Sometimes it feels like I have a splinter in my skin, but I don't. What is this?

I’ve had similar.Do you ever deal with broken glass?I’ve known shards of glass get into a towel or a cloth, say, so when you dry your self you get tiny cut and don’t know where it came from.If it’s not mechanical injury but some recurring systemic sensation, and if it’s a nuisance you want to rid of, you migh try homeopathy. Tens of thousands of people benefit from homeopathy every year, despite what the pseudo-skeptics would have you believe - and if you try it, you could benefit too.One of several homeopathic remedies for splinter-like sensation in skin is hepar sulph. Also it has a marked periodicity about it. However it is best to consult an experienced homeopath who can examine the problem in depth. Homeopathic prescription is very different from conventional pharma and may seem unfamiliar - it is based on the person, not so much on a particular diagnosis, and a single remedy may address several health conditions (whereas pharma would give several drugs that might interact negatively). Also, you take very few doses, and take them separately from meals, and stop dosing when you start to get better (very unlike pharma).

Reddish, itchy nipple! HELP ME PLEASE!?

I think you may just be experiencing a rash but here is some more info to help you out. Take note that you just may have a simple rash or chapped skin none of these maybe the cause of what your going through but this info may help you get to the bottom of it. =)

Nipple symptoms can vary in character and intensity depending on the underlying cause and individual factors. They can be constant, or may be felt only when you examine or squeeze your nipple. Nipple symptoms can gradually build for weeks or months, or they can appear suddenly, such as nipple symptoms of mastitis or pregnancy. Nipple symptoms can occur in both breasts at once or in one breast at a time.

Your nipples and breasts will undergo normal changes during the course of your life in size, shape, consistency and appearance. Hormonal changes are a common cause of nipple symptoms. Hormonal changes can occur at the onset of puberty; during menstrual cycles, pregnancy, breastfeeding, perimenopause and menopause; and with the use of hormone medications.

Nipple symptoms can be caused by physical changes, such as weight fluctuations, or other causes, such as nipple injury or breast surgery. Nipple symptoms can also be caused by breast cancer and other diseases, disorders or conditions, such as breast infections and hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid).

Seek prompt medical care if you have unexplained nipple symptoms in one or both nipples. Left undetected and untreated, some underlying causes of nipple symptoms, such as breast cancer, can lead to serious and life-threatening complications. Seeking regular medical care throughout your life improves your chances of discovering some serious diseases at their earliest, most curable stages.

Can anyone tell me about digestive malabsorption disorders?

My primary care doctor has referred me to a gastroenterologist for evaluation for a possible malabsorption problem. My only symptoms are unexplained weight loss of a little over 10% of my body weight over the past 6 months and somewhat frequent bowel movements (not diarrhea, just 'going' 3-4X/day, almost always in the morning). My appetite, diet and activity level remain unchanged and I feel fine. I'm too skinny as it is and very worried about losing any more weight.

For the record, I'm a 43-year-old female in otherwise good health; I do have a family history of pancreatic, prostate and colon cancer.

Has anyone else experienced similar symptoms? If so, what was your diagnosis?

I appreciate any insights.

Could dirt trapped under skin from an old scrape cause fibromygia-like symptoms on one side of the body?

I have dirt trapped under the surface of the skin on my LEFT knee, from a scrape that wasn't cleaned properly during childhood. It looks like a tattoo, a dash about 3 mm across. I can only vaguely remember it happening, so I was very young, and it's gotten smaller and fainter over the years, so I guess whatever is in there is slowly dissolving.

I also have symptoms very similar to fibromyalgia (according to a rheumatologist), except that I only experience pain on the RIGHT side of my body.

It suddenly occurred to me - maybe the two are related? I've never thought to show the dirt to a doctor before. But does it make sense that all the pain would be on the OPPOSITE side of the dirt?
