Straight forward .Since your first meeting with her (let it be friendship/ relationship ) Her family knows you. You have no way to escape.Meeting with her parents wont be a big deal. You don't mention what sort of apocalypse, so I can't have any real idea of what is scarce. In the road warrior, it was gasoline. In The Drought, it was water. In A Boy and His Dog, it was canned goods. Liquor, pot, pussy, and antibiotics are popular choices. Salt, food, weapons, vitamins, or bubble wrap would be valid. It's about what your apocalypse has made scarce. 2. Most post apocalypse fiction consists of people in the near future, their names are our names. If not the near future, then you need to decide what the major influences of their lives are. I've read one book where Charles Manson is revered, so many people have Manson family names. In another the only book to survive was the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Others invent religions. Still others use everyone's job title as a name. You're the one who just destroyed the old world, you have to create a new one too. You don't just pick names out of a hat and pretend they're from the future. 3. Place names. Flip open an atlas, use real places.
