I really didn’t want to comment on this topic, but here I go anyway…I believe the protesters - and certainly the protest organizers - didn’t expect to be allowed through. So, what was the point? Ah, there was one, of course. The idea is to get as many people killed as possible, which will result in a worldwide outrage and increase the money flow. Well, in that they were successful. Hugely so, I suppose.Do you remember that Gaza strip also borders Egypt? I wonder why the protests weren’t held there. My guess is because the world wouldn’t have cared if a few hundred protesters were killed by Egyptian border guards. That’s why.The protests were led by Hamas, which is a terrorist organization with a goal of wiping Israel off the map. No country would let a crowd with Al Qaeda operatives cross into its territory, but somehow Israel is treated differently.Picture this: thousands of people are trying to cross the border. Dear.. There is another side of the Palestinian-Isriealie conflict. It is the side of Palestinians, which is unfortunately not know to western ordinary people. Imagine that your native land is taken forcefully by immigrants. Too many innocent Palestinians were killed and their land and properties were confiscated. Whats happening know in Gaza is a continuation of the Palestinian struggle. Hamas are defending their remaining peace of land. Gaza was under seage for more than one year. People there are starving because Israel and its alias are not letting any thing crossing to Gaza. The story is long, I am sorry that people in the west are being told the wrong story! They should know the true story.. Whats happening know in Gaza is a massacre. They are being bombed from the air and attacked from the land. Until now there are more than 450 people dead and 30% of them are children and women!! What do you think of that??

This is absolute bullshit. Israel has not had peace since 1948 because the ARABS KEEP ATTACKING IT. You think Israel wants to always be in a state of war? Of course it doesn't, but there is no choice when you are constantly being attacked. 9 million, you say? Sources? That is a ridiculous figure and completely untrue. Whilst the UN says that the Arabs should have part of the land, the Arabs want all of the land and for Israel to not exist. That is why they don't have land (although there are 22 other Arab states). Israel did not 'take Arab lands' in 47 and 67. The land was not Arab to begin with, and in both wars, the Arabs attacked Israel, so the land was captured in DEFENSIVE war. Israel has had Jewish presence for thousands of years. It is historically Jewish and is the only homeland for Jews as an ethnicity, let alone as a religion. There would be no place for Jews if there was not Israel and Israel is religiously, culturally and ethnically significant to Jews, more so than any other people. I couldn't understand a single thing you wrote about Spain, but to claim that the Jews somehow betrayed the Arabs and that it was the Jews, the persecuted peoples, fault is just wrong and comes from those loony, anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. Israel has never attacked Lebanon, or any country for that matter. Both of those wars were started by Arabs attacking Israel. That is historical FACT. Israel has no need to start wars. to the person above me: it was in 1948, and the jews were already there. i hope you dont mind if i copy an answer ive used a couple of times on this exact question: (lots of people ask it) after world war 1, Israel (then called Palestine) was given to the British Mandate. In 1948 after World War 2, it was renamed Israel and was given as a Jewish homeland. Since then, Israel has been invaded numerous times by surrounding Arab countries (it shares a border with Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt), and each time it had pushed these countries back and victored. Israel is now at peace with Jordan and Egypt, kinda Lebanon but thats complicated I won't get into that. There is a group of Arab refugees that are called the Palestinians who live in two areas of Israel: The West Bank, and Gaza Strip. Since Israel's independence in 1948 they have claimed to be the rightful owners of the land, and hence have formed two terrorist organisations called Hamas and Fatah. Hamas controls Gaza, whilst Fatah controls the West Bank at the moment. The present conflict is taking place in Gaza against Hamas. Hamas has over the years been sending thousands of rockets (provided by Iran) into Israel, killing many and destroying a lot. Recently, a ceasefire was made between Israel and Hamas, however Hamas never kept the ceasefire properly and recently shot around 80 missiles into Israel. Fed up with the constant rockets, Israel is mounting a full military strike in Gaza in order to demobilise Hamas. The problem is that Hamas situates itself in public areas like schools, unviersities, parks, neighbourhoods, etc, and hence sometimes civilians are caught up in the fire. In order to avoid this, Israel SMS's and drops flyers in these areas in order to warn them to evacuate. Often they ignore these messages, or are forced to stay by Hamas. This leads to innocent casualties. Although no one likes to kill innocent people, there are no plausible alternative solutions for Israel in getting rid of the terrorists weho have plagues them for so long.

@thank you shay, In other words, in your opinion, the poster is incorrect in his claim that "Jordan threatened to walk out on the peace talks if Israel insisted that Jordan take the West Bank!" You know, I may be passionate about my beliefs, but I know a bit about the history here, and I've never heard this claim before. It would be pretty conceited of me to call this poster a liar however, and I learn new things everyday so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Any idea where this story came from- or do you think it's pure fabrication on the part of the poster?
