Why can't I buy and use a Kindle legally in Singapore?

Kindle availability in Singapore has everything to do with Amazon and little to do with Singapore.See, for instance, this list of countries where the Kindle is not available in:Kindle is currently not available in the following countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Burkina Faso, Chad, China, Cuba, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Gambia, Guinea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Democratic People’s Republic Of Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, New Zealand, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Somalia, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Yemen. We're not alone in terms of lack of availability. The real reason is why, and that's not easy to answer.I was talking to an Amazon product manager for Kindle a couple weeks back, and she said that the reasons were 'political'. What this means I'm not sure - (i.e., is it political internally, as in they have internal resistance to an international rollout, or political in terms of Amazon not liking these countries?)But it's not hard to imagine why Amazon might be reluctant to do a worldwide push for the Kindle: they took a year before selling to the UK, and three years before selling to Canada. Whether or not they start selling in Singapore depends on their distribution and manufacturing capabilities, not on Singapore's attractiveness as a country.

What is the cheapest way to ship goods from the US to Singapore?

I did a review a month back on the various forums this was my recommendations in descending order below. So i tried shipping a 2kg parcel, dimensions about 30cm x 30cm x 30cm via Gshipexpress. However they charged me for 9kg (61 SGD), and even though I asked for a justification twice on the email, they never replied me. I'm going to try 65daigou next. 1. Gshipexpress – cheap, latest reviews have all been very good, and they also do free repacking of various packages into one 2. 65daigou – cheap, and generally reviews have been good 3. vPost – mid-price, bad for shipping big parcels because they take size of parcel into account in addition to weight, service so-so 4. Borderlinx – seems to be reliable but expensive with the strong US dollar 5. Comgateway – many many bad reviews, “less than satisfactory ever since they relocated”, almost same price as Borderlinx now 6. Hopshopgo – get discount paying by paypal, but its powered by comgateway 7. Airfrov – no reviews 8. Aramex – no reviews 9. Flexicon – no reviewsEmail me at weinurn @ gmail . com  for anything at all.

What is the cheapest way to ship goods from Canada to Singapore?

It’s Really simple actually. You will need to know a few things before you can go to the carriers for shipping prices:Dimensions of the packageWeightPostal code from and toThe most simple way is to use eShipper (http://bit.ly/2TFy7kQ) . eShipper allows you to plug these in and gives you preferential rates in real time from the different carriers ( DHL,UPS,Purulator, Canada Post etc)So you are able to compare the rates and choose the best price for your needs.Goodluck

What is the point of using services for US/Canada addresses and use services like Vpost, Borderlinx, ViaAddress and Comgateway when the shipping rates are still relatively high?

They offer a concierge/Buy For Me service for sites that don't take international credit cards/other payment methodsIf the item(s) is cheap enough or if you want something that will never be available in your region (like Kindles, etc). A lot of US sites offer free ground shipping in the continental US, so that's one less shipping fee to pay. Out of the ones listed in your question, I believe Comgateway is not terribly expensive - I haven't tried it specifically (went with HopShopGo, which is powered by them).

How safe is it to use services like comGateway or borderlinx for shipment from US Address?

Everything comes with a risk associated with it, these guys charge you for shipping on volumetric weights Vs actual weights, you better check the exact weight ( both ) before shipping, you need to know clear weight and charges before you ship. Also ensure you know about customs or taxes or other charges associated clearly before you ship through them so that you dont have surprises in the end. When it comes to safety nothing is safe in shipping industry you never know if you receive a fragile item safe , you have to do an end to end tracking and may be you can insure your package if you donot want to have the risk of damages or pilferage. Find out whome the package will be handed over to in advance so that you have a clear idea on who is shipping ( again they have tie up with DHL/UPS/Fedex etc for shipping ).Keep contacts of source and destination offices in advance so you can track your package, constant tracking of package expedites movement of shipment most often.
