Has the synth sound in Waiting For a Girl Like You by Foreigner been sampled (and is it available)?
First, there are a few different synth sounds in that song. The main keyboard chords you hear through the majority of the song is from a Yamaha CP-80 (an electric piano). You can find this sound sampled on most Yamaha keyboards made these days. But you're probably talking about the synth string sound. I don't know which synthesizer in particular was used, but I can tell you it was an analog synth. Given the year the song came out ('81) my guess is something like a Prophet 5, but it could also be a string machine like the ARP Solina. Either way, this is a sound that can easily be imitated. Like the CP-80, similar sounds can be found on many home keyboards. Or you can get the sound on most analog or VA synths, as well as on software synths. Basically, such a sound is so easily synthesized, that you don't need an actual sample to get the same result. Trivia - the synth part was played by (then-unknown) Thomas Dolby.
What's a good song to sing for my sister's 18th birthday?
I want to sing in my sister's 18th birthday, but I don't know what to sing to her. Do you have any ideas? Oh yeah, this is the first time I will be singing in front of 300 people! I would prefer singing something that doesn't have a high pitch, because I am certainly not a great singer, just trying to be.. lol! I want it to be a surprise for her, and something that can make her cry. So, any songs that comes to mind?^^ Additional question: Also, my cousins and I are planning to surprise her with a dance number, and this would also be my first time to dance with so many people! I can't think of one, so any suggestions for that too?^^ Thanks for answering!
