Stubbed Infected Toenail Question

Infection in ingrown toenail?

Get a prostitute to suck your toe

Stubbed toe, Half toenail lifted ?

I hit my bit toe against my dresser & it lifted the toenail off the nail bed halfway. At first it was bleeding & it hurt a lot, but almost a week later, its gotten better, it doesn't really hurt anymore & doesn't appear infected or anything, although the top half is still lifted & detatched from the nail bed, so my question is if I clipp the top half off down to where its still attached to nail bed, will it reattach as the bottom half grows out or do I have to have the whole nail removed ?

Stubbed Big Toe / Toe Nail White?

I stubbed my big toe last night, while it hurt like hell up until this morning, now it has a numb feeling and my toe nail turned white. What is this? Should I contact the doctor?
Thanks

I stubbed my toe, and part of my toenail fell off!?

Don't worry too much about it. I lost my big-toe's toenail in a soccer game, twice. My whole toenail came off after a period of time. The nail will eventually grow back to normal. Basically, you can put some antiseptic and a band-aid on it and let it heal on its own.

Clindamycin for ingrown toenail infection?

When I was much younger, I picked my toenails down far, and they have never grown in correctly. I stubbed my toe (and it bled a little). There was a little piece of skin in between the toe and the skin right next to the toe (this is the big toe) toward the side outwards, and I picked it out. It was kind of under the toe, also. I thought it was a piece of skin from the stubbing. Ever since then, the toe has beome painful when i step down, and it is slighty red and bruised. Yesterday, pus came out, so I began putting neosporin on it. It hasn't had much pus today, but is still red.

I am going to Boston tomorrow, and will be away from my Primary care physician. I have an antibiotic that I have never used, and it is Clindamycin. In a pinch, if I think my toe is infected, will Clindamycin work for this type of a problem? It is in pill form.

Help! My toenail is lifting!?

I'm sorry to say that you cannot salvage the nail. Don't worry though- you won't have to live the rest of your life missing a toenail! ;-)

Once it falls off, I think it takes about 6-8 months to grow back. If you don't have diabetes and there's no sign of infection, then I don't see a need for medical attention. In order to prevent the new nail from being what some call a "fungus nail", you'll want to make sure to keep your toe clean and dry. For now, it's just wait, wait and - oh yeah - wait, which is what I'm doing now; I dropped a table on my toes a couple of months ago.

I hope this helps. :o)

P.S. Some signs of infection are:

Increased pain, swelling, redness, or warmth around the nail.
Red streaks extending from the nail.
Drainage of pus from the nail.
Swollen glands (lymph nodes) in the neck, armpit, or groin.
Fever.

Stubbed toe, nail turned yellow?

I was up camping, when i decided to kick a stone. I missed, and hit the cement. I tore skin on the front of my big toe, and it bled like crazy. 2 days later, my nail started to turn yellow. About 3 more days later i barely stubbed the same toe, and it started bleeding again.
What I'm really concerned about, is if my toenail is going to fall off.

How can you prevent getting an ingrown toenail if you've stubbed your big toe?

Soak your feet in warm water. Do this for 15 to 20 minutes three to four times a day. ...Place cotton or dental floss under your toenail. After each soaking, put fresh bits of cotton or waxed dental floss under the ingrown edge. ...Apply antibiotic cream. ...Choose sensible footwear. ...Take pain relievers. Now, there IS simple surgical help for this if ingrown toenails are a constant problem. A podiatrist can, remove the few extra nail-growing cells at the outer edge of the nail. My son had this done (ingrowns were constant) and …. no more ingrown toenails!

What happens if an ingrown toenail goes untreated?

This is like the disclaimer to all surgery, anesthesia and pharmaceutical usage. You could experience pain, itching, soreness, redness, swelling, discoloration, infection, pus, drainage, fever, gangrene, amputation, an unsightly appearance, deformity, sepsis and even death.Pain was my biggest issue. If regular soaking, cleaning and trimming of the toenails is not enough to keep them from being constantly painful and infected, then it could be time to see the foot doctor. If there is an infection and mess currently in your toe that you feel unqualified to deal with and rectify, go to the doctor sooner than later.I was to the point many years ago I couldn't stand to wear tights, pantyhose, tight socks and sometimes the sheets resting on my toes even hurt. I avoided shoes altogether if I could. Except I was a waitress and bartender at the time and my constantly sore toes were miserable. There is in easy, in-the-office procedure to more permanently fix the problem if you get them all the time. Note I said easy, not painless so you should be pretty miserable until you get there because a digital nerve block in the big toe is no joke. But it's over pretty quickly, then you feel nothing and hopefully, the problem will be permanently resolved. I am going on 20 years or so. I still have to keep after the soaking, trimming and cleaning or I get sore toes, but I am able to avoid being in pain daily AND they didn't cut down the edges of my toenails enough for my toes to look queer. I do not care about the ability to wear pantyhose anymore or I suppose I could handle wearing them now if I wanted to.I have learned that long toenails, nail polish, dirt, sand and general crud are all the enemy when it comes to keeping after ingrown toenails. For those of us that love to go barefoot in the summer, especially us ladies with pretty painted pigs, this can be a challenge. What I know is that I personally gave up nail polish two summers ago and my toe health has improved yet further. Clean, trimmed, and short.Just JessicaPS I recommend caution with any pedicure operation especially regarding the hygiene and reuse of their tools. Remember Paula Abdul and her flesh eating bacteria in her thumb? Yeah. It can happen.PSS Dear teenage boys, ignoring these problems will not make them go away. I had one that tried once with a busted ingrown toenail. It was awful.

How do you treat a stubbing toe?

How do you treat a stubbing toe?Just in case English is not your native language, or if it is and you don’t understand the basics….. Your question should read “How do you treat a stubbed toe?Stubbing is the action you took when you stubbed your toe.A stubbed toe can also be a broken toe. The feeling is similar.I’ve experienced this and it is annoying and painful. If your toe is swollen and too painful to walk on, elevate your leg and put an ice pack on your foot. You can use a bandana to tie the ice pack around the end of your foot, as it’s an awkward place to ice.Leave the ice pack on for 20 minutes, remove it for an hour, reapply several more times until swelling goes down or the toe feels better. If it’s still too painful to walk on tomorrow, see your doc for an X-ray….not that theres a lot they can/will do for the stubbed toe, however having this knowledge may help you remember to avoid more stubbing events.
