Starting My Own Business

How to start my own business?

First get your business plan created. It's very important to know exactly how you will perform business (especially if you are going for a loan or investors) Grab a copy of Business Plan Pro 11 or similar and look through their templates, they will have a template plan that is similar to what you want to do. It will guide you through each section, and by the time your done, you'll know exactly what you're doing.

Next make sure to file with the state: Go online and get their business start-up form, fill it out and file it at the state building. It'll cost about $300. This will enable you to start business accounts at the bank (when your business license arrives a.k.a your "Articles")

Now you will want to look for a loan from the bank or an investment group. The better your plan looks the better your chances of getting the money you need!

Why do you want to start your own business?

There are a number of reasons why one would want to start their own business. However, to me, it has been fairly clear from the start. Here are my motivations, which I've retained for several years now, since I began:Self motivation: I'm of a self motivated character. I find motivation from my own tasks, not those prescribed to me by others. This leads me onto my next point;Freedom: When running your own business, it can be focussed on the niche that suits you! You don't need to sell someone else's company (and hence the personality they have built to support their company), but a company that depicts you as an individual. This is much easier, and actually helps to create motivation, as you are selling something that is yours, which you believe in!Pay: It goes without saying that being at the top of any business pays more than lower positions. That doesn't mean you'll make a living from the first week! In fact, in most cases it takes around 18 months. However, it does offer a degree of financial security (no risk of being fired), and a pay that you can adjudicate at times (definitely not at the start!). That said, owning a business can be stressful, and the business itself can be volatile (i.e. very susceptible to frequent change).Leading: Some people love to lead, and dread responding to another party. This ties in with freedom in some respects, however, it stretches beyond that. I personally love to lead others. Creating direction, and guiding/teaching others is preferred and comes more natural to me. As a result, I prefer to do this, which is characteristic of having your own business. There are various, less important reasons. However, there are my primary factors, which keep me from ever second guessing my decision to run my own business. All the best!

Should I start my own business after college?

I want to answer this question with 3 different assumptions.Assumption 1: If you are going to a business school. If you are in a business school I would start the business, seriously, while you are in school. Obviously, this would be ideal. I went to a business school and a lot of my classmates started their business while in school and then continued it after they graduated.Assumption 2: You already have experience in the field you want to start your business. So if you have the experience I would take that risk. Write your business plan and get going.Assumption 3: No experience. If you don’t have any experience in the industry you want to start your business I would work in that industry for a while, get some experience, see if you like it, and then start your own business.I hope this helps. Just starting a business without any experience isn’t ideal although you can still do it just hire experienced personnel. And whatever you decide to do, whether to start your own business right after college or after a few years of working, remember to have a business plan. It’ll help in so many ways including financial or getting into incubator or accelerator programs. And It will help you have a better understanding of your industry, market, and where you currently are and where you would like to be.For some freebies on that can help you on this journey click on the link, Kasia Olivares | Business Planning Guide

I would like to start my own flower shop business?

Ok, great idea but here are your hurdles honey.

To get the loan, one you must either have an educational background that says you have the potential to do this, VERY pertinent and extended experience in the field and a superb credit history with a FICO score of over 700.

To make it in the biz and not have to worry about making the loan payments and going into bankruptcy, you must find a place that is either devoid of such a service or offer a product that hardly anyone else, if no one at ALL, can offer.
There is a flower shop on every corner...what would make your's special? That is what will be asked of you ok? Simply supplying the area with fresh long-stemmed roses and lilacs and Valentine's Day arrangenments will NOT be enough to persuade a bank to loan you $100K or more to get started.
You need to be able to make floral arrangements no one has EVER seen. What you need to get going is money and experience and know how. If all you want to do is make pretty floral arrangements, honey anyone can do that. You need to offer something that is rare, hard to find...singing telegrams...hokey, but when was the last time you ever head one being delivered? Something, if you REALLY want to make it...you can't be a blend in. You won't make it and a bank won't give you the loan. If you can do something spectacular, bring it with you to the loan interview...that way you can be like "see?!"...wow them.
