Truck wont start... makes machine gun type sound but wont turn over.?
Hey! I have a truck I am keeping for a guy in my husbands unit while him and my husband are in Iraq. Well I am supposed to start it and let it run for him like once a week but the children and I went to NC for 2 weeks so it hasnt been started in like 3 weeks. I went to start it last night and it makes a machine gun type noise, doesnt turn over. And when I let the key go, the gauges go all the way up, then go back down. The lights are all on. And I tried charging it with a black and decker battery charger, for like 20 minutes, the truck still wont start. Even with the battery charger on it. I checked the battery voltage and it says 10.6 And I pressed the alternator check button the battery charger and the fault light comes on, red. Anyone know anything that can help me? Is it just a dead battery and the charger isnt giving it enough juice? Thanks so much!!!

Thats probably your battery, the sound you are hearing is your starting motor, trying to start, but it doesnt get enough electricity to start. Even if you do have electricity, you probably dont have enough to actually start the car. Get someone to give you a jump start (with jump leads) If it starts straight away, the battery was the problem. When it starts, drive it for at least 15 minutes, to give the battery a chance to charge again. If it charges fine, you should be able to start the car again after that. If it wont start again, the battery is not getting charged and you will probably need a new battery.
Hot water faucet on sink causes "machine gun like noise" when turned on.?
This is called "water hammer". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_hamme... Don't be alarmed by the extreme examples in the link. Likely, all you have is air building up in your hot water. As it exits the faucet, the water directly behind it slams into the insides of the pipe.....making the noise. Kinda like water line flatulence. Likely, the line from your valve to the faucet is now smaller and is backing up the hot water. Have you recently increased the temperature on your water heater? That may cause the hammering too. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself and you had someone install your new faucet, this is something that the person can return and address easily. Good luck.

Most likely it is the washer on the tap that is loose. They can make a horrendous noise as it gets worse. Shut the water off under the sink and open the tap to drain. Remove the handle and then remove the large nut holding the tap stem in place. Once it is loose the tap stem and turn over exposing a black washer with a small screw threw it. Remove the screw and take off the washer. Go to your hardware store like Home depot or Lowe's and buy a new one Also buy one for the other tap as its not far behind. Replace the washer and put back together just like you took it apart. Hope this helps you and good luck. Richard
Can someone tell me why my car makes 'machine gun-like noise?
We own an Amana and I think that is now the same company. We had an extended warranty and a repairman came out to look at it when it wouldnt freeze as well. The fridge was also warming up. It had popped on and off since the day we bought it years earlier. The temp in the freezer and fridge were now up to about 20 degrees above where they should be. The repairman was stumped but called a buddy and he said it was pretty common and it was a fan motor I believe that circulates cold air from the freezer and into the fridge. When it went out the whole thing froze up and nothing was as cold as it should have been. He ordered the part and fixed it and that was a year ago. Lately its started popping again but is still cold. Hope it helps. Try googling amana or frigidaire popping sound or failure to freeze PS check the temp in your fridge. You don't want to be eating food from it if it's over 45 at the most. Easy to check it is buy a stem thermometer, fill a cup of water and sink the stem in. Then put the stem in the fridge for a while. We kept it in there while we monitored the situation and waited for the part.
Why does my water faucet make a "knocking" sound when I turn it on?
There is air in the pipes,you need to remove a tap to release the air,or it possible that there is a small hole in a pipe sucking air in,check all pipes if the first option does not work.. Good luck.

So I just changed the PCV valve and my 1988 Ford Bronco was running great after taking it on a little test run. I then went to start it back up a couple hours later and it was just about to start and then suddenly it was as though everything electrical just died and now my car is dead. The headlights wont turn on and the only dim light i am receiving is my interior light. So i tried jumping it and when i did it sounded like a machine gun but would not start, but then once i removed the jumper cables, it went back to being completely dead and wont even sound like a machine gun anymore?????
