Freshman Stress: Work Overload? Help! College Questions?

1. You should do the work as it comes, and don't put it off until the last minute. If something's due in two weeks, just start working on it now so the work comes out better and you're not rushing yourself. Plus, you're giving yourself more time for other things that have closer due dates.
2. Try some new study habits. If the usual book reading doesn't help (depends on subject, if it's history, you don't really have much of an option but to read the book), you can try looking through your homework and working out exercises in subjects such as math. If it's an AP class, such as AP World, you can try buying an AP World test prep book (I like using the prep books from Kaplan because their easy to read and I always get 5's on the tests :D). Inside the book, they'll have a huge section reviewing the material for the test, which is the same stuff being taught in your AP class. Sometimes I find that the prep books explain better than the teachers do, so you should really give it a try.
3. White hairs are normal, just a sign of stress. For many Asians, it happens to be hereditary to have it at a young age...I got it from my mom, good thing it's only a few unnoticeable strands :P
4. Most semester graded schools don't show grades from the quarter. A-'s are still counted as A's when colleges calculate GPAs, so don't worry about it. For Ivy League, competition is really crazy, so try to keep straight A's.
5. Refer back to number 1, as long as you do the work as it comes, you should find some downtime.
6. Sports just show colleges another interest you have. There's no such thing as an advantage of EC's because all students are looked at the same way...only difference would be the amount of EC's being done. But as long as you show dedication and stay in the sport, you'll be just as competitive as someone who played piano for several years. Colleges prefer dedication over amount, meaning you'll look better to colleges if you stayed in your sport for all of high school, instead of that other person who went to ten different clubs but for a short period of time in each.

Just relax, in summary, it seems like you just need to get that B+ higher in honors bio, and you still have time to do that. You're only a freshman, so don't get overworked so early...you got a lot ahead of you, but many people have made it, and so can you :)

Does gardening help you to de-stress?

Most certainly! The fresh air, the exercise, the creativity, the time spent with garden gloves on—which prevent checking my phone—all contribute to a mentally and physically healthful experience.Fresh air: Now, in the fall, the air feels clearest to me. I rake the leaves and prune the blooms gone past.Exercise: I have a collection of traditional hand tools, spade, shovel, grading rake, trowel, half-moon edger. I wield them for a morning or afternoon and feel delightfully exhausted after hours of productive physical activity. While connecting with the earth, I gain strength and energy. After my chores are done, sitting on the front stoop never felt so good.Creativity: I had no garden experience until I took it up a few years ago after my husband died, leaving me an inheritance of hosta, daffodils, lilacs, viburnum, ferns, sedum, rhubarb, horseradish root, and a spearmint patch.Tending the beds he created in his many hours outdoors, I started to feel my own style emerging. I expanded them into more amorphous free form shapes, my signature design. I chose new plants—blue hydrangeas a favorite—and relocated others. I learned about various species of annuals and perennials and spent many hours exploring the nursery and carting home my bounty along with compost and mulch.I grew up as a combination urban / suburban girl. Now, on my acre in a more rural setting, and adjacent to a protected wetland, I am grateful that I have rediscovered the ongoing seasonal changes in the earth, air, and sky that the unfolding of the year brings. My garden shed.

I have a lot of stress and I'm depressed. I know that crying will relieve some of that, but I can't cry. What are some ways I can make myself cry?

There are a lot of ways by which you can remove your stress but it seems you are interested in removing it by crying. There was a time in my life when i wanted to do the same. Reason?? Oh let it go, I don't want to make you cry with my boring story. Now , let's come to your answer. Well dear, crying is an activity which requires a lot of mental attention and thinking as you have to recall all the memories that happened to you in the past.At first, find a place where you are alone, and nobody is there to look at you(as you will be distracted by anyone's presence and your reason for crying will not come into light completely). You can select places like a field, a vacant room, or the terrace.Secondly, be at the selected place of your choice and sit calmly. Remember all the incidents from the beginning, not from the one which made you to do this. Try to begin from there when you were happy and was no problem like this. This would help you in crying. Don't think anything from here, just cry; as loud as you can and let the tears come out.Thirdly, the most important part, 'When you are about to end up with your crying; start thinking from there about your future. Just think what steps should yoy take to make your future well and happy. Afterall, you have done this to get rid of sorrows and in search of happiness. If you don't do so, your mind is going to stuck somewhere again in your past and the want of crying will still be demanded sooner. But this time, even crying won't help you.
