Why do many Saudis move out of their country for higher education? How good or bad is the education in Saudi Arabia?
It is not about bad or good education in KSA but almost everyone in the world dream to study higher education other than his or her bachelor degree county. Furthermore, to have diversity of prospective towards the education worldwide and broaden the mind to gain worthwhile knowledge. Last but not least, it is essential to acquire to the learner to taste the alienation out of the family, friends, and same tongue language to learn and study efficiently.
Is pursuing MA (international relations) from JNU worth it?
Well,I did my master’s in International Relations from JNU after graduating in Political Science Hons. from DU.I really enjoyed all my classes especially Theory of International Relations (and believe me being a day scholar and travelling 80 Km per day gross ,I attended few classes on sundays too which I thought would never happen but this is the charm of professors who never fail to fascinate students with their treasure trove of knowledge).I had an access to various other courses that I found interesting in different schools and every semester had 100% course load against necessary and adviced 50% ,why if you may ask -because I wanted to know more.Every class had something different to offer from wide perspective about various issues to stories that was witnessed by our professors in the changing course of International Relations.It’s an enticing journey that will captivate your imagination and fire your zeal to learn .
How would basic income affect crime rates?
All poverty reduction program reduce crimes of economic need and provide an increase in the value of the outside option. Presuming that crimes originating from burglary theft and larceny are at their base an economic crime (though violence may also be committed in the act of the crime) are all essentially originating from the perpetrator evaluating their economic options and choosing the activity that maximizes their economic outcome, providing income in this case Universal basic income, makes the other criminal alternatives less economically attractive. Further as UBI is a more effective than other welfare programs at encouraging productive employment in combination with receiving UBI this would even further increase the incentive against crime.Additionally having reduced economic crimes, there would be a minor reduction in violent crimes. Fewer violent crimes be committed in the act of economic crimes. Further, as some violent crimes and crimes of passion are contributed to or more frequently committed when there is economic stress, the reduction in economic stress would also reduce other crimes as well.Finally I also like to think of poverty reduction programs and other social programs as social insurance. Although many mediterranean Arab countries may have had repressive governments, when the economic conditions were favorable the populace was not willing to risk revolt. However in the spring of 2011 economic stress contributed to a contagion of revolutions, the Arab Spring. It was the economic stress of rising unemployment and increasing food prices not any particular individual totalitarian or repressive acts that drove the region into revolution. It is always a good idea for the rich to buy off the poor. China is at low risk of a change of government precisely because economic progress and continually increasing standards of living are exactly that type of insurance. While the rest of the world experienced the Great Recession of 2008–2009 China’s economy grew rapidly through massive fiscal spending-investment in infrastructure projects. This massive economic stimulus was probably a more effective poverty reduction program than direct welfare handouts, as it bought employment, economic growth, and the externality benefits of infrastructure to the rest of the economy. Revolution insurance is poverty reduction, and in developed countries at risk of outsourcing labor to machines or developing countries UBI is the right program.
