Sound Works Fine On Windows But No Sound On Videos

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and the audio is not working on my laptop. How can I fix that? Do I need to install audio drivers again?

Microsoft's newest operating system, Windows 10, has brought its own share of inherent bugs, installation problems and post-update issues including the annoying "No sound on Windows 10" issue.I have found a way to fix this problem, which is attributed to a flaw in the Windows 10 sound settings. It is confirmed that the lack of sound persists even after installing the correct audio drivers from the OEM or sound card manufacturer. Here is how to fix the "No Sound" issue on Windows 10:Problem with an Audio after windows 10 upgrade? Why is the sound not working on my HP laptop?

There might be two reasons for that and they are:Your Audio Drive needs update. To update your audio Driver, go to Desktop, search for “My PC, This PC or My Computer”. Then, right click on it and select “Manage”. Then choose “Device Manager”>“Audio inputs and outpts”Click on it and update the driver. For this, you should have an internet connection.2. 2nd Possible Reason is that, you need to troubleshoot the Audio Settings on your HP laptop. You can check what is happening in it. For this, on the bottom right corner, you can see an audio speaker. Right click on it and do “Troubleshoot”.If there is no any problem with the audio driver, then, you need to change the new Speakers on your HP Laptop.

Google Chrome Sound not working?

I have had the same problem. This was my fix.

I'm using windows 7, but should also work in Vista or XP.
Go to: Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound/Communications Tab/The setting says "When windows detects communications activity". I was messing with settings here. I set it from "Reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%",to "Do nothing". This is what killed the sound in all online embedded audio.

For some reason this only affected Google Chrome, and not IE or Firefox.

Windows Movie Maker no audio?

Anytime you can't see or can't hear a video, it's a compatibility problem. Movie Maker is allergic to either the video codec and/or the audio codec.

Everything you have on your computer that shows video or plays audio comes with codecs and sometimes too many codecs to choose from messes up Movie Maker. The first thing you should do is find the list of codecs used by the program. These are in Tools>Options>Compatibility tab in XP and Vista versions. Here's an "Options" I found in a screenshot of Windows Live Movie Maker.

Once you find the list of codecs (called "Filters" in Movie Maker), UNcheck all those with a checkmark next to them. This will leave only the original codecs for Movie Maker to use.

Another cause for this problem is that the file formats we're used to seeing are like Christmas stockings that are filled by Santa. They are just containers that can be holding all kinds of different formatting and compression codecs. So one AVI will play great and another AVI will play the sound but not the video.

The easiest thing for you to do is to convert the video to either WMV or AVI (H.264) format. Audio can be WMA, WAV, PCM, etc.

Problem with .avi file, no sound in WinAmp or Win Media Player?

I downloaded a video and opened it with WinAmp. The video itself plays great, no skipping, great quality - but there's no sound whatsoever. I tried opening the same file with Windows Media Player. Same deal. Great picture but no sound. I opened a different .avi video and it works fine with great picture and sound.
Any ideas on how to get the sound back?
