How should I name a piano piece I am writing?

Giving word names to music seems to be a modern trend, and it certainly would help people remember the piece more easily than just using numbers. But how do you pick a name? I guess it isn't much different from picking a title for a book or story or essay. I find choosing titles for writing difficult -- you want to capture the flavor or essence of the piece, or highlight an important symbol used in it, but you don't want to give too much away. Fashion veers between favoring 1-word titles and very long titles that are almost phrases, so a title can date the book.I have mixed feelings about using such titles for music. They can seem too restrictive -- the composer telling you what the piece is supposed to be about, whereas music is usually wordless, and so its meaning is very much open to interpretation by the listener. I do like tags that name the music after the place where it was composed, or name the piece after some identifying characteristic ("Blue Waltz"). But unless you specifically tried to imitate whales in the piece, I wouldn't go for a title like "Song of the Whale."  I don't know, maybe I'm just being stodgy, but poetic titles like "Prisms" and "Rainbows" kind of leave me cold.

What is the name of the electro house song from the Red Circle club scene in John Wick?

The Red Circle club scene is a combination of four tracks. The first track is reminiscent of the drowning scene in Casino Royale, where Wick finishes a goon off by drowning him. The music is suitably titled "The Drowning" by  Le Castle Varna and it is 2:25 long: The transition scene involves Wick moving inside and outside from the club to the pool area and a chill-out track plays in the background. The juxtaposition of Wicks violence and the sweet female vocal in the track titled "Think" by Kaleida Which is a light bass-driven techno with a pretty female vocal. The track runs for 3:59:The next track in the ultra-violent nightclub scene is a filler track which builds tension before the full-on shootout of the main club. It is called "LED Spirals" by Le Castle Varna and it runs for just under a minute, or 58 seconds to be precise, It is the perfect build-up track to what is to be the final bloody conclusion of the nightclub scene:The main Techno track during the nightclub fight scene is by Le Castle Vania again and for the next three minutes and 12 seconds, all bets are off. Anything goes. The song is called "Shots Fired" and believe me I gave up trying to count them:When all the parts make up the whole, you get a ballet of violence quite incomparable with anything else of its time. The Red Circle Club scene mixes these four pieces of music to beautifully choreographed martial arts and gun-work which is completed in the least number of cuts possible. The violence is earthy, streetwise and even though the motivation of the main protagonist doesn't quite justify the bloodshed that follows, John Wick does work on so many levels. If you want to cut to the chase, forget the music above and sit-back and enjoy Keanu at his very best. The Castle Vania - The Red Circle (John Wick)Enjoy!

What was the song that played during a Mercedes commercial a few years ago?

A few years back, somewhere between 2002 and 2006, there was a commercial for some Mercedes vehicle (I believe it was the M-Class, but i'm not sure) that had an awesome classical song playing in the background. While the song was playing, the commercial showed vehicles being tested for agility, handling, steering, etc. while almost dancing to the song.

The song wasn't one of those famous classical pieces that you'd recognize from movies or what have you. I've never heard it before. It sounded like that cello band that plays with Metalica, I think they're called Apocalyptica.

What song has the same beat/instrumental as "my mind playing tricks on me" by geto boys ?

You're thinking of "back in the day" by Ahmad, it says "And everybody say: I remember way back when" a few times. It sounds kind of like that song..it's real close actually. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0WMSovOboY and

Someone.. there are no worries for someone.. | ?

Hey guys, hows it going?

Are there any songs you like just because of the background vocals? I usually don't pay much attention to them, but I was listening to 'Someone' today, and even if they'd cut out the main ones and just left the background vocals, the song would still sound pretty great.

MQ: Anybody seen ACDC this year, were they good?
MQ2: A song with only one word as the title, but not a name.
MQ3: Your favourite song right now
