As cultural secretary i will work hard for all students from all races and social backgrounds. I will help to solve all issues and help make the community better and more suitable for all cultures. I want us to learn and embrace what makes our individual cultures so significant and i want to try to make those ideas and cultural traits work to help benefit us all and make our community and school better and more cohesive when it comes to solving our problems and other pressing issues.

It is a fact of life that to run for office you have to get use to self-promoting.Many of us are taught early in life that we shouldn’t talk about ourselves because it is bragging and nobody likes a braggart! Walt Whitman, American Cowboy Poet said “that if you’ve done it, it ain’t bragging!”It is more important to speak from your heart than it is to have a structurally perfect election speech. Tell them why you want the position, hopefully for more than fame and fortune. Tell them what you are prepared to do for them. I wouldn’t discuss your background, your skills or different roles that you have had in the past. That can all be written on paper or electronically on your campaign promotional material. What is important is sharing your vision of the future for the organization, getting them to buy into it and then asking them to vote for you so that you can take them on the journey.Don’t forget to end your presentation for asking for their vote!

Good afternoon. My name is [my name], and I am running for the Secretary of the Class of 2011. I tried writing this speech so many times. Trust me, it is much harder than it looks. Each candidate was given a sheet with questions on what to cover in our speech. If I came up here and just answered each question, half of you would be asleep and the other half would probably not vote for me. People might view secretary as different from treasurer, president, or vice-president, but I see them all as the same thing; roles that require leadership and responsibility. Here’s some stuff that you might not know and it might change your mind. I am deeply involved in three clubs at our school; I am the president next year for one of them, as well as potentially and probably holding a leadership position next year for the other two. I volunteer at [a specific hospital] every week and carry out my duties without any complaints. I am enrolled in all honors courses at our school and receive good grades from all of them.
