Should I Sign Up For La Casting If I Already Have Actors Access

Can I submit for sag roles on lacasting and actors access if I'm non union?

Yes you can submit. If the casting director loves you he will take you in to read. And if the director wants you they will get you into the union. So submit for everything!

Is actors access safe?

Actors access is one of the ONLY few legit online sites. In LA especially, agents get their breakdowns through Actorsaccess and submit you electronically through it. Actorsaccess is best for Film/TV. Castingnetworks.com (LACASTING, NY CASTING, SFCASTING, etc.) are best for commercials.

Here are the ONLY few LEGIT online sites:
-Actorsaccess.com
-LACasting.com
-NowCasting.com
-NYCasting.com
-NYCastings.com
-Backstage.com (you can get the newspaper at bookstores)

Free, but proceed with caution:
-Craigslist
-Mandy.com

SCAMMY ONES TO DEFINITELY AVOID!
-Exploretalent.com
-Onesourcetalent.com
-Instantcast.com
-Talenthunter.com
-Talent6.com
-Talentjug.com

La Casting or Actors Access?

If you're going to be a serious actor in LA, you have to JOIN BOTH!

LACasting is best for commercials.

ActorsAccess is best for film/tv.

When you get an agent, they will make you join these two sites. More than 97% of the casting directors post ONLY on LACasting and almost ALL of the major film/tv casting directors post on Actorsaccess/breakdown services. These sites become free or cost less when you get an agent.

Know that you're ONLY seeing 30% of the work out there. Only Agents have access to the other 70% of the work. Hence why you NEED an agent.

Actors access or la casting?

I got an agent a while back, and I was only signed up for La Casting. I haven t gotten that many auditions(maybe about 6 in the period of several months). I would like to be sent out for more. Would you recommend also trying actors access? Which one do you prefer?

Is Actors Access worth the money?

Actorsaccess is one of the sites any legitimate agent will tell you to register with (along with backstage.com, lacasting.com, nycasting.com and/or nowcasting.com). Actorsaccess not only lists film and television auditions, but also has a lot of auditions for commercials, which would be the most auditions you'd find posted in a city like Chicago. There aren't that many tv shows shot there and there might only be 1 film a month shot there, and that might not even do any open casting calls

Actorsaccess is free to sign up and only $2 to submit to a casting call, or you can pay $68 for an annual subscription that allows for unlimited submissions. That's MUCH cheaper than many other casting call sites which charge $39/month or more. You don't have to pay for extra photos -- it's not worth it. Just set up a free account. I would not recommend signing up for the annual subscription unless you have been using the site for a few months and it looks like there are enough casting calls in the Chicago area for people in your age group with your experience level. Then if it does look like you will be submitting to more than 34 casting calls a year, you can always sign up for a subscription at any time.

Is LAcasting.com a scam?

lacasting.com and it's sister company nycasting.com is definitely not a scam. It is one of the few legitimate casting call sites along with actorsaccess.com, nowcasting.com and backstage.com

Lacasting.com lists open casting calls in Los Angeles. If you don't live in LA there is no reason to sign up as you won't find any castings near you and no casting director is going to contact you if you don't live locally

These are just casting calls, not auditions. There are tens of thousands of actors in LA who subscribe to the site. If you see a casting call where you meet the requirements for the role they are casting (age range, ethnicity, physical features, special skills) then you submit your headshot and resume. Then the casting director will go through the hundreds or thousands of submissions received and decide who, if anyone, gets called in for an audition. You will need to have minimum 2-3 years acting experience as well as training from the top acting schools/coaches in LA (i.e. Margie Haber, Beverly Hills Playhouse, Ivana Chubbuck Studio, Howard Fine Studios, etc) to have any chance of getting called for an audition. If you don't you are pretty much just wasting your money submitting because most of the other people submitting for the same role will have this training and experience

You can set up an account and profile with 1 picture for free, but your chances of anyone contacting you are slim to none. You have to submit to casting calls which will either be free if you sign up for the $14.95/month subscription or $1.49 to submit to each individual casting
I would not pay upfront just to see for the first two months how many casting calls there are for your age, ethnicity and experience level to see if it's cheaper to just pay to apply to each one if there are not going to be at least 10 casting calls a month you are submitting to

How do I get into acting in LA.?

Join all of the online actors' sites (LAcasting, actors access, Backstage, etc).If you don't have experience auditioning on-camera then take a class that will help prepare you for the auditioning process. I would recommend Amy Lyndon's course. She's very thorough in preparing you for the business.Get some good theatrical and commercial head shots that represent you accurately.Once you're comfortable with the auditioning process start submitting yourself for everything you can via the sites above (student films, short films, etc). This way you will learn to handle audition jitters easily and will gain some credits to put on your resume.Your next step, once you have some credits and are comfortable in front of casting directors, is to find a good representative (i.e. a manager and/or an agent). Start going to some agent showcases. Unless you get extrordinarily lucky, your first agent will be at a B or C level office. Even if you could get into an A-list agency right away, you probably don't want to. As an unknown you'll be very low on their priority list and won't be provided with a lot of opportunities. Starting off with a lower level agency that actually works for you is much better initially until you can work your way up with more serious credits.Your next step depends on the kind of acting you want to do. The way you approach your career progression for tv and film is different. Also, do you want to do sitcoms, soaps, comedy, drama, etc? Feel free to contact me for further details on this last point.
