Why are my 6x9 speakers not working right?

I have 2 5-way 6x9 speakers in my car hooked up to a amp. Only the cone of the speakers are working. So I hooked it up to the stock wires in the car and only the top half works and not the cone. What do I do?

Why aren't my 6x9 speakers not working?

I have installed a new head unit in my ute and two amp powering two subwoofers. I wired up the front two speakers using the current wires from the car but i have wired up my 6x9's with new speaker cable i have run under the carpet to the back of the cabin and i have plugged them in but there not working. I have swapped wires around incase the + and - were around the wrong way but still nothing. PLEASE help!

2003 Pontiac Vibe speakers not working?

I believe my girlfriend's car is a 2003 Pontiac Vibe. She told me that the guy that had it before her said the speakers never worked right even when it was new, except for the driver's side door. Also the passanger front door works very slightly sometimes you can hear a little coming from it. NO sound comes from the rear doors.

Somebody did a crappy job of installing an aftermarket cd player recently so I bought a new one (yes i bought the $10 wire plug to match the vehicle make so all the wires match up for color perfectly) and got the proper car make mount so it actually fits in there right but when I plugged it all in, NO SOUND. The radio worked fine and came on perfect power was going to it and it seemed good but no sound from radio or aux or cd just blank...

Not knowing what to do and not wanting to leave it all pulled apart i unplugged the new radio and plugged the old one back in and again just getting sound through the drivers front speaker and a little through the passenger front.

Any advice leading to forums where this topic may be discussed in more detail would be greatly appreciated.

My car stereo speakers stopped working?

I doubt if the speaker is blown, it's more common for the wires to break where they cross to the doors from the front of the car, because they have to flex every time you open & close the car door & so usually happens with the driver door speaker first.
You need to get another speaker just to test, & connect wires to it. Then turn your stereo on at low volume and put the other end of the wires to the non-working speaker terminals, it doesn't matter which way round and any second speaker will do. The speaker may unscrew staight out of the door trim, or you may need to remove the trim, this can be tricky. There are 2 outcomes
1. No sound from 2nd speaker, this means break in wire or faulty amp.
2. 1st speaker doesn't work, 2nd one does, in which case 1st speaker was blown & I am mistaken.
It definitely isn't a fuse, then the whole stereo would be dead.
If your car may die soon, the "easy" fix is
A. New wires from amp around inside of car, (drill holes in trim or pass wires between trim & door)
B. Cut wires short of door, move speaker & reconnect under dashboard until car dies.
either of these may require lifting of door trim, if so the question is, do YOU think it's worth it ?

Only one speaker in my car works?

Only one speaker in my 1992 Honda Accord is working. Prior into installing my new aftermarket stereo (other one was stolen), I noticed both rear, and drivers side speakers weren’t working. I wondered if after I connected my amps and AC wires if it would help the issue, but I’m not sure. The speakers were working prior to the theft, and I replaced and got two new harnesses, and triple checked the connections, but I don’t see where I messed up. If anyone has any ideas to help that’d be appreciated.

My 04 Maxima speakers are not working however the radio will power on fine?

Any short circuit will cause all the speakers to stop working. The rear speakers are covered with trunk liner better check the rear speakers. Because BOSE is special to that car Have Nissan exchange the Stereo head with a re manufactured unit. You cannot purchase just any radio. Adapters will be needed with out replacing the entire system. A couple things kids putting coins into the radio and on some cars coins getting into the A/C auto amp. There is a service bulletin on the coins placed near the display.

My right speaker in my car works only sometimes?

One of two things are happening.

One the wires connected to the speaker are loose either at the speaker or the deck. (FIX) pull the speaker first and check the connection. If it is secure then the problem is at the deck. Pull the deck and check the connection there.

Second the wire from the deck to the speaker has experienced wear to the point of break down. It could be minor damage that is just causing intermittent shorts that causes the speaker to short or interrupt the signal. (FIX) pull the deck and run a new wire to the speaker.

Easy to do on your own and almost FREE but a stereo shop will charge you around $60 per hour + parts. More times then not they will also recommend replacing the factory speaker for another 30-100 bucks.
