Starting To See Fleas On My Hardwood Floor Help

How toget rid of fleas with hard wood floors I've tried everything but burn down my house I've cleaned bathed?

IF you have a dog or cat, all you need is treatment of Frontline or TopSpot from the vet. These medications kill ALL the fleas in the house, and any eggs that hatch. I have never done a thing for fleas in my house, and my dog gets them every year.

If you doubt this, ask your vet. I did. Saved myself a WHOLE lot of money I was wasting on all the other useless stuff

Flea infestation!? please help!!?

For about 2 months now we've been battling fleas in my apartment. I have 2 kittens and a dog. We've sprayed the apartment with stuff from the pet store, treated all the animals, given them flea baths, flea comb them daily, rented a rug doctor for the carpets and even tried diatomaceous earth. But the fleas are getting worse. Tonight we found 10 fleas on each kitten and 7 on the dog. I don't know what else to do. my apartment complex is not the nicest but in the area is pretty nice. I'm starting to feel itchy but that could just be me being paranoid. I need any and all suggestions on how to get rid of them for good. I'm going to talk to my landlord tomorrow about it but the chances she'll actually be in her office are slim. Please please help!

Where can I sell hardwood flooring online?

No judging, but provided the hardwood flooring is legitimately owned there are a couple of options.Craigslist— Many have used this site to sell a variety of items. As far as I know, listing here is free.EBay— This site is used worldwide. Usually there are no charges unless your item sells. The fees are fairly reasonable. Granted, there are shipping costs to consider. However, if you chose to allow local pick up only, then you could avoid shipping charges.Hope this helps you.

HELP my shih tzu has fleas!!?

Help Me! My shih tzu has been fighting fleas for months! i have tried everything we started off natural by using powdered Diatomacaceous earth that didn't work so we went chemical, we have tried hartz monthly flea medicine and a bunch of different sprays and creams from petsmart for her and her bedding, we have even gone as far as ordering 10% permethrin. I shaved her short and give her flea baths about every other week. We dont have any carpet in our house not even the bedrooms and no rugs. I dont think its in the furniture because Ive never had any jump on me or bite me while sitting on the couch or my bed. I dont know what to try any more and im not exactly in a position to take her to the vets to pay for a bunch of flea meds. I need something though she is always scratching and biting herself, she makes her self bleed and she still bites and shes starting to get angry she keeps growling when she bites and scraches, she hasnt been angry with me or shown any sign of anger before except when shes biting or scratching herself. At this point i will try just about anything and if the vets the only thing left to try ill do it, i love my dog and it breaks my heart to watch her mutilate herself over little pesky bugs.

Please, Please Help...I keep treating my cats for fleas, but they keep coming back. How can I get rid of them?

Tons of people are having problems with Frontline. I stopped using it about a year ago because I found it ineffective. However, bear in mind Frontline, Advantage -- any of them ARE monthly treatments and are to be reapplied every month, or 30 days, whichever comes first.

Try switching to Advantage -- that has worked well for me. You can get Advantage in bulk on eBay in the 55 lb. dog size. It is the exact same ingredients for dogs and cats and simply dosed by weight. It costs $18 for 5 doses for a 9+ pound cat -- saves me a bundle!

You can also get Capstar from your vet, as that is supposed to be good.

Flea eggs drop off the cat, they hatch, they reinfest. You need to get something that stops the life-cycle, and Advantage does that. You also need to spend a lot of time vacuuming or you will continue to have bad reinfestations.

Good luck.

How can orange oil kill fleas?

The claim is it desiccates them, it more or less worked for me the one time I tried it, but it certainly does dry out the pets skin. I’ve tried orange oil on an elderly teacup poodle with severe fleas before. She was deathly allergic to every flea collar or powder we tried. This was before the advent of the new flea drops, but I’m going to guess those drops would have killed her. She was that sensitive. The orange oil worked to get rid of the fleas on her at that moment. I combed the poor baby out after and she was flea free. However, and this is a big one. Our house with hardwood floors still had fleas, eggs and larva, probably in stray area rugs, furniture, and under baseboards as within 3 days she was flea bitten again. She smelled great for a few days, I will say that, with her advanced age and bad skin she was a stinky dog and orange oil is also a great deodorizer. But I’d say the drying effect that kills the fleas also drys the dogs skin pretty bad as well. I had to dose her with lotions after every orange oil baths. It took us months to clear all fleas out of the house even with hardwood floor. By then the poor poodle had come to hate orange oil’s smell with a passion. I would never do it again if there were ANY possible alternative. Just too hard on both me and the dog.I’d strongly recommend you talk to a vet about other methods to remove the fleas from your house as well as the dog at the same time. In my local area there’s a group of vets that have a Facebook page where you can ask a question but not comment. The vets themselves only do the answering. I would guess there are other sites like that out there where you can find vets willing to talk about problems like flea control.

I am depressed because of this flea infestation?

Yes. An exterminator will get rid of the fleas. If you have a job, you can afford it. You'll go stay at a friend or family's house for a night and your kitty will go and spend the night at the vets and get a flea dip and proper treatment. After that, when you have a clean house take care of your cat or cats properly and put FRONTLINE on them as directed by your vet in flea season: March-October. It's not normal to neglect a flea situation so long that they've overrun your home.

Does putting a dog in water with fleas on its body drown the fleas?

Some will drown, many will simply jump off, go skimming across the water & jump away. What most people do not know, & something which these unconscionable producers of flea control products never tell you is that fleas do not “live” full time on the dog, that a vital part of the life cycle for the flea is the ground, where it “becomes” an adult flea..The dog is merely a conduit, a source of food for the female flea, but they will happily take up residence for as long as they live, laying eggs constantly. I am of the opinion that most dogs do not need flea treatments, & if you sprinkle some Diatomaceous earth into dark areas, under cupboards & fine cracks you will never have another flea, it is not toxic, but the fine powder irritates the young flea, & it dies, you can read more info here Use Diatomaceous Earth to Kill Fleas in 3 Easy StepsYears ago I had two large dogs, a fine haired female huge Presa Canario & a male Rotti Cross with fine silky long hair, he never had fleas, she battled them constantly, & we tried everything, we wiped them out thanks to Diatomaceous earth, & have never had another in our home, this has saved me countless $100s in flea control products, many of which are toxic for dogs.A few things you need to know about ridding your dog of fleas. All female fleas are born, as such, already pregnant, they need the dog´s blood to kick start the egg growing process. The fleas lay the eggs on the dogs hair, right down near the root, when the larvae hatch they drop to the floor, I repeat, they DO NOT then start feasting on the poor dog.The larvae drop to the floor, wriggle away into some dark crack in the floor, into a rug, under a skirting board & start munching on dust & anything they find. After a period the grubs glues themselves to (say) the underside of a tile & turn into a minute chrysalis,, hoovering & brushing the floor is as good as useless at removing them. The shiny new flea hatches, this flea is NOT hungry, it has all the patience in the world, & it can wait months before it finds a new host. They sit quietly & wait, have sensors which let them know when someone or a dog is passing, then zoom into action & hitch a ride until they find a dog.You need to treat the ground, do this & you will never be bothered by fleas again, if ever your dog picks up a flea you can simply comb it off & drop it into a glass of soapy water
