racist statement or a statement of superiority, but it’s reflective of cultural differences. The Jews have a religious tradition of education, with reading a consistent part of this tradition, and a minimum requirement to have a bar mitzvah. They are internationally connected and supportive of each other. This means that in a democratic meritocracy, they more easily rise to top positions and are successful. It’s the same with Asians in America; they do very well overall.The problem is that people mistake this natural phenomenon for an intentional organization of Jewish people bent on control. Joel Stein is trying, and in my opinion failing, to poke fun at this stupid misconception with a little bit of satire. The Jewish people he mentions probably have no real relationship to one another, and some of them might not even be 100% Jewish, but just have Jewish ancestry and Jewish last names. My dad was Jewish, gave me a Jewish name, but never practiced Judaism in any way. If I become a CEO of an Entertainment company, does that make me Jewish?As access to education improves, and differences between cultures become less and less noticeable, this phenomenon will eventually fade away.
If Jews really control the media/ banks etc then why /?
In the last few days weve had an almost constant parading of the age old lie / conspiricy theory / propoganda that us jews control the banks, the media, hollywood etc so to all of those out there that believe this - please can you tell me 1 ) If us jews control the media, how is it that even a single bad thing is said about Jews and Israel? surely if we have that power we'd prevent any and all criticism ?? and if not - why not ? and what then would be the point of us controlling the world media ?? 2 ) If we control the banks etc then why are we not all rich ?? If we really have that power then why not make all jewish people rich and keep all goyim poor ? why not make sure that israel has all the money in the world ?? what is the point of us controlling the banks ?? 3 ) If we have such power and are plotting to take over the world yada yada yada - then why havent we dont it already ?? why have all this power and not use it ?? what is it exactly we are supposed to be waiting for ?? come on guys - leave out the juvanile ''kike'' insults and give me some real reasons here ?? im dying to know ...
