Showing Dominance Over My Husky Pup So That He Wont Bite Me

How did I dominate a husky?

I know what you mean when my lab was really bad I would give him a little smack(not hurting) It was mostly out of arrogance of dog behavior though. Smacking is not naturally a dominant behavior, pull his scruff, look him in the eyeshold him by the scruff and firmly say NO! If my dog bites(which he hasn't done since he was a pup)I'd take his muzzle in my hands and firmly(not too hard) squeeze it and say NO! dogs understand this more than hitting.

How do I get my new German Shepard-Husky puppy Mix to stop biting me so hard and to play softly? It's a female if that makes any difference.

I have to wonder how old your puppy was when she was taken from her mother and litter-mates. Eight weeks is the standard minimum age that a puppy should be separated from its litter. Any earlier than that, and the puppy will not learn from its brothers and sisters what appropriate play biting is. This behavior is learned from around five weeks to eight weeks of age.You can try taking her to a trainer, but she would have learned in her litter by example. When she bites too hard, stop initiating play and say “no”. Then back off or walk away from her. Re-engage her in play after a short period. When she bites too hard again, repeat the aforementioned steps.German Shepherds are intelligent dogs. She’ll pick up on what you are doing and will slowly begin to change her play response.

If you bite a dogs ear for dominance does it work????

Don't listen to any body on this I'm a dog trainer and if a dog bites you then you take its ear and pinch it really hard to show your the boss ( it doesn't hurt them it just shows them that your the boss) PS. remember don't listen to the other people listen to me I'm a trained dog trainer bye

Is it bad to bite a Husky's ear to get it to stop biting?

First of all how would you like to be bitten as a child if you did something naughty but you didn't understand why you were being bitten? It wouldn't be nice and you wouldn't learn.

So for the biting and chewing, buy her bones/chews that she can chew on to help her teething. When she bites you make a loud noise like stomp your foot or clap your hands and say "hey" firmly. This will scare her but not hurt her. Dominance isn't hurting a dog, it is ensuring that the dog simply knows who's boss, meaning they would happily roll onto their back for your without you asking and without them being scared.

Siberian Husky Biting, chewing, humping?

Dominance is the old theory and widely discredited in the professional training world. Dogs are ruled by their instincts and the instinct to breed is a strong one. So humping is an expression of that. If your puppy is humping it's because he's starting to become aware of the instinct to mate and is trying it out. He will continue to do it until he learns that it is not acceptable. Neutering will also help. Until he is neutered you need to praise him when he isn't humping and reward that. When he does begin to hump you need to tell him know and then go directly into a sit command. Reward the sit. That teaches him that the humping was wrong but when he behaves and sits he's going to get a reward. He'll learn that sitting is better than humping.

As for the biting, every puppy bites. They are experimenting and learning what is acceptable. It's actually a good thing to let them bite on you at a young age so they learn bite inhibition. When they bite too hard, immediately let them know. I do that by yelping and starting to cry. The puppy will stop and look at you like you're crazy. Praise and reward that because they stopped biting. The pup will learn how hard is too hard and that will help in the future with biting.

Get away from dominance theory. It's old school and it doesn't work. Get onto the positive reinforcement theory.

Male Siberian Husky wont stop peeing in my house.?

He is an 8 month old husky and he is the hardest dog I have ever had. He is also the smartest dog I have ever had so I am confused. I have him in a crate almost 18 hours a day and the second I leave him alone, he lifts his leg on something. I have 2 other dogs & they are perfectly house broken. He is being fixed this week. He also digs massive craters in the yard, climbs trees and destroys everything he can but the lifting his leg on everything is driving me crazy. He even pee'd on one of my other dogs while he was sleeping and they got into a huge fight. I have even tried DAP (Dog Appeasing Pheromone) from the vet and it has not helped. I don't want to give him away but I am considering it as I cannot live in a piss filled house. I have tried locking him out of the house but my other 2 dogs cannot go outside & they have to hold it in all day until I get home. I have also tried separating him outside from the other dogs, but he goes nuts being isolated from the other dogs and easily escapes from his barriers. Any suggestions? If not, does anyone know of a husky rescue in Los Angeles that I can place him to give him a loving home? Please help !!!

How can I stop my Siberian Husky from biting me?

My Husky is a 15 month old female. She has food aggression really bad but she also bites me over little things like, Taking one of the kids toys away from her, and trying to move her. She has bit me several times, some times over food, bones, and treats but not always. I'm very worried one day she is gonna do a lot of damage and by then it will be too late. I've tried pretty much all the training methods I know of and she stills continues to do it. She has gotten so bad that now she growls at the babies. She also has pretty much all my family scared to be around her or to let their kids be around her. I love her so much I don't know what I would do without her :( Someone please help, Thanks!!

I have a 2-month-old Rottweiler puppy that bites and shows aggressive behavior towards family members. He is kind towards strangers. Does he not like us?

He is being a typical rottie pup, he’s trying to assert himself as the dominant pack member, testing boundaries and more importantly his human’s resolve in dealing with him. It’s crucial at this age you nip it in the bud, do not hand play, only use toys (by hand play I mean rough housing)Every time he displays this aggression you immediately pick him up and shut him out of the room for a few minutes. If he has a crate NEVER use it as a punishment or else you’ll have a pup that hates being in his crate, use a safe room that you can shut the door and leave him.Repeat these time outs and train with him often so he realises that you’re in control not him. Remember the bigger picture, it’s cute and cuddly now but he will turn into a rottie in excess of 50kgs with unadulterated amounts of power. Do not be lax on his training vocal control is essential, try restraining a fully grown rottie and you’ll know why.My advice implement time outs, more training and bring a dog trainer in. Make sure you avoid any hands on rough housing trainers, positive reinforcement only. This pup is your responsibility, how he turns out depends on the effort you put in NOW. Nurture supersedes nature. Good luck.

HELP! My puppy is biting me and breaking skin?

I have a 10.5 week old shepherd/husky mix puppy and he has a biting problem. He bites me when im walking on my socks up to anywhere he can reach. This is hard pinching bites sometimes breaking skin. He gets plenty of exercise and chew toys. Some examples of what ive tried already are: loud "yelps", "no", "crying" and leaving for 10 minutes(never worked bit worse) then I have been trying grabbing back of his neck and yelling "no biting" (this worked for a day or two) then when he continues he kind of gets the message when I flip him over on his back and grab onto his mouth and say "no biting". PLEASE HELP , HE IS GETTING BIGGER AND BIGGER AND I HAVE TO PUT A STOP TO THIS NOW. If I cant get this stopped im giving him away.
