Speeding Ticket In Il

How do you get a speeding ticket dismissed?

First, don't be an ass to the officer writing you the speeding ticket.  The more boring and compliant you are, the more likely it is that the officer will not see you as a threat and therefore may forget about you entirely when it comes time to go to court and fight the ticket.  If you tip your hand and rant and rave about how he's going to lose his badge and he's getting sued and you're going to court over this, well, obviously he or she is likely to be a lot more prepared when it comes time to go to court.  Instead, politely ask the officer if he would give you a warning this time, since you never break any traffic laws and you are thankful that he's there keeping the neighborhood secure.Second, its a speeding ticket, so creating doubt should be pretty easy.  How can he prove that it was specifically your car that was speeding?  Do you have any witnesses?  Does he have any witnesses?  Adamantly declare that you were not in fact speeding and he must have the wrong car, since there were so many going by at the time.  In fact, there were cars passing you and you were doing the speed limit.Third, acquire the work schedules of the police working traffic and schedule your trial for a time when the officer will be working or otherwise indesposed.  This is how so-called ticket clinics work.  Might not be a bad idea to hire one of these yahoos if you don't think you can pull it off.  Bottom line is, go to court and contest the ticket but make sure the officer will not show up to court, and the case will be dismissed.Fourth, if possible negotiate with the prosecution.  Ask for a plea deal or to attend traffic school to have the case dismissed.  You may be able to avoid getting points on your license but still have to pay the fine.  Points are bad, fines are not as bad.

I got a speeding ticket (90mph on 65mph road) in Atlanta and I have an Illinois driving license. What should I do?

Here’s the simplest response to this situation, pay the ticket. If you don’t, you could fight it, as one person pointed out, however, that is more expensive than it would seem. And yes, this qualifies as a Super Speeder ticket. My son got one of these a few years back, and with all of the crap that went with it, his license got suspended. He got probation, which he paid, he got a fine and an SS fine, insurance went up, and, although he’s paid all of his fines and gotten clearance letters from the court that he had to deal with, when checking the Georgia DSS site, he still shows as suspended. This is keeping him from getting a license in Texas, where we now live. A real bummer because I have to drive him wherever he needs to go, and, it keeps him from getting a lot of jobs since they require a driver’s license.

What happens in IL if you are late sending in a speeding ticket?

You can be arrested, your license can be suspended, and they can add additional warrant fees to the amount owed.

The chances of a warrant coming out that fast is unlikely, you can probably still take care of it on Monday.

If a warrant is issued, and you don't have the money on you at the time of arrest, they can hold you in jail. They usually credit you about $25 for each day served, so plan on 4 days for every $100 you owe.

When paying a speeding ticket, who do I make the check out to (in Illinois)?

I recently received my first speeding ticket. I admit that I was speeding and am willing to pay the fine, but the process is confusing me. On the back of the ticket there are detailed instructions on how to mail in the form and payment, but while it says a check is acceptable it does not say who to make it out to. I would call the courthouse, but I don't live in the county where I was pulled over and there is no phone number anyplace on the ticket.

Got Speeding ticket in Ohio but I am from Illinois. Am eligible for traffic school course?

I called Ohio Clerk office and they told me I was driving on 80 MPH and limit is 65 MPH on highway so this ticket will add 2 points on driving license. They said they will report on my Illinois driving license after I pay penalty. I asked them whether I am eligible for requesting driving school class, they said they can not tell, I will need to appear in court and request to prosecutor.

I got a speeding ticket in IL, but the officer kept my license. Why is that?

I recently moved to Lake County in IL and was pulled over for a speeding ticket yesterday. I was registered as doing 43 in a 30. This is my first violation in this state, but I'm confused on the laws. I thought the officer put my license in the envelope that had my registration, but after he had left I realized that it was not there. I'm not sure if it's being held for bond or if he just forgot to give it back, but I know it is illegal to drive without a license.

Going 13 mph over would give my license 15 points, making it eligible for a 2 month suspension, but would that be immediate? Especially since it is only my 1st offense?

First speeding ticket in chicago illinois, what should I do?

I recently got my first speeding ticket, I have court coming up and I got a letter from my old insurance lawyer telling me something about class B misdemeanor, that he can be my lawyer, that hes helped many people with the speeding tickets. Now this is my first speeding ticket, I was on I290 going 92 on a 55mph. The ticket says "SPEEDING OVER STATUTORY LIMIT 31-39". Like I said before, this is my first speeding ticket and I was late to a job. What is the ticket going to look like, am I going to be looking at some jail time? because that's what it says on the lawyer letter, $1,500 fine and up to 2 years. What do you recommend me doing?

Why do Michigan Speeding Tickets Show Up on my Illinois Driving Record?

I recently got an advisory letter from the Illinois SOS about two recent speeding tickets on my license. I received both tickets in Michigan but live in Illinois. I read that there is an agreement between most states called the Interstate Driver License Compact where they will share information regarding certain types of traffic convictions, and reports on traffic violations and suspensions are forwarded to the home state of the nonresident. However I also read that that Michigan does not participate in this agreement. So how/why did my Michigan tickets end up on my driving record if there is no exchange of information between Michigan and Illinois?

In the United States, can a state trooper give you a speeding ticket within a city's limits?

In the United States, can a state trooper give you a speeding ticket within a city's limits?Every state trooper in the US has the authority to ticket speeders anywhere within that state. Every Sheriff’s deputy has the authority to ticket speeders anywhere within that county. Every municipal police officer can ticket speeders within the boundaries of their municipality. In pursuit means that if you cross a boundary line with the officer in pursuit, the officer can follow and ticket you. There are rules they have to follow, but the ticket will be valid. They can also pursue you onto private property, so running car into your garage and then trying to get into your house when you are being pursued by an officer intent on ticketing you is not a good decision. In some rural areas, you may find that a town doesn’t have its own constable or police officer. The county sheriff and/or state patrol take turns running through the town.Generally, state troopers will patrol US and interstate highways, Sheriff’s deputies will patrol state and county highways and roadways and city officers will patrol city streets. But, if the interstate runs through the city, the city officer has every authority to patrol and ticket on that piece of interstate. A highway patrol officer can give a ticket in a residential neighborhood.
