Should I Tell My Dutch Friend That I

How do you say these sentences in Dutch: "Your my best friend" and "Do you want to hang out this weekend?"?

Your my best friend = Jouw mijn beste vriend(in).
You're my best friend = Je bent m'n beste vriend(in)*.

Do you want to hang out this weekend? =
Heb je zin om dit weekend iets leuks te gaan doen samen?
[Literally: Are you in the mood to do something fun together this weekend?]

Ye bent m'n beste freend(in).
Hep ye zinn ohm dit weekent eats leuks te gaan doon sah-meh?

*Vriend if the friend is male, vriendin if she's female.

How do I get this Dutch guy friend of mine to like me more than friends?

I think Dutch like Sri Lankans +++ there is a lot of mixed nations living there. They are very proud of having this free world. I have personal experience and always cite that when I want to complement them. My Dutch Fiancee never showed jealousy. Not only that, but when I teased him one day, he declared seriously that he loves me, and sees only me. It wouldn’t matter how many other beautiful women try it, he only wants me. He said not to have a minimum doubt about that, and if I had it, then maybe we are not on the same level. You can’t do much more than maintaining your connection online and meet him as soon as possible. ( I understand you are not in Holland, right?) Having a relationship from a distance could become a very strong tie, as a lot of unsaid things are imagined the way each one wants them. The reality might be quite different, but the thoughts activate the mind and it can manipulate reality. If you live in two far away states, little you can do to control his actions. He could be with many girls there, but not necessarily for anything more but sex and company. If you have managed to keep him interested, he must have found something he wants to have in his life. Do not change. On the other hand you have to live your life where you are the best way possible, without going against your values. 50/50 chance I guess!

Where can I find Dutch friends?

I recommend going to a balfolk for the same reasons as I listed in the answer below:Sjoerd Smit's answer to What's the best way for foreigners to meet new people in the Netherlands?

Will the young Dutch call their friends "Lieffie"?

No.Lieffie is Amsterdam dialect. It may be used elsewhere in Holland, but it isn’t in other parts of the country. I’m 54 and I don’t think I’ve ever heard it except on old cabaret shows in which characters used Amsterdam dialect for a laugh. It seems rather old-fashioned to me, but I never hear Amsterdam dialect that is less than 60 years old (it was commonly used on national TV and radio until then) so I can‘t really tell. But it certainly isn’t used nationwide.Besides, it is not used to address friends, but to address lovers or women.

How do you say I love you (in a friendly way not love thing) in Dutch?

I'd like to say it to a Dutch friend.....but that "I love you" between friends, not lovers......how do you say it in Dutch? Please, tell me the correct thing, no computer translator stuff......if you're Dutch mother tongue that's even better, or at least, a good Dutch speaker

Can my friend and I get into JYP?

I see so many people both here and on your other question trying to discourage you and that's not right. It may be so that there's mostly Asian girls in KPOP groups, but you have nothing to lose by trying. So if this is what you wanna do then I'd at least give it a shot Ally. You don't know unless you try. Even if one group didn't accept you at least you tried to fulfill your dreams. And there's more then one KPOP group to audition for. So if one doesn't accept you maybe the next one will. So don't ever let anyone stand in the way of your dreams and when you become a big KPOP star, please don't forget me ok? Again go for it and at least try and good luck Ally :) :)

In the TV show friends Ross says the Dutch word that sounds like Azul. What does this mean in Dutch?

The word is ezel and it means as* (as in donkey). It's used pretty much like the meaning in English, i.e. the animal or a stupid person. He also said, "Jij hebt seks met ezels" which I'm pretty sure you can figure out the meaning of.

Side note 1: The woman who's mother was supposed to be Dutch had terrible pronunciation - clearly not a real Dutch speaker. Gunther's pronunciation was pretty good for an English speaker almost as though he actually knows the language.

Side note 2: In Season 3 episode 9, (The One with the Football) the gang were playing football on Thanksgiving and Chandler and Joey were competing for a Dutch girl, Marga. This woman was definitely not Dutch - her accent wasn't anything like a Dutch accent. She didn't even pronounce her own name correctly.

There are many more references to Holland in Friends. Funny - I wonder where the fascination comes from.

What factors help foreigners to make friends with Dutch people in the Netherlands?

I can only add one thing to the already given answers: Be sincere and true. The Dutch HATE phony politeness. If you ask me to have dinner with you some time, and the invitation never comes, it hurts my feelings. Why ask me how I'm doing, when you don't want to hear the answer? Please, tell us what you mean. Don't bore us with standard sentences (as pointed out above), because those aren't telling us anything that matters. They say the Dutch can be rude. You know why? Because the Dutch like honesty. If we ask you: 'does this dress look good on me?', please say 'no, because x' if the dress doesn't look good. Otherwise, you will let someone make a fool out of herself by walking around in a silly or even awful dress. So please, don't be scared to tell the truth, if the truth isn't THAT painful.

If I say to my Dutch friends when going to a restaurant that "Let's go Dutch", will they be offended?

There have been episodes in my life that money was really tight.By each paying for what they themselves ordered, I was able to minimize my expenditure without having to forgo on going out with people altogether. At other moments I was the one with plenty of money. If I knew someone else was to pick up the tab or we would just split, I could not order what I liked because I would not want the others to pay for my carefree choices. In those days I preferred to drink a type of cognac, Remy Martin, that was relatively expensive and instead I ended up with a stupid beer or indifferent wine, like the others.I have young nephews and nieces and I like to take them out to diner, as I do my own children, every now and then. Of course I pay for them it is a treat. To my mind paying for what you order is an excellent way to take responsability for your own choices. I know people from other countries (and many Dutch too) think it is cheep, but I think it is cheep to have others pay for your choices.
