Should We Start A Plan Where Libs Who Don

Why don’t liberals in the United States move to a more progressive country?

Some of us are, but don’t get too happy just yet! Here’s a hint for you. An American living in Spain, New Zealand, the UK, Canada, or on Mars is still an American. He still has his vote. He still has his voice. He still has a right to move to ANY of the 50 States and 5 inhabited territories in these not-so-United States. The only difference between him and you, Mr. Conservative Elitist, is that he also has the right to move to a foreign country as easily as you do to a state. He’s exercised that right, just like the non-dual-citizen Liberal might exercise his right to move to California, or you might exercise your right to move to Texas. But not all Liberals are Dual Citizens. Ya know why that is?Dual Citizenship means you have to immigrate to a foreign country. We don’t want to empower the crazies in foreign countries to become like the crazies in the USA’s GOP, so we want to dot our Is and Cross our Ts before moving to Canada or wherever else he ends up moving to.Damnit, it’s our country too. Maybe some of us have decided to stay and join the resistance. If we all moved to Canada, while Canada might end up the utopia we made it into, it’d make it damn easy for you to revoke our citizenship and keep us from visiting our friends and family here in the States. We grew up here. Our lives are as entwined with this land as yours are. Maybe some of us want to live in the US just because of that.Moving is expensive. Only the best off of us can afford to do so.In short, your question makes us laugh. You don’t grasp that you drive out the people whose skills enrich the country. You don’t grasp that just because we’re not physically present in the US any more that we still can influence your politics (3 to 6 million of us, as of Y2K, though it’s hard to track current numbers). When I move to Canada, the State of Colorado will treat my current address as my home address unless and until I move back to the States. They’ll keep a mailing address for me of my new home, and mail out my ballot to, say, Vancouver or Toronto, and I’ll sit down, bubble it in, and send it back. I’m more likely to vote straight ticket now because I will be spending my time learning about my new Members of Parliament up in Canada. So will my wife. So, you’ve taken two left of center moderates who have voted Green, Libertarian, and even GOP in the past and turned them into something that sure resembles hard-core Democrats. And you’re crowing about it on Quora. Good job, dude. Good job. ;)

Why do Libs only care about the Unemployed, instead of the Millions of people losing their HC from Obamacare?

The Republicans have adopted a deliberate strategy to react in fake outrage to EVERYTHING Obama does or says or wants. The problem with this strategy is that if Obama really did do something truly outrageous, how would we know? I think most Americans see that 90% of opposition to Obamacare is really just opposition to Obama.

That's one reason. Another reason is that people who are losing their health care plans are the ones who had crappy individual plans to begin with. Group plans are better for both insurance companies and insurance customers. But if you're unemployed, or self-employed, you can only get an individual plan so you pay a lot more for a lot less. THOSE are the plans that are being cancelled today by the insurance companies.

One of the provisions of Obamacare was for states to create 'exchanges', public plans that anyone could join. Anyone with an individual plan would have done better to drop it and move to a group plan.

For instance take me. Self employed (now in early retirement). The offers I got for insurance here in California were $750 a month (just for me), $4500 yearly deductible, and then they pay 50%. (And that was just based on my age and zip code. When they found out I was type 2 diabetic, they may have just simply refused to cover me). But under our state group plan the numbers look much better-- $250/mo, $1000 deductible, 80%. No exclusions.

(A friend of mine who had an individual policy found that she could go to the ER only for an -accident-. So if she had appendicitis or heart attack, she was SOL! Is that the kind of health insurance YOU want?)

The mistake Obama made was to allow states to opt out of the exchanges. Which then, of course, EVERY red state did! So if you live in Mississippi or South Carolina and you lose your crappy individual plan, you're SOL. Can't blame Obama for that! Except perhaps that he's too willing to compromise.

HOW can we DEPORT ALL THE LIBERALS???!!!!!?

1) Get 'em out of the out of the country by telling them that France is having a sale on white surrender flags. 2) Tell 'em that the terrorists in Bagdad want to "talk" to better understand Americans, and the Libs must show up unarmed.
3) Tell 'em that Canada is raising their taxes to extraordinary levels and they'll go there. 4) Tell 'em Brazil is completely unaffected by global warming. 5) Tell 'em Al Gore is going to Ethiopia to invent the internet again.

Do liberals not understand how insurance works?

The fact that you compared women and people with preexisting conditions with burned down houses and wrecked cars says a lot about your view of people in general. A burned down house, which is destroyed, is not comparable to a person who has a chronic disease, who is not destroyed (unless you don’t give them healthcare).Basic healthcare should never ever be about profit. If it weren’t about profit, things like women using insurance more or preexisting conditions wouldn’t be an issue. Basic healthcare should be something that no one ever has to worry about.Do conservatives not understand socialism (also: SOCIALISM, not COMMUNISM)? Insurance is simply for-profit socialism; everyone pays in so that everyone can benefit. The difference between it and true socialistic healthcare models is that it is for profit and they can thus discriminate against people in order to maintain their profit margins. When arguing against universal healthcare, the right complained about ‘Government Death Panels,’ but they seem to completely ignore the private insurance death panels that already exist (insurance companies can deny coverage for tests and treatments they deem unnecessary, regardless of a doctor’s orders - a friend of mine may have died from his cancer specifically because his insurance declined to cover a specific treatment—which was working once they started it, but too late to save him—until other, non-effective—read ‘cheaper for the insurer’—treatments were tried first). Social Security is ‘socialism’ in a true sense, as is Medicaid, yet conservatives who rely on those programs are constantly voting against their best interests when they vote Republican. It actually just occurred to me, too, that a great deal of conservatives who complain about how our tax revenues are spent are already retired and generally no longer pay taxes. Huh.Anyway, liberals are not stupid. They just see the health insurance industry as nearly legalized extortion, where profit is placed above people. They view that as wrong, and rightly so.

Since Libs think that Guns Kill people, Should we take forks and spoons away from fat people?

Making something against the law will not always stop it.. If guns were ever against the law than only the bad guys would have them..
Having a gun will not help all the time but being defenseless will never help..

The Liberal ideology is a road to failure!
They seem to have abandoned logic and reason.
They are Advocates of a policy that empowers a strong federal government to enslave its people with the high tax burden incident to the support of extravagant and unnecessary social programs destructive to both the work ethic among the lower class, and the incentive to innovate and succeed among the working people .
===============================
Calling 911 and asking the bad guy to wait is not a viable option
Better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it!!!

How do you as an American plan to heal the divide between conservatives and liberals?

Conservatives have dominated US economic policy for decades. It hasn’t worked out well for most of our citizens. The liberal wing of the Democratic Party has recently gained some purchase on the political hillside. It’s a steep climb and we liberal/progressives may have to drag millions of unwilling fellow Americans up that hillside. But if we get results, if we better the lives of average folks, this would go a long way toward repairing the rifts between the various camps that exist in the country today. What these camps, made up of mostly working and middle class citizens, have in common is that the system isn’t working for them. They get nothing but promises from politicians, promises that are never kept. Now you can say that our current president is trying to keep his promises, and hey, I’ll give that to him. But these promises are all attached to things that aren’t really going to make a difference in the lives of his supporters. When it comes to the economics of the country, he’s just giving us the same old tired conservative policies. If this new wave of liberal Democrats can actually deliver positive change in the future the big divide can be bridged. Look at the ACA. At first it was roundly condemned by millions of Americans. Then it helped these people and the attitude towards it shifted. Healthcare turned out to be the biggest reason for Democratic success in 2018.An important aspect of all this is how campaigns are financed. The reason politicians haven’t helped most Americans is because they’ve instead helped the so-called Donor Class. And it makes sense. You help the people who helped you get your job. Senator Bernie Sanders showed us a new way in 2016. You can fund a serious contender for high office through collective small donations via the internet. This is the future of campaign finance for Democrats. If The People fund your campaign you will help The People.I’m an American who wants to heal the divide between conservatives and liberals. I believe the way to do this is to chuck the labels and simply try to help all US citizens. Liberal Democrats have to try to help even those who oppose them. If we have to drag millions of our fellow Americans kicking and screaming out of the shadow of cynicism and despair, well, we’ll just have to do that. I harbor no illusions. Some will never admit that we improved the economics of their lives. Some will resent us no matter what we do. We have to try to help them anyway.
