Sticky Lump Around Cartilage Piercing .

It's been almost a year and my cartilage piercing hasn't healed at all! Help please?

Sometimes cartilage piercings can take two years to heal, but that is unlikely unless you get it infected all the time, constantly are touching it, not cleaning it, stuff like that.

I wouldn't worry about it. Some people just take longer to heal then others. It usually does take a full year to fully heal on most people but a lot of people don't know how to tell when their piercing is healed so they decide to change it early. Most of the time you can change it before it's healed as long as you have had it for a while, but it just makes your ear flare up, get swollen, and maybe infected. So please, I know your tired of waiting, but wait until it's healed.

And STOP the rubbing alcohol!
That Might be why it's taking so long to heal.

Yesyesyes the sea salt soaks thing is actually what's best of all things for your piercing (In my opinion) I wouldn't use tea tree oil unless you have hypertrophic scarring (A bump/bubble that forms around your piercing) Or an infection. It shouldn't be used as a daily cleaner.

It might also be infected, but i think you would have added that icky puss is coming out. If Clear/White/Light Yellow puss is coming out, that's normal and a sign of healing. If smelly/gooey/thick/green/dark red/blood/brown/basically any dark colors are coming out, it's infected.
If it sounds infected, sea salt soaks can get rid of that too.

Whatever you do, don't bug it, treat it like it's new (even though it is far from new) Don't Change It, and stop cleaning with rubbing alcohol.

Outer ear hair growth near cartilage piercing?

i recently got my cartilage pierced, and after a long infection, hair started sprouting near the site of my cartilage piercing. i'm pretty sure the hair growth and new piercing associate with one another, for i've never had visible hairs on that ear before the piercing. also, on my other ear that does not contain a cartilage piercing has no visible hairs at all. i've tried researching about this problem, but can only find information regarding inner ear hair growth which has nothing to do with my case. please help!

Cartilage piercing white stuff?

By the sounds of it, is very normal. The skin cells on the inside of the hole have no where to go but out.. So its probably just the gunk that comes with a piercing. That's why you clean your piercing, to get rid of the stuff that comes out. Its normal..
Just keep cleaning your piercing twice a day.. The amount of the white stuff should be reduced after a few more weeks. Your piercing is still healing, even if it doesn't hurt anymore, the inside of it isn't all done yet.
Its common for cartilage piercings to get scar tissue stuff, and its like a bump that formed right next to the jewelry. Its common, and should be the same colour as your skin. If you notice it, don't worry. Ask your piercer what to use to get rid of it. I've never had it happen, but if I recall correctly, you can use tea tree oil and it will make it go away. But that won't happen for a little longer, if at all.
Just keep cleaning it and don't be worried unless your piercing is constantly oozing gross amounts of puss, and is swollen.

Cartilage Piercing Questions?

I just got my Cartilage pierced yesterday, and I am just worried about getting a possible infection. I clean it multiple times daily with the ear care solution you can buy at stores like Claires and have been wearing my hair up, except I won't be able to tomorrow for graduation.

So is there anything else I can do to prevent an infection if so what?

Also, how long does it generally take to heal? As in hurt to touch or bump. (so i know if it does get infected)

Oh and what things should I look for in trying to spot if it does become infected?

Thanks for all of your help.

How do I treat a bleeding cartilage piercing?

Bleeding cartledge piercings can be painful. I would recommend salt water to clean your piercing. Alot of these“cleaning aids” have never worked for me personally but I have very sensitive skin. Everyone heals differently and not everyone can wear the same kinds of jewlrey. I find myself repeating that alot because people don't do their homework and some figure they can just wear anything. Not true..do your homework. Your jewlrey can be the whole reason your piercing is bleeding, sore or just don't seem to want to heal. If its bleeding Alot, take out the jewelry and let it heal, Your piercer may have hit a vein. Its easier just to pierce it again at a later date. If it only seems crusty, with dry blood. Could mean you slept on it or hooked it somehow. Just keep it clean and it should be ok. A cartledge piercing can take up to a year to heal or longer if you have trouble with it. I hope this helps…Good luck.

Crust around helix piercing?

I got my first helix piercing about month ago. After about two weeks the pain was mostly gone. One month in,it started to hurt so i tried to loose it up a little bit,but i got it out accidentally. I put it back but since then there s some liquid coming out of it. It s whitish and really sticky. When it dries it forms a crust. When i picked one out it started to bleed. And it s been doing this for a few days now. Should i take it out completely or it will heal eventually?

Clear liquid coming out of cartilage piercing?

I got my cartilage piercing 4 weeks ago this Thursday. My piercer told me in 4 weeks (6 at most) I could come back and have her change it. Saving a trip back into town I decided to do it myself a few days ago.. it was okay the first couple days and then today it has been hurting. I went to check it to make sure there was nothing wrong with it, but what I found made me nervous. I looked at the back of the new earring and saw a clearish liquid oozing out. I decided to take the earring out and see what it was. I wiped my ear on a tissue and saw it was just a clearish liquid with a pinkish tint to it. I washed it off like the piercer told me to do when I first got it done and it seemed fine and was no longer sore. Is this a sign that it's getting infected? If so, what should I do?

Off white/yellow crust on new cartilage piercing?

I got both my lobes and my cartilage on one side pierced at a professional tattoo parlor by a piercer on August 26 (3 weeks ago), and have been cleaning all my piercings with H2Ocean and sea salt soaks 3x a day for the first two weeks and 2x a day more recently; I haven't been touching them unless for cleaning, like my piercer told me. My lobe piercings seem to be healing up fine. I have a hoop in my cartilage piercing. It's been fine too, occasionally briefly sore or itchy after I clean it but mostly I don't notice it and it only hurts when bumped. I sleep on my other side so as not to irritate it, but I think last night I might have turned onto my pierced side in my sleep. I've had no discharge of any kind until this morning, when I woke up and looked at my ear and saw some off-white/light yellow discharge around the earring hole at the back of my ear, and some around the inside hole. My ear is not red or swollen and does not hurt at all. The stuff was hard to get off with just a q-tip so I did a sea salt soak and then was able to swab it off. When I swabbed it off it was yellow and a little gooey looking. All things considered there was just a little bit though, not a lot of whatever the discharge is.

Is this normal? I've never had crusties on any of my piercings—is this what they are? Should I be worried about my cartilage piercing being infected?
